  1. I thought that all mil aircraft were mandated by Congress to have TCAS after the 141 mid air.
  2. Hollywood is on top of it, they will set us straight. And that will become the truth. Out
  3. Well officer, it looked like a duck and it was over my property, so... And They'd bypass such an infringement upon their freedom. Psst, hey kid, wanna hacked EPROM to take full control of that "toy" of yours? Out
  4. It's important for aviators to know their environment. The C-27 vs Herk out near Pope is another example of crews oblivious to each other. Keep scanning you all, it may be the only thing that saves you one day. Out
  5. Some Yahoo article pointing to an online site doing a brewery survey. Check off the ones you like. I must say it was a nice list, but didn't go deep enough for some local-regional favorites of mine. I did it while enjoying a Tallgrass. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/best-craft-breweries-survey
  6. Weight likely was factor, but its quite likely the crew didn't have the skills and practice to handle an engine failure/prop malfunction at takeoff. Or calculate TOLD properly and tell 20 people to stay put in the off chance the have an engine problem. And if it was an underpowered E model.... Common issues with some other countries that fly Mighty Herc. Out
  7. What if you get pregnant? I have a better idea, delete the useless job altogether. We've all been there and seen or played the wasted job and know what it looks like. Delete! There, now give me my 10% of the savings so i can retire a multi millionaire. Out
  8. The true daily work of non-flying jobs at many deployed spots does not justify the number of people. Even with CCs considerate of extra bodies and looking to cut, they second guess and change their mind. It was always the "in case the shit hits the fan" excuse. The mentality will not go away. "I'm in charge of a lot of people" and the bigger the better for many CCs. And so much of the work is pure crap, mostly crap, and half crap. We generate more crap than sorties. The MX hours per flying hour are X. The crap that goes along with it is X to the 50+. So much time, paper, electricity, and waste of human time goes into generating useless, no decision making info, crap. I'm out of crap
  9. Someone/DT mentioned I should take the DLAB just like all the other boxes we should check. I left that one empty. I think I'm good to go with my future. Out
  10. It's a CJCS program because of politics. Throw the ol joint chief stamp on there so that everyone thinks its serious. Are there people that want to do this, probably. Are they in avaition, now we're getting to slim pickins. No one likes to work for futility, which is my opinion of this program and region. Send lots of intel and foreign affairs types to this program. Out
  11. A. That is why I love the Packers. You never see the "owner" with lots a camera time during the game. I think its in NFL law that TV must show Jerry Jones every game. B. NLF, take your black eye of taking millions from the gov't in the name of the troops and do something meaningful with it. Oh, please don't produce any cheerleader posters, we can't put those up in the office anymore, SARC and all. C. Brady is a cheater. I mean, really, how can he stand at the mike and say he has no idea how a ball feels. That is like a surgeon saying he doesn't know if his scalpel is good, or Tiger or "pick your pro golpher" saying he has no idea how the club feels, or the race car driver and how the car feels. You're supposed to be a pro at throwing the football, you better damn well know how you want your balls to feel. I know how I want my balls to feel! Beer is out and so am I
  12. Kill it Chicago style - bulldoze it in the middle of the night and say opps. RIP Meigs. Although Han will live to fly another day, I don't think he shot first this time. Out
  13. Lando was heard saying, "They told me it was fixed!" as Solo was banging on the dash on his way down. Out
  14. Do I not look calm to you? I was merely correcting the use of mil friendly from rubber stamp to bonafide when it comes to this outfit. You do like bonafide when it comes to your aviation training, right? I think so since you're about to invest 6x as much. E-mail them and ask for the study materials. It should include stuff like typical systems GK, checklist, light twin specifics, and typical profiles. Out
  15. Downtown...It's a course for grown ups and you have to come well prepared like a grown up. It's not the first day of elementary school, it more like the final exam review and prep ride for that Sr year college class that you've been studying for. Like the other say, you're hours and experience have prepared you to fly. They spend their time (and your money) making sure you know what you need to know and that you can safely fly a twin. The last thing they want is to get a rep as rubber stampers (butters) as the FAA will clamp that down. So "Mil Friendly" to me means they understand our background, understand how we log hours, and understand our level of experience. Hoss is right. Smokin is right. Robo, give them a call. They're likely booked out to the summer. Out
  16. C-130H FTU was TFI with a reserve squadron until the AF changed its minds and it went Air Guard. I guess it must be a really big issue that the SECAF needs to solve for us. Out
  17. Ah, the KLPs. So you think that many of us don't have the influence that you wish to get someday? Men, here's my guess. Chang volunteered for one of those exec jobs, probably above the sq level. Maybe he's on a staff somewhere and thus because of his "position" and the dude he hears everyday, he's a really swell leader. But he is most likely one of those that I mentioned earlier, a dude that knows the exec gets good paper and thus promotion and jobs. So he plays the game and drops terms like KLPs. Because this is the way he's gotten this far in the AF, it has to be the best way because he thinks he's the best. "It's never going to change, because it never should" is how we will continue to have shitty bosses and the Chang pathway will remain open. You are right though chang, the exec pathway will not change and there will always be a shoe path for you because the best will not always want it. Out
  18. Ha ha! I caught one! Men, I suggest you turn on your Chang squelch. Elders, you know what I meant by my advice. Out
  19. First, congrats to those that made the list. If you defied the odds by making it, remember the rule on luck and timing. The exec dilemma. Execs do learn something. First is that by doing the job, they usually get a good paper. That means promotion. The rest is politics and commander whims on why they think the way they do. But that may or may not make said exec a better leader as it depends on the person and the commander. But it is a highly successful pathway to bigger things. I say that we need to push our best people into those jobs, and if we know our best people, they usually won't want it nor like it. But if we don't, then the shoes will seek those jobs for the sake of making grade, because they suck in the plane. That is a way to get our top dudes into jobs to make the force better. So the next time you see a shoe make a dive for the job, out maneuver them by pushing your top aviator/leader into the job instead. Keep the shoes (Changs) out. And then constantly remind them to not get brainwashed. Good luck and out!
  20. That tub of protein powder isn't going to pay for itself! But on the serious side, perhaps they'll restore some of the commissary budget. Nah, who am I kidding. Out
  21. I know a guy or two. Here are their stories. 1st, is there a unit that is willing to do this? Many are not. 2nd, for the guy I knew that did AFRC, he was retired and it took a very high level waiver (think Air Staff and up) to get him back in the game. I heard this route is near impossible. 3rd, another route I heard about is that you don't retire, but rather separate, then get hired by ANG (don't know if AFRC works on this one). You continue to accrue points for more retirement, but I think that active duty owns the retirement bill at that point. Units may not want to do this either. I don't have the facts because I'm either of these dudes. Out
  22. Chip is a known quantity to anyone that has spent some time at the Rock. With that, its most definitely a turn for the better, but that depends on the level of lobotomy performed over the last few years. He'll champion the Herk ways and that is a big positive change from the current regime. Now if he can solve problems instead of firing people, all will be good. Out
  23. Outdoor Rec has a camper/RV/boat lot with a fence and locked gate. Out
