  1. As others have said, the definition of flying "military Air Transport Operations" is up to your DPE who issues the certificate. From my sample of 2 DPEs, if you are an active military pilot, you're good. Of course that doesn't mean there isn't a DPE out there that will interpret that differently. Anyone on the fence about this should just get it done.
  2. Its good as long as you are an active military pilot when you take the ATP practical
  3. What is debatable? If you and I elect a new member to Congress (because the incumbent sucked ass) based on a promise never to take away from military retirement, for example, and they start voting to cut benefits, who is to blame? They don't get a pass just because we made the choice to believe them. If we leave them in office a second longer than required though, we are definitely to blame. Yes, I've seen the incumbent reelection statistics many times and they are an embarrassment. Hard to believe how often we put them back in office.
  4. Agree to some extent. When 'we' re-elect members of congress with proven track records of poor votes, 'we' are to blame. However, when we elect representatives based on a platform, only to have them vote differently, THEY are to blame and it's up to us to get them OUT of congress at the next opportunity.
  5. So why did you vote for it? I assume you were fully aware of the retirement COLA cuts when you voted. Was there no time to 'fix' that provision before it went to the senate? Like others have mentioned, so much was said in the past year about how current retirees and currently serving personnel would be grandfathered in any new plan that I'm pretty surprised this provision was allowed to move forward without any debate or challenges. Very disappointing. And although small in scope, the fact that it happened at all is an ominous sign that congress' attitude towards taking from those that serve is now fully on the table.
  6. Thanks. Dumb question quota for the day now met.
  7. That would sap the fun out of things. What's an FEW?
  8. I've flown with both the Garman GDL 39 linked up to a Garmin 696, and an iPad linked up to a Stratus receiver. Both worked great showing "participating" traffic with mode S transponders, but unfortunately that was only about 5 aircraft in all of north Florida and south Alabama. So not very useful because 90% of traffic wasn't displayed. "Non participating" traffic is only displayed if you're equipped with ADS-B in AND out. The FIS-B weather worked great though. And free unlike XM weather.
  9. Have you gone here? Lots of good info for using your CAC at home for email. http://militarycac.com/windows8.htm
  10. You obviously have no idea what you missed...
  11. Maybe to you. I think you're just crazy for saying that and think it's a clear sign we've lost our minds. A swimsuit is sexually offensive?? Good god, how on earth do we allow base pools! Explain to me where the line is drawn? Can I have a picture of my wife after running a race in her scandalous running top and shorts? Is a cocktail dress acceptable? Anyone offended by a swimsuit needs to get a reality check. I guess these pictures are ok since they're on af.mil sites? Picture1 , Picture 2, Picture 3 GMAFB.
  12. Good advice. Are you saying you applied for a program that said it excluded 11x's but still got approved?
  13. AFI 11-401, ACC SUPP if you want to fly ACC aircraft. Table 2.1. Not sure the line number. Says Wing CC is approval level. Just need your det to request the flight, usually with OSS OSO. Easy.
  14. Well done. Timing is everything! Unfortunately, none of the current force management programs can be used by any 11X as far as I can see.
  15. Funny! I get it! Such an absurd statement it's hilarious.
  16. Unless he graduated the Naval Academy at age 20, I doubt he's actually a pilot. More likely an early phase student based on being 23 and stationed at Pensacola (do they still do API there?). Either way, it's gonna be a short career!
  17. First question: What's an A code? Is that the AC? Second, more important question: How in the wide wide world of sports does a narsacistic douchebag like that become and stay a flight examiner!? Should have been the easy call after the base ops "hook" comment...oops. Wow. Had no idea a guy with zero pilot experience could ever Q-3 a pilot. Seems wrong but not my community.
  18. My thoughts exactly. Tell me this isn't true...
  19. If you just tap the bottom of the screen, the back button and other options pop into view.
  20. My understanding is that any FTU that is providing pilots to warfighting units, both those in ACC and AETC, as well as IFF and UPT units are still flying. USAFA isn't because they don't feed the supply chain.
  21. That and I mean be honest, my ERAU online masters is WAY harder than WIC... My guess is that WIC is seen as an intense, challenging and worthwhile training program. And therefore not worthy of IDE credit. Very cynical.
  22. Awesome, I really hope we get to this as the norm in the AF, not the exception. THIS!!! I will start feeling optimistic about the AF again once I see this happening.
