  1. HerkStud, Bremont makes a nice watch. The U-2 pilots have used them for a custom watch a couple of times, and those that bought it do like it. However, I don't believe you will get any interest in a "generic USAF watch". I may be wrong, but "the USAF" as an entity has an image problem right now. In the case of the pilots that are your target audience, most of them will have a much stronger identity with their airframe or squadron than they will with Big Blue. Very few of them are going to show up at the squadron bar and show off their custom "USAF Bremont". I hope I am wrong... but I don't think I am.
  2. Congrats to Fidel. Nicely done.
  3. Yes, we know... there was no official "runner up". But the fact that there are people like Noah out there... he's not the only one... and they elected to go with this decision... well, that's a defacto runner up in my book. Actually, it's far beyond just that.

  5. Good looking watch. Be glad it was ordered in the UK: dealing with Breitling USA on custom watches is utterly painful. After doing two custom orders with them in the past, I refused to do a third this year.
  6. Got it. Unsat on my part for reading comprehension.
  7. $200? Seems pretty high. Maybe I don't understand the issue, but at some point, you'll leave military flying and might have to take the CFI refresher every 2 years. Just sign up now, and do the American Flyers. It's a one time fee of $99, and you're done. Additionally, they will do your renewal for $25... not $200. I live 30 miles from my FSDO. The 60 mile roundtrip... have to make an appointment.... do the paperwork... etc... makes this $25 fee a no-brainer. So sure... you can go through the thrash of using your military IP creds to renew... or save yourself a lot of time and effort and just do it online.

  9. https://www.militarytimes.com/story/veterans/2015/05/21/fighter-aces-awarded-congressional-gold-medal/27702791/ I went to DC for this, and ended up flying two Navy Aces to the event. It was an incredible 3 days. The stories were fantastic. And a few of them stayed in the bar late with me. Every penny of my bar tab was well spent.

  10. El piloto, 3 years from your U-2 qual. Which is about 8 months after you arrive at Beale. So, based on what you have typed, you will extend your ADSC by about 2 years. Most of these questions can be answered by the U-2 Recruiting office: 530.634.4447.
  11. 3 days. Check their website.
  12. I believe it is a poor idea not to get your ATP. It is a professional credential. Professional pilots should have these type of credentials. There are many other flying jobs out there besides the airlines where having an ATP will help. Plus... $1500 really isn't that much money in the big scheme of things. And maybe you'll actually enjoy the flying to get the ATP.

  14. If you spoke to Beale (Shooter, probably) and AFPC, there is no one on this forum that is going to give you any better updates.
  15. Why don't you call Beale and ask?
  16. Not to worry, Karl. I've black-balled you.
  17. Apologies. I came across as a rude. That year was a significant change for military displays, and I know most everyone was caught up in it.
  18. You do recall there was this thing call "sequestration" last year, right?
  19. Are any of you flying in there in a military aircraft for static display?
