  1. Because that gives way too much bargaining power to the bonus taker. Don't want to do a 365? Great 7-day opt. Don't like those pcs orders? No big deal. They can't force you. The bonus is not to help you out, it's to make sure you are a slave until retirement or twice passed over or RIF, whichever works out best for the Air Force. Don't get me wrong a year to year would be perfect for those guys who are planning on staying until a better opportunity comes along, I just don't see the AF giving away that much power. My assumption on how this would play out would be at the end of your 10 year everyone would put out airlines apps, those that got hired by their end of ADSC would separate and go to their new job, everyone else signs 1-year bonus and updates their availability date 1 year later and so on. Perfect safety net for those planning to get out but don't want to slum it at a regional or go unemployed... not as good for a service that relies on ADSC to force people to do stuff that they would up and quit at any other job. 2. The AF isn't interested in anything other than your indentured servitude. Offering a year to year bonus puts way too much power in the pilot's hands. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  3. Granted changing changing the 1500 hour rule may increase the potential applicants eventually. However, for a vast majority of Pilots in the Air Force who feel like the Leadership has broken faith with them, it only further alienates that group more. 5. What was up with that memo (rumor?) about no longer being able to opt out of a deployment due to retirement or separation once you have already been tagged with it even if it extends past your eligibility window for retirement or separation? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  6. Just goes to show how well thought out the whole PC program is. I think it should just go straight to AFPC and SAF since they do whatever they want anyways. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  7. Every time I sent mine through it went to Sq/CC first. Where did you get this info? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  8. Yes as part of the PC vMPF application, you have a section for overall comments as well as the ability to attach PDF docs, etc. Your WG/CC will be able to see all of this, so that would probably be the best. Another option is to talk to your SQ/CC to get his blessing to ask for a 5 min face to face with the WG/CC to explain your situation. Then go through his secretary to schedule the meeting. Let me know how this goes for you, as I am probably going to be in the same boat after this board. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  9. I know of SAF approving when everyone else said disapprove, so it makes me think they pretty much do whatever they want. (This was pre-VSP days) I'm assuming the bleeding is so bad now it's just a numbers game. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  10. You don't have to tell me brother. I graduated when 38s were only getting preds or U-28s. Now a days you can Class A a jet, meet 2 TRBs and get a Viper! I seen it! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  11. So ARTs and TRs remain unaffected? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  12. T-38s = F-16s ... Just a guess. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  13. I asked for 3 years off before we went all crazy and both my CCs approved. AFPC and SAF/PC disapproved. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  14. 8 months... you have got to be friggin kidding. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  15. Sorry I meant passed over Captains as well! Sounds like we're in the same boat. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  16. Yeah brother. After the second pass over for O-4, lately EVERYONE who is an 11x, has been offered continuation to 20. It is still the Pilot's option to accept it. If he does nothing or turns it down he has to separate NLT 6 months later. He does have the option to submit an earlier separation date, it just can't extend past the 6 month timeline. You Devil Dogs are still on 8 year Pilot Commitments right? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  17. I think continuation is inevitable if you are a pilot. I know guys with negative indicators who were all continued on the last 2 boards Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  18. That sounds about as good of a deal for the Air Force as offering passed over Capts continuation to 20! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  19. If only we would have fired the first Gen Schwartz before he wrecked the place. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  20. How can they do this? Wouldn't they still be allowed to deny the retainment and separate? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  21. Oh how the times have changed... lol Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  22. There is such a huge split between the Rated and Non-rated Officer Career fields. You get your first real good picture of that while at SOS. I went there already feeling jaded at the system, ops tempo and leadership in the Ops world. Even back then before the airlines were hiring, I knew few pilots who were planning on staying in. Imagine my surprise when I found out that a ton of Officers in the AF couldn't be happier. Working 9-5 (sometimes), deploying maybe once in their career (The Deid BPC) and making almost six figures. These dudes were happy. Their biggest problems were what they needed to do to make the next Wing Quarterlies... When they told me what their job consisted of, a report, updating some slides now and then, EPRs, etc. I realized that we were in two completely different military organizations and they would never quite get it. Before anyone jumps off a cliff, I know some other non-rated career fields have it tougher. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  23. So they would have to rely on shoving "service before self" down people's throats... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  24. But how would they be able to non-vol you to a 365? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  25. Quite a few of my friends in the ANG side have just outright quit or transitioned to non-flying positions inside the unit and outside. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
