  1. Talking to TMO the other day, and it came up that they recently got something brought up to them about a PCS for someone 3 years ago by the guy who does the audit... they said that it looks like only one guy audits all PCS's in the military and he's about 3 years behind. If that's so, it might be why this entire investigation waited so long. Not necessarily that they were waiting for the right time to attack certain generals.
  2. The real question is what will the homeowner do next... will they set out christmas ornaments, swing paint cans from stair ways and put heat through all the doorknobs, then a few years later disappear from the public eye for a long time only to turn up screwing Mila Kunis many years down the road?
  3. Not exactly the right thread for this, but I couldn't find a Klamath Falls specific thread and it isn't worth starting a new one. I was curious on the typical winter driving conditions through Oregon on US-97 vs I-5. I'd prefer to utilize the eastern route because it's more direct, but I could stay on interstates if I did take the longer drive on the west. I was hoping someone who has lived in Klamath Falls might be able to tell me how bad US-97 is in the winter through Oregon.
  4. I take it you're already at Little Rock on TDY, so changing it from a TDY enroute (code 3) to TDY and return (code 1) then PCS is not an option? otherwise, Report as quick as you can. Use house hunting PTDY, then Paternity Leave after the birth. You'd just have to return to Dyess between them.... I don't have an answer for your specific question though, just ways around it.
  5. 1. Add TXU to the DO NOT USE list for Texas energy. Rates much higher than anyone else, even if they claim they are the lowest because they are fixed. Turns out they were fixed, fixed above my new companies top end of the range. I'd never lived in a state where there were competing energy companies, so I had no clue and just signed up for the one I was told about because there'd always only been one option where I was from. Me and a few people randomly had bills get as high as 400-500 last year (almost double what I got for this year December) which had obvious flaws in it, and they wouldn't work with us. I've since had bills as low as $79 with the new company. Obviously that wasn't the same month, but I don't think it would have even been possible to have a bill that low with TXU. I strongly recommend Energy Plus, low rates, much lower than TXU (yeah flexible /watt charge, but still lower) and you get frequent flyer miles with American for every bill you pay. 2. As for credit companies, beware if you are renting an apartment that they like to throw stuff at you after you move out. Last two apartments I rented did something. One told me they wanted to charge me $1000 on top of my security deposit. I said I would need an itemized list before I would pay, and their response was that it would have to come from corporate. I emailed corporate, and they told me they would work on it. 2 weeks later, no further reply, so I take initiative and email back and get the response "I've been out of the office, sorry". So I give it two more weeks, no response. Email them again and get told "I've been to busy and forgot". So I give up and tell myself "well, it must be gone then, she said she'd take care of it", and wait to see if I ever hear from them again, and I don't until I run a credit check. I filed a credit complaint stating exactly the above, and contacted the same lady saying it wasn't my fault they didn't do their job and I'm willing to pay once I know what I'm paying for so it needs to be removed from my credit report (with all previous emails attached). Immediate reply comes back saying "it has been erased, you owe us nothing anymore, we apologize". 2nd apartment was worse. I went in on the day I moved out and gave them a check and asked for exactly how much to make it out for, then I wrote it for that amount. They insisted they won't look over the apartment until after the move out date, I said fine, do what you want. I tried giving them a forwarding mailing address, and they said I needed to do that with the post office, so I did. 6 months later, I ran a credit report and found they wanted like 150-200 bucks for damages, but had never told me this. Turns out they had been mailing the address they had for me, which was to the building they were mailing it from, that obviously I'd moved out from... some people are retarded. They refused to call me when the mail came back undelivered, saying it wasn't their policy. If they would have just accepted the forwarding address or inspected first it would have all been fine. I ended up cutting a deal with the collections agency to remove it from my history when I paid the amount plus a small processing fee.

  10. Hitler quote in yearbook They missed the sexual context reference with the perfect hyphenization of analysis too then.... I'd say with my last statement and the fact that it's a Hitler quote, there is no way this wasn't.
  11. As for the whole "use it or lose it" philosophy, a method needs to be implemented where units can have up to a set percentage (say 5 percent) of their budget that can be "recycled" and will be allocated as they "spent" it. This "recycled" money would then be sent back up the chain somewhere and put to either savings or programs that require more money. Those reviewing that "recycled" money couldn't cut a unit's spending based on that percentage. Money outside that percentage that wasn't spent would still be fair game to being cut in the next FY budget (or realistically would be spent on plasma TVs just so it was spent), but at least it would put some reigns on the issue. This would allow people with morals can choose to be responsible with the money rather than just wasting it to prevent an issue of being short changed and limiting mission capability the next year. And there would have to be a percentage limit so that unit wouldn't look bad for giving back while others used their budget.

  13. And more BS entitlements to academy grads since it's virtually impossible in this day and aget to "be on active duty at the location of your graduation/commissioning before being sent to your first training location" for an AFROTC grad now that ad lt's are gone. I do know that the army does use this tactic a lot with its grads out of rotc.
