What was your biggest mistake in UPT or IFS?
T-34: Was on a navigation ride (clock-map-ground), and left my map up in the WX shop before stepping, and realized it as we were about to taxi out for takeoff. Somehow I was able to BS my way through the ride and not hook... UH-1: performing first auto in a couple months (first ride after instruments leading into remotes), and I definitely touched down on the tail stinger, 30 degrees off lane heading, and somehow pivoted to the lane before coming down on the skids. After we came to a stop and rolled the throttle back up, the IP (the DO) turned to me and said, "Well...let's try that again." Not sure how I didn't hook, but the write-up said something to the effect of "minor deviations during first straight-ahead auto, corrected by the end of the sortie." HH-60: C-3 or C-4, whichever was the "auto ride" during IQT, I was flying with the SQ/CC, got slow on the descent of an auto and got the "Go Around" call. What did I do? Pulled an armpit of collective and drooped the SHIT out of the rotor. I somehow remember having the time to turn and look at the FE as we were falling out of the sky with the rotor horn blaring, and his mouth was a big O, and eventually the engines caught up and we flew out of it. The SQ/CC was sitting there calmly the entire time and didn't touch the controls, and once we got back to the downwind he chuckled and asked me what I learned. 1: Don't get slow in an auto 2: don't pull in an armpit of collective on a go around, the engines need time to respond 3: Underfreq protection works. I'm not sure how the main gens didn't kick offline, that's how much I drooped the rotor.

big negatory on wearing DFDU on commercial planes. Pretty sure you can wear civies on the rotator tho. You can change into them upon getting to the pax terminal. Or change when you landing at your next gas stop.- Webmail (home Outlook email) issues

read the AFI closely. As quoted above, "when wearing the ABU coat..." and Chapter 5 is all about the ABU anyway. Nowhere is this stipulated when wearing Friday shirts with the FDU (Chapter 8). "8.7. Undergarments. Undergarments are required with the FDU and DFDU. During flight operations all undergarments, to include cold weather undergarments, must be cotton or fire retardant material and must be on the safe to fly list maintained by Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE). Undershirts will be crewneck style and tan in color. Exception: Wing Commanders may authorize Airmen to wear a designated unit standardized color undershirt on Fridays, or during special events."- Return of Friday shirts / patches
no, that stipulation only applies to the ABUs.- Webmail (home Outlook email) issues
- FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
if the question is about accomplishing a curtailment, I don't think those are that cosmic. It doesn't mean a position is being cut, it means someone is asking to be released from an assignment/location early. I've seen others do this from OCONUS locations. It's just a request to curtail the length of the current assignment. So in his case, since that ADSC exceeded his UPT ADSC, he needs to curtail to be released. ETA: the correct term in AFI 36-2110 is a "stabilized tour." Para 1.4 talks about waivers, suggest you start there.- FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
have you met with him to ask the status of your application? Make him tell you to your face that he's slow-rolling it, or conversely you calling him out may actually get him to act in a timely manner.- FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
that will be the last status update until you either get word that it's approved or denied (at least, that was my experience 2 months ago with my request for separation process)- Afghan Plane Crash Kills 2 ISAF Troops, Contractor
to be clear, this one sounds like the last one - AKA NOT an MC-12, but an Army variant. either way, still sucks.- Deployed again....from my deployment?
and YOU have to sign the dwell reduction waiver paperwork to say you agreed to it. So don't sign it.- FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)

I was on that SIB. Damn lucky no one died...one of the M-28 dudes was thrown and pinned underneath the helo as it rolled. Luckily there was a foot of dust he sank into and the PJs were able to just pull him out. They did a CDI in lieu of an AIB for the HH-60 one, so I have no idea how to find a copy of that to post here, sorry.- Turning down an assignment but still have commitment
two dudes have done this in Rescue - turned down PCS orders. They were required to set a date of separation of their ADSC expiration date...neither got 365s, but they continued to deploy as normal in the community until their time was up.- Space A(vailable) Info
rog, thanks. has anyone used the MilSpaceA app, and did you think it was worth the $3.99 price? I saw it on takeahop.com...- Space A(vailable) Info
thread bump. I'm looking to space a to both Japan and Europe if possible. Can this be done without travelling back through CONUS between destinations? Just wondering how often Europe and Asia are linked via flights.- 3 Holloman RPA drivers killed in car crash

second on the white wing, I dig it. Also, just had the Breckenridge Agave Wheat, and while slightly sweeter than other wheats, goes down smooth. 8/10.- Return of Friday shirts / patches

I wonder how much deserved chiefing will go on for those unaware they need WG/CC and SQ/CC approval for most of these things and need to wait for it. - Military Rotator...
