  1. DP = 99.9% promoted P = ~50% promoted Doesn't matter what else is on there, P vs DP is the biggest discriminator. No matter what anyone says, it's all a guess how "strong" a P PRF is. Most O's (aircrew anyway) are well above average and Big Blue magnifies the smallest difference to be able to draw a cut line somewhere. It sucks that PRFs and OPRs are have unwritten rules only the select few are allowed to know, but honestly most non-military family, friends, future employers won't know and don't care. From presonal experience, don't get your ego wrapped up in the PRF and the board results. It doesn't define who you are as a person.
  2. Whatever... My name is GKinnear, and I'm a downvoter.
  3. Dude, you're 20 over, we got work to do!
  4. You're maintaining it in the back stock at your local AAFES...just like every other Major... It's my preferred TTP
  5. Is this guy for real?
  6. Don't lose all faith. Check myPers for the Rated Command Oppotunities. It's not ROTC, but it's something... "Rated Lt Cols and (selects) interested...may also be considered for Air Education & Training Command (AETC) Recruiting (C83R) and Training (91C0) command positions."
  7. (slight spoilers to follow) Generally, I dislike prequels, it always feels rushed and parts are shoehorned in. "Ooh, look, this is the connection to that other film you like!" It felt forced and the character development and emotional hook/connection with the audience is non-existent, both of which are why Marvel movies are good. It isn't as bad as Thor 2 or Iron Man 3, I'll put around Dr. Strange. However, I, the wife, and the kids all enjoyed the movie. I disagree with @17D_guy (noted above). One scene involving a random nameless background actor I thought was unnecessary. It could have been resolved the same way to advance the story without that particular dialogue (little too close to current feminist complaints of being patronized). Some of the interactions between Captain Marvel and Nick Fury felt choppy. Probably a rushed editing job and my dislike of prequels. The soundtrack was the soundtrack of my Middle and High School. "Just a Girl" by No Doubt was too on the nose though. Additionally, I don't understand some of the decisions made regarding the Mar-Vell character itself nor the Skrulls. I'll have to wait for more movies to see if thy will eventually resemble their traditional role in the Marvel canon. I enjoyed the visual theme of the hero always standing back up. It was consistent throughout the film and a good metaphor for real life. I will also caveat all that by saying that while not near as bad as it's been reported in some outlets, I thoroughly enjoyed it, there were some issues...however I don't think I would have noticed half of them if it's media relations had been handled different. Just my opinion, but the controversy is mostly self induced. It's a good popcorn flick whose faults would have been passed over had the public not been keyed in to look for them. Overall: Solid B+. Go see it as a matinee.
  8. FYSA...LuLaRoe doesn't count as "opening a business"
  9. If you're good enough to get a BPZ DP, you're good enough to talk directly to your Senior Rater or look it up yourself.
  10. For most if us still in uniform and idealize the pre-"peace dividend" USAF...why? Sent from my Pixel XL using Baseops Network mobile app
  11. This guy's current on buzzwords Sent from my Pixel XL using Baseops Network mobile app
  12. Shaw down $200 over 2-yr span...small-town dynamics repeated over multiple locations
  13. IMO the only worthwhile change is the IKE jacket, otherwise no one cares
  14. On a positive note, her three years as an ART/C-5 pilot should prove the validity of the "flying only" track not being a career killer for future command opportunities... It appears as if something's up in AMC for a ARC asset to be placed in charge, not that it'll ever make down to masses. I hope that some of the Reserve mentality makes it into AMC's thinking to slay some of the queep.
  15. No argument here that the current system could use an overhaul. My comment was specific to Commander's doing what was right for their Airmen. Again, if Howard was a the prototypical "good dude" his SOS records would be a text-book case of a Commander doing the right thing. Let's not make it more difficult for them to take action when needed. I've read the article a few times. Ned makes some valid points that are in line with my own. IMO, the system needs a formalized peer-review. The bad apple's paper doesn't match reality when the peer opinions come into play; i.e. the self-serving nature is obvious to the bros. Are they truly as self sacrificing and inspirational as the push line states? The bro network will generally be closer to the truth of their motivation...do they truly care about making the force better or are shining their own ass to look good?
  16. Let's not kid ourselves...If Howard wasn't in this situation, we'd be tripping over ourselves to say that his sponsor was what was right in the AF. Before anyone starts, I am a true believer in second chances, but dudes need to understand why leadership is reluctant sometimes to take action. As much as it sucks, its called "Indicators" for a reason. Just my $0.02, but you want Commanders to keep sticking their necks out to advocate for their Airmen (again true believer). Having sponsors go "down with the ship" would make it tougher to Commanders to be willing to do so. Don't blame them, blame the person at fault.
  17. Copy on changing drops. But from what I had seen from the T-38/EN side of the house were more tactical heavies, i.e. C-130s, C-17s, MC-130s. There might have been the odd KC-135 in the past, it's just the RC-135 stood out. Hope the newb enjoys it. Omaha's not a horrible place to live...provided you stay west of the river.
  18. RJ at ENJJPT? Go with the story....
  19. If the white paper isn't enough for you, Richard Whittle also published a 350 page history of the Predator. https://www.amazon.com/Predator-Secret-Origins-Drone-Revolution/dp/0805099646/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517768690&sr=8-1&keywords=predator+richard+whittle
  20. If we can get the messaging right, then we will drive the optics to capitalize on the second and third order effects...
  21. Like I said, it's a data point. Hopefully current and future generations can adjust the mean closer to it.
  22. Don't kid yourself. The A2 is cheaper than the NOMEX jacket. Leadership datapoint: During the last sequestration in 2013, my squadron was handing out the A2 like candy to all the pipeline Airmen (well short of the 36 mos required by AFI). The brand new Airmen weren't getting issued jackets through pipeline training with winter approaching. The Wg enlisted leadership lost it's mind but when the issue was brought up, my boss had already prepped the OG (and he the WG) on the justification. It was a polite conversation, but his response boiled down to "Noted" and he kept issuing A2 jackets to the Airmen. That's not the only reason he made BTZ, but was indicative of his overall leadership.
  23. The counselor at AFPC doesn't have a clue, really, as to why someone got passed over. All they do is compare your record against 10 promoted records. I want to say they are close to the cut line, but I'm not a confident in that assumption. What did that they have that yours didn't? That's it. They don't get access to any notes and they don't have any insight into what the board members were thinking. Its a guessing game. FWIW, after the reduced promotions in 2014, they've used the increased number of stronger APZ records getting promoted as an excuse for the decreased IPZ chances. Regardless, don't invest your ego in the rank you wear on your shoulder. Bust your ass, do the job well, provide officership to best of your ability, and let the chips fall where they may. Whether or not you get promoted, you'll be a lot happier for it.
  24. Ugh, rather have the 200 lbs of gas...