  14. And the meeting said exactly that, it would be between EAD and PDS... so ASBC enroute should receive it unless given gov't qrtrs... I also found a reg stating that temporary facilities are not gov't quarters, or something to that extent. But it really seems too vague in how it's written. I think someone at the DOD level was trying to help but wrote it wrong. The biggest thing is at the start it says "you must receive basic pay to be elligible for housing allowances".
  15. Here's my thought. I've read the rule very carefully, and it NEVER states the member has to be on Active Duty to get paid. In fact it almost intends to be just for this purpose, so the AF can't bend us over for 6 months like they have been. I understand the AF saving money and not paying us our base pay because we are not working, but they should provided the housing allowance. Which is exactly what the rule is saying. Supposedly there is a briefing about this tomorrow at my base. My thought is that some bases finances will stick up for the students and do what's right. Others will be chickenshit and not do it. It is a DOD rule. I went into this really critical about the rule and thought I had found ways out of them paying it, but the more i look, the more I see how clearly it states it, and the AF is just wrong for not having done anything about this. They were clearly not in knowledge of the rule or trying to avoid it all together. I do see this being a major financial snafu and I can see the AF realizing that and trying to work its way out of it, but if bonuses can be given to so many people/year, this is small beans. And in the grand scheme of things it's small beans to the AF, but not to those involved. My check would be almost 6,000. I had to pay rent for 6 months, most people couldn't even get jobs to pay their rent, AF owes according to the rules. Can't sue them, but can be a big media crisis when shit hits the fan.
  16. Yeah, That's why I put "probably can tackle in the store", I couldn't remember the exact policy, and our main Loss Prevention guy at the door was a 70 year old retired marine that always talked about taking out shoplifters, but never had the chance, I highly doubt he would have if given the chance. The biggest thing is there are very good strategies to dissuade people from shoplifting. Contacting them is a big one. That's why you will almost always be contacted within a minute or 2 of entering any department at the store. The more contact with the shoplifter, the less likely he is to have the guyts to try something because he will feel watched Contacting them is also important to start a sale. Also, if you are fairly sure they are up to something, you confront them about it in a tactful manner "hey man, you checked out the new model PS3 yet?", suddenly he knows that you know he has a PS3 stashed away, he knows you have a good description of him, and he isn't going to start a scene because the goal is to be stealthy. Did we have people who grabbed several PS3s and a 360 and quick make a dash for the backdoor? Yeah. and we got the best description we could, got the car make and model (liscense covered up), sent in the report, and usually we'd get the merch back and someone would end up busted.
  17. you don't chase shoplifters in retail... i've worked for a big box electronics store. Try and prevent them from getting out the door anyway shape or form, but then be ready to file a report, the police do a damn good job of getting them if you did your part to get a description. Probably can even tackle them inside the store, but once they are out the door, file a good report and let it go. These companies are prepared to deal with shoplifting losses. It happens at least once a week at most stores, you try to minimize it, and awards are given to stores that lower the amount they have stolen, but the corporate headquarters knows there will be losses due to theft. Not worth an employee getting hurt over the merchandise. It's just merchandise.
  18. I like 80-1084... talk about a miserable feeling of "wtf do I do now". anyway, I originally read the Air Force Magazine article about the F-106, it is linked in the link I posted before. I didn't realize that when I posted it originally. It goes in to much more depth, including that the aircraft was repaired and re-used... Pretty impressive to have been ejected from mid-flight and then land on its own well enough to be able to be flown again.

  20. haha, i may as well add this little input about my own luck last night. I parked in front of a "No Parking Anytime" sign on my way into a party yesterday, didn't even realize it cuz i was just parking in front of all the other cars, and made sure there weren't any fire hydrants. I went to pick up the car this morning, and saw the sign, right in between the rear and front passenger doors, almost like someone had seen my car there overnight and had stuck it there since it was the only car on the street. No ticket, but caught my eye none the less as "how the fuck did I miss that?"
  21. I think the first video was filmed shortly after you graduated then. It is not a recent film, but I remember it from my early years. Usually one parody video done per semester in my time there, usually shown at the end of the semester at a special event. The best one I remember (actually pretty quality) was Office Space re-done. To any current Riddle students, the old ones used to be saved somewhere on the intranet there. There was another video done for AAS I think that I didn't see cuz I was standing in the hall the one time it played, but it included people going through the wall of the det. That was pretty funny from what I've heard, I still wish I had seen that. They have definitely been hit or miss, and if you search you will find some that are better/worse, and I know I've seen some of the more recent ones....
