It's not just about the money. Money is in line with the rest of the issues plaguing this job. Money is just the easiest, most tangible, identifiable symptom of a broader malaise. My thesis is this: if there was a way to graph other QoL (home and work) indicators, they would roughly correlate. We are paid substantially less than we were roughly twenty years ago, in two specific categories: 1) Flight pay 2) ACP Both of those pays have remained stagnant to inflation for over two decades. $1k / $35k doesn't nearly cover the spread. If those two pays were at least adjusted for inflation, the remaining issues would at least change in perspective. But until that happens, we are essentially negotiating low cost items. Pushing sleeves up? Ancillary duties? Fewer/clickable CBTs? These are just low/no cost gimmes.

Having a $4m preschooler at home, I can say that it's a tough figure to peg down on an individual basis, but cannot be ignored regardless. -
Loss of Clock/Loss of Data doesn't count.

Single option transport of the entire STS kit and kaboodle? SRBs, EFT, and orbiter.

Pretty sure this is trolling. This is the only post, (not source), where I've seen this uttered.

Yeah, how about four decades with the same engine, countless requests for a new engine, one or two go aheads only to have the funding "redirected" What if.

This was actually your best argument. I mean, really, that hair. That nugget. You stay angry, San Diego.

Hhhm, No. Don't get me wrong, when TC first wrote his Dear Boss letter a half decade ago, I was one of the ones up on my desk jumping and cheering. But the brand has tarnished, that's for sure. As a metaphor, think about other media sources that you've seen handle aviation stories, for instance. Once you have an expert working knowledge of a field, then see it mangled by journalists who only take the time to get a half inch deep understanding of what they then write about, you get the point. In this case, JQP (or whoever is currently carrying the nom de plume) has seized on nothing in an attempt to shake the tree for fruit. I've gotten into more than a handful of bar conversations about the veracity of JQP over time. Bar conversations with folks that have a more intimate knowledge of certain events than I do, and they take a much more jaundiced eye toward JQP, and it's often telling. This story in particular, (if you can manage to get yourself past the CC's haircut and nugget for a moment) is toilet paper thin. It's a policy letter. Read 1-2. The CC is clearly articulating policy, not much more. Since when did unit PT become some abhorrent punishment? Really? Are we a part of UAW now? Can't organize PT unless the union bosses approve? There's plenty that's fucked up about our PFT model. Lets start with a 6'2" dude waist measuring the same as a 5'4" dude: doesn't pass the logic test, but here we are. But if someone is min-running the numbers and the CC wants to attempt a glove save; a CC that actually wants to engage his NCOs to lead; a CC that actually wants to (gasp) Organize, Train, and Equip his squadron for success; that is now offensive? FFS, this is a far cry from the Dear Boss letter that lamented the neutered state of a sitting commander.

Buuuuullllsshiiit I would take that non-continuation letter, frame it in carbonite, send copies to an attorney, the Washington Post, and an unnamed trusted agent in case I were to befall "an unfortunate event", and demand my separation pay under threat of contacting all 535 congresscritters. Their fuckup. They own it. #PayUp

It takes you a lot lower than that. P without IDE is a rare select indeed.

Prometheus, Covenant, 3 more to follow with a lead in to Alien. So far, so good. First two were entertaining, but not watered down and insulting. Given modern CGI, it's plain to see that the only thing that could fuck it all up is shitty middle school writing and a raging merchandising boner. Gawddayum I really wish Lucas would have sold Star Wars to Disney BEFORE that Roger Rabbit Phantom Menace abortion got started. [RANT OFF]

Dude, you would be shocked at how false this speculation is. More and more OGs these days with fewer hours than the CGO IPs that they "lead". The typical exceptions have a patch on their arm, and a few others just maintain IP qual/proficiency just because they are good shit, bit they're going quickly the way of the dodo.

That's Big Blue.

While I agree overall, I think the concept of "vetted" is unsupported. DTS and its associated booking tools are no different than any other bureaucratic sacred cow; re: GTCC. Every time you pick up the phone and book your own lodging with non-a in hand, a kitten dies and ISIS wins. Use DTS or the "contract lodging" that the lodging desk "helps you out" by booking before they hand your non-a over with that hotel named in the sub paragraphs. BS. I travel constantly as part of my current job, and I've been booked squarely in some shady spots that I wouldn't bring my family. Why? Because the folks I'm traveling for wilt at the thought of going over JTR max rates. Arts and crafts convention in town? Tough: max rate is max rate. As far as CCs having discretion, that begs the question: how did we get here in the first place? Yeah, this is going to be used as a bludgeon at some point. Bank on it.

5 IPZ DPs that didn't get promoted. Wow, I have to imagine that there's some promotion party venue cancellations going out this week.
