  1. Is it a requirement to put your strats on your PRF? Do boards actually look through your OPRs or mainly focus on the surf and PRF?
  2. Yeah I just don't see them flashing a picture of a Viper and saying it was a F-15C. Although that would make me laugh to watch the C model guys get their panties in a bunch. Kidding!
  3. Sheppard is rapidly changing. There aren't even enough US fighter dudes to fill the T-38 side of the house. A couple T-38 turned Heavy dudes got orders to T-38s there recently and the Wing Commander tried to turn them down. AFPC said "okay but the slots will go unfilled, there are no 11Fs available." So heavy dudes have fully infiltrated ENJJPT now.

  5. Yeah, Sheppard sucks for those guys that end up in heavies. It was supposed to be an RC-135 but instead there was a picture of a MC-130 and it said Offutt AFB. It obviously wasn't done with any ulterior motives, just a simple mistake, but the most disconcerting part was no one from leadership or with a mic corrected it after it flashed up on the screen. It sucks enough to be one of the few that don't get FAIP/fighter (if you wanted it).
  6. Can you get out earlier than 6 months? Also if you get passed over due to sending a Do Not Promote letter to the board you forfeit the invol sep pay, correct?
  7. Some units do no advertising or recruiting whatsoever. My last Guard unit was like that. Sometimes they had as little as 5 quality candidates going up for the board. I tried and tried to get them to post on here but they like people pursuing them and showing the initiative, so in that respect I understand.

  10. The problem is going to be the B-Course funnel, same as back in 2009-2011 timeframe. We can easily output more T-38 students and even get guys through IFF relatively easy, the problem will be maxing out all the follow on training. All this stuff is cyclical and AFPC isn't smart enough to plan far enough ahead and predict these shortages when they are blatantly obvious to even the casual observer. I could tell you some easy ways to fix this but that's for another thread. Until then, expect more of the same, T-38 students will not be safe forever.

  12. All that to add, I am all for the bonus being 100k a year for those that stay in. You guys seriously deserve it with all the Air Force puts you through.
  13. Completely agree with you. Just like in business, it is cheaper to take care of your people all along the way than trying to bribe people to stay with you after the damage has been done. All I am saying is it would be much cheaper in the long run for the Air Force to work on retaining people (I.e. Fixing the problems) when they are at the five year point of your career than putting all its cards into the bonus being the deciding factor. It's like a long term girlfriend who has cheated and lied again and again saying I've changed take me back when you go to break up with her. I mean yeah the sex is sometimes pretty good but you can definitely get it other places without the drama. Boom drop the mic...

  16. Bottom line, pay is nice but not a single one of you joined the military for the pay. For most, pay will not be the reason people leave. I truly believe we have the best job in the world and being a glorified aerial bus driver shouldn't be able to compete. However with the toxic leadership, the piss poor people management, deployed empire building to prop up the next generation of "combat" generals, and the general apathy from the Air Force makes this decision easy for most. Throwing money at the problem is not going to buy loyalty, but merely keep some fence sitters in for a little while longer. Just my $.02.

  18. If I remember correctly, I vaguely remember having to track down my dual-enrollment grades for my pilot board in ROTC. Granted this was a very long time ago so maybe someone else can get you more recent Intel, but I would definitely try to get started on the right foot... And join the guard.

  20. At HPA right now. I can say it's a good program so far. Run by almost all Retired SWA Pilots/former military. Did you have any issues with the T-6s operating out of KDUC?