  22. It's ok, Obama Bin Laden got deleted too, it happens to the best of em sometimes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obama_Bin_Laden But don't worry, as the page says, we can all go search for the elusive "Obama Bin Laden"
  23. Ok, that is precisely what I didn't know is what risk they were at. However, he shouldn't have had to fear that he would be shooting at his fellows. I guess he should have been hoping that if captured his fellows would take mercy on him. At the same that rate you posted is 1 specialist:650 soldiers. I would be that is similar if not better than the rate most high schools have of school counselors to students. (that's the only other time I can think of having assigned counselors, usually they are something one seeks). Why are the counselors going base to base so much? Shouldn't they just each be assigned a base (and mayabe surrounding area)? Isn't that the nature of the job they signed up for? Don't counselors not in the war deal with patients dealing with tragic death all the time? Not like there is anything that can be said to say that would justify him, I'm just saying I don't think it's cuz he "Just Snapped". Especially with a lot of what the media has been reporting at least, with him having certain ties or attempted ties. I don't think that's all coincidental. And especially if he was trying to make contact with these people, to me that's him putting himself in a group with them, labeling himself as if nothing else a wannabe terrorist, so when he commits an act, isn't it thus terrorism. on a completely seperate note, the D.C. Sniper (who's motives were specifically aimed towards funding a terrorist camp for Islamic converted youth) was convicted of Terrorism, but only on the premice that he had been part of 2 shootings. Would that be 2 completely seperate incidents? or would something like Ft Hood, where he shoots multiple people in one massive event also have qualified for terrorism? if it has to be 2 seperate events (according to what i believe was VA state law), then I think under that law, Ft Hood wouldn't be considered a terrorist event, whether it was religious or not. The plot behind the Sniper is much more aimed at religious terrorism for sure, and it did require according to the court 2 shootings to be considered terrorism. Again, Terrorism remains such a vague term.
  24. I think it depends on which context he said "allu akhbar".... I don't think I'd go down in a hailstorm of gunfire screaming "THANK GOD" unless I meant it. Especially, if this is a common way for suicide islamic attackers to go out. Then I think it is just his way of justifying it to his God "God I"m doing this for you", "God don't hate me for this, it is in your name." I think if any Christian went out saying "God is Great", I would believe his motivation was a religious attack. Thus I take the Ft Hood shootings as at least a personal Jihad on his part. To me it shows that it wasn't just him snapping and shooting people up, and he just so happened to be muslim. The only exception to all this would be if he was getting return fire and feared he was dying and this was going to be his last words to his god "God you are Great, take me". But due to the greater circumstances of everything lately, I believe that if he was religiously motivated, it makes it a terrorist attack. His goal was to strike fear, and as a psychologist or whatever I'm sure he knew that fear would be struck if he did this. Hell, even if his goal was just to kill everyone, he had to know he wouldn't and that fear would be struck, and he still did it, therefore it fits that uber-vague definition of Terrorism in my eyes, but I think even that definition is now in the eye of the beholder, so this whole debate is kinda weak in the first place. In terms of the mosque, the way I understood it is that there are several in D.C. and Muslims usually attend several, not just one all the time. And this specific mosque that they all attend is one of the larger (if not largest) ones, that just about all muslims in that area go to, thus really dulling down this relationship, But now they are saying he had attempted to email al qaeda (who supposedly laughed him off) Anyway, I also found this, which basically states the whole "is the military to concerned about PC?" question, and it's from an actual news source not just a blog (yes foxnews, but as much of a news source as any of the other flawed major outlets in my mind, CNN etc): http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,573469,00.html
  25. My post is in reference to Brabus... as Vertigo sneaked in while I was typing. And I have now have a post in agreement to Vertigo too... this world really is going to hell and a handbasket. I think some (not all) context has been removed from what you've posted (mainly timeframe and criteria for when we non-islams should be killed). Also, this is what I got for 9:25 [9:25] GOD has granted you victory in many situations. But on the day of Hunayn, you became too proud of your great number. Consequently, it did not help you at all, and the spacious earth became so straitened around you, that you turned around and fled. Anyway, the violence seen in the Quaran seems very little in difference to the violence seen in some parts of the bible. Take Exodus for example, God claims again and again that he could just have the Egyptians let the Israelites go, but he "hardens their (the Pharoah's) hearts" so that they don't let the Israelites go. He then after enough abuse finally lets Pharoah let them go. But then decides to "harden his heart" again so that the Egyptians chase the Israelites where they end up dying at God's hand. I could see how it's easy to believe the violence brought on in the Quaran to non-believers could be justified by them if believed that it came from that already even as we believe violent God. Oh... and all of our prophets are polygamists too... in many crazy ways too. Why did God not care about it back then? Dang... Anyway, I don't think they are just in their Jihad, I'm just saying the violence they believe in is not as different from the Violence shown in the Christian Bible (which they believe in) by the same God according to them. Just calling them a violent religion shows you are studied better than I on their religion, but maybe should look at Christianity more before comparing. And after reading Vertigos, my statement is that it's the act that's violent, (which not all muslims believe in) not the actual religion that is violent. It's all in how it's interpreted. Anyway, on topic, I think his act was in this manner of being violent for the religion, and thus similar to the 9/11 attackers and any other jihadist. And I would say it is an act of terror, as much as 9/11, as much as Timothy McVeigh.
