  1. So nosed around at work, airshows are back on. We have a few requests for our aircraft from other AF bases. Saw the F-22 demo team is doing shows, anyone know if the other demo teams are back up and running?
  2. So does it mean that folks can support military airshows? That is what the website leads me to understand. As far as flying demos at military air shows, not sure.
  3. Always found that funny considering: they cut the fingers off their gloves, roll sleeves up, zippers down, and have been known to fly around naked. But FOD...watch out boys.
  4. I think people are getting too wrapped around the axle over what Cap said. If there is something so important that it needs to get done overnight, my boss has either told me to stay and work on it, or come in on a Sunday. This has been the exception in my short career and in each case warranted. Other than that, I'm not working on shit at home.
  5. This. My old man said the same thing as well, great advice to heed. The wheels aren't going to fall off the train if you don't read emails overnight.
  6. Meant masters...but yeah that won't go either.
  7. I'll be honest, my morale would be increased so much more by eliminating the queepy bullshit we have to do (check in the box PME, ect) rather than the token gesture of running shoes and some velcro backed cloth. I see this as the easy thing to do for a quick artificial boost in our morale. Meanwhile no one is stepping up and dealing with the serious shit.
  8. Wish I had this a couple weeks ago going through OAK, the security line in the Southwest terminal wrapped back around the baggage carousels. It took over an hour to get through. There was only one regular check line open, while there were two precheck lines open. Couldn't figure that one out....oh yeah...it's TSA.
  9. Sierra Nevada Narwhal: black as midnight, thick like molasses. Good stuff.
  10. When they look at AFSCs to RIF, do they break it down further than just the 11M or 11S? Do they consider what you actually fly and the manning state of that community or is this just a broad stroke against all 11M/S/Whatever?
  11. There is a push in leadership to not allow SOS in correspondence until you've hit your 7th year and haven't been in-res. I don't foresee this happening with any urgency.
  12. Anyone notice homenugget paying attention to the jumpers and not his 'lead'? No wonder he ran into the other plane...and of course the guy that caused the accident is the one that landed ok.....
  13. I don't understand how we push this safety culture, yet we don't readily share safety information to everyone. The 'I have a secret' culture in many safety offices is rotten. Glad someone is bringing this up on a higher level. Anyone read Approach magazine? Why doesn't the AF have something like that?
  14. Just saw an email on this. They are proceeding as if the 28 Oct - 20 Dec class still happening. The cutoff is 21 Oct for all these budget shenanigans. No fix by then, no SOS class this fall.
  15. Looked into it once, quotes ranged from $1200 to $2000. Google is your friend.
  16. Time to laugh... https://www.af.mil/AboutUs/Biographies/Display/tabid/225/Article/108453/brigadier-general-jeffrey-b-kendall.aspx
  17. Fozzy, If you are looking for a decent 3B/2Ba house in the 'nicer' neighborhoods, you are looking at $1,500 and up just for the rent. That's right at the cap for an O3 w/ dependants. Good luck if you have pets, very few rentals allow pets and the ones that do charge up to a few hundred per pet. AHRN is very fluid as demand is high for rentals, we also looked on real estate websites, craigs list, zillow, and trulia. Calling around to different realators was helpful as well. If you find something, you have to jump on it quickly.
  18. Having drove around town for several days on the hunt for a good rental, I was amazed at the number of houses for sale. Friends there had told me, including one who's wife is a realator, how the market is definetly a buyer's market right now but it sucks for everyone trying to sell. I'm not a realestate expert, but I think that the new housing will hurt sellers for a period of time, but will drive down rental prices in the long run. What infuriated me was that the rentals in Clovis were more expensive per sq/ft than anything I've ever seen, by a wide margin. Most rentals are two-three times the going mortgage rate if you bought a new house. Several friends bought a house since their mortgage was around 50% of their BAH. I just don't want to have any connection with Clovis when I get outa there. Fortunately, I got really lucky and found a great rental that is a new build AND within my BAH. Seriously felt like we won the powerball.
  19. It's fun trying to convince the combat arms guys at a non-flying base that aircrew can and do wear over the shoulder holsters and thus need to qualify with one.....absolutely no outside the box thinking at that place.
  20. "We do not know where your HHG were stored for the past year"
  21. ...so according to Senator Jeff Flake's math this just saved a SQ of A-10s.... Seriously, glad everyone got out ok! Good to to hear after how rough this year has been.
  22. Korean Air can't be shown up by Asiana.....
