  1. I was really nervous to use USAA for my refi as I have had friends where it took 3+ months to get things accomplished. But mine took about 10 days (we weren't in a hurry and were not pushing at all) and was relatively painless. If they've got the rates you're looking for I think it's worth talking to them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Funny you should mention it... http://xm42.com Perfect for incinerating piles of cash, classified documents, whatever you feel like that day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. That makes sense. I don't know where the credits vs costs came into play in my situation, but the realized cost at the end of the day to me was $0, and FWIW I went from a non-USAA lender original loan to a USAA refi Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. We paid no sh!t $0. The balance from our previous loan was the exact amount of the new loan, just a different interest rate. we used USAA, and they covered 100% of any associated costs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. We did the IRRL (no cost) refi and it was no kidding $0 for us, as well as reducing our rate. We got to skip 2 mortgage payments and it ended up cutting our mortgage payment by a couple hundred bucks. We had owned the home for about 4.5 years and we just kept our payments the same but the difference from the old payment we applied to principle only so it will pay off significantly earlier. It's not a bad deal, and I was incredibly skeptical at first as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. What I've told my guys who want to apply is this - think about not getting selected right now. Would there be things you can control that you would wish you had done? If so, do them before applying. If there is anything within your control that you can do to make your application stronger, do it. A lot of things in the AF are timing and luck, but don't ever give yourself the opportunity to say "I wish I'd done xxxx" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. The wife and I went to see it the other night...BLUF - it's an entertaining movie. It's not even close to the first one, but I don't think it's tries to be. It's way more goofy and the acting is pretty reminiscent of a movie you'd see on SiFy, but it was fun to watch. If you go into it without expecting it to live up to the first one, you won't be disappointed too much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I can't speak to the Green-Blue or AFRC/ANG, but I know 4 AD folks who received both an age and time waiver in the past couple years. They were all aircrew of some kind, and were all around the same age/time as you. I don't know how many people applied and didn't receive waivers, but there's one data point for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm pretty much ok with a secession of NY Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Yeah that look to be the case...LAF guys who pinned Capt anytime in 2013 will meet the board 4 Dec 17 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. 2 for the ACSC OLMP. I am in the middle of it now and I had more difficult work in elementary school. I spend about 90 minutes a week on it, the only exception being the "final exam" papers, which take about 3-4 hours total to knock out. If you're looking for an easy, free degree that wont use TA/GI Bill its a solid choice. I think somehow it counts for some kind of ACSC credit, if that kind of thing matters to you
  12. Just make one mortgage payment at the max amount, and use that months statement as your justification for max BAH Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Recycle sarcasm detector Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. But...but...Chang said they were cutting BAH in order to pay for the bonus... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. So, if I'm reading this correctly (starting on pg 249)...if your current BAH rate is $1700 but your mortgage/rent is $1000, you only get $1000. Someone please correct me if I'm misunderstanding the text. What a clusterf*ck http://www.armed-services.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/S2943%20-%20Committee-Passed%20NDAA.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I spoke to a few buddies at CBM and they've said the DO has gone into each flight a few weeks before dream sheets are due and told the studs point blank they will do one tour in RPA's and then back to manned flying. Apparently some studs asked for it in writing and the DO as well as the Sq/CC basically said "take our word for it"
  17. if the class size is increasing, I would surmise that the ratio of T38:T1 increases accordingly. as for the overall increase in class size, its the standard pendulum swing of AFPC
  18. It's difficult to push our very best through significant jobs positions because they're all breaking the gate down to get out. That's why it's hard to get good senior leadership. Fix retention and you'll suddenly find a wealth of great leaders available Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I definitely agree about the self-righteous attitude that has become much more common lately. I hope he was fired for something like what you described; given the normal standard of (any) media outlet today it's probably somewhere in between. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. http://patriotpost.us/posts/43033 The dumb-fu@kery in this situation is hard to comprehend. The manager said he was "offended by his passion for the flag"...really?! Since when did respecting the flag become offensive or a "political affiliation"? Another gut-punch to my faith in the future of this country... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Shhhh...no logic here, just trust that Chang knows how to fix all this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. So everyone is hosed in order to pay for a single-digit percentage of guys who take the bonus? Awesome logic, Chang. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. The spreadsheets back it up...well I guess the problems solved guys! The spreadsheet are good! And did you really like your own post? Was that supposed to give it more credibility? Or did you forget to switch back to your ILS profile and like it as the other guy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. This is a very true statement, but don't have any delusions - you're not one of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
