  1. Man, to think all those "we need diversity candidates" lectures were wasted. But still, they know better than me and aren't afraid to lecture me on such. Along with stating that VP and Supreme Court picks will be based on genitalia and/or pigmentation. What could possibly go wrong?
  2. Houston rodeo cancelled: https://abc13.com/6003475/ Just sayin'... PANIC!!! Everyone sell now. Sell, sell, sell. "Hello, stockbroker? I'd like to place some buy orders..."
  3. Indeed. He's no Winston Churchill. But more importantly, he's no Hillary Clinton.
  4. So Biden had another senior moment yesterday when confronted by a union worker who was pro-2nd Amendment and had his facts together to challenge Biden on his position on guns AND his public statements regarding same. Besides cussing at the voter, Joe asks if "he wants to go outside" while having a finger in the guys face. Wonder how the press would react if someone accepts the old man's challenge. Won't actually be a physical altercation, but just the acceptance would really put Biden in a jam that the media would be hard-pressed to spin away. edited to add: A little judge on judge action. (For the liberals, don't turn your nose up because it's Fox. Strangely, given the topic, I assumed the liberal media would be all over it.) https://www.foxnews.com/politics/disorder-in-the-courts-federal-judge-blasts-justice-roberts Not sure how blatant disrespect is treated in the judiciary. Be interesting to see if there's consequences. And a lesson learned about "there are no Obama judges, no Bush judges," etc.
  5. I am amused at the Democrat party currently. The two leading candidates are both old white men. The DNC is literally ignoring the one remaining candidate, a smart minority woman. From the party who cherishes "diversity." One of them is seemingly in early Alzheimer's never mind his political record and adopting of the most leftward policies on this campaign trail. His third try, by the way. 1988, he had to withdraw after being caught plagerizing a British politician's speeches. And beaten by Obama in 2008, who he called a "clean, well-spoken black man." The other is literally a Socialist and not a member of the Democrat party. And had a heart attack during this campaign. Amazes me that Trump literally will be the youngest, healthiest contestant in the ring. That took some doing.
  6. Dunno. 6-9 hours frozen in your B-17/B-24 for 25-35 trips or a week or more frozen on a steam-powered freighter or worst, a tanker prior to May 1943 with the return trip awaiting. A real shame it took so long for the Merchant Marine guys to get recognized as WWII 'vets.'
  7. Hope this will be worth a ticket: https://youtu.be/eyzxu26-Wqk
  8. Not my candidate by a long shot, but funny is funny. Including the pearl clutching at the "doctored video" drama being claimed. Humor - what a concept.
  9. Now, if you'll excuse me, you're blocking the aisle of the Class VI and that sale on Sailor Jerry's isn't gonna last forever...
  10. So, Mr/Ms/non-gender specific form of address squadron commander, Tell us how much time you can devote to, you know, the mission in your DOC statement and how much on such silliness?
  11. Ok, this Wuhan Flu/SARS II The Revenge/Walking Dead escaped virus sh!t is getting serious. The Chinese have delayed/cancelled their F1 race in April. How else am I going to see how the pretty people blow (no sts) hundreds of millions of dollars/yuan in a communist country?
  12. Hey, look at this way; Hillary and Romney are still not President. All in all, a good use of three or so months of gubmint time and effort.
  13. Was the action worthy of firing a commander? Or more worthy of a closed door one-way conversation? Does the firing contribute to the next guy being inflexible to mistakes that don't bend metal or hurt anybody? Either way, DAL/AA/UAL/SWA, et al gain.
  14. I'm not a movie fanatic nor a particular movie critic; I like what I like. I don't like being "woken," I don't like being lectured to, I want to be entertained. If stuff blows up, beautiful women are scantily clad yet somehow classy and available, and the writing is good, I'm in. The James Bond films before he got 'woke,' are in my comfort zone. I like semi-historical films as well. I have not seen, nor planning to see, most of the nominated films for this year. 1917 was a good solid movie. Well done, authentic in the details, interesting story. But to answer your question, Tarentino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" was a better, more entertaining move to me. The characters, the actors' portrayals, the writing, and the weird ending entertained me.
  15. A good, solid, well made war movie. Don't regret mixing with the riff-raff which is one of my criterion for movie-going. Best picture award winner? Nope.
  16. Probably not particularly helpful, but I remember vividly the briefing for my one and only ejection-seat equipped jet (the mighty AT-38B) from 20 years ago given by my utterly disinterested charioteer: "Don't touch nothin'. If, after this briefing, you hear the word "eject," pull those two handles up and squeeze the triggers. If, after the third "eject" you have not done so, you may start logging solo time. Questions?" Concise and obviously memorable.
  17. Vale, sir.
  18. My crew and I were on patrol under the brown flat waves of a remote part of North Dakota when Just Cause kicked off. We had just brought the USS Echo-Zero up to periscope depth to arrange a VERTREP (Amn cook coming down with heated up microwave meals) when CNN brought us the news. Salute.
  19. Ok, boomer. See? It works on several levels here... I'll show myself out...
  20. https://www.totalprosports.com/2019/12/11/commissioner-roger-goodell-says-the-nfl-has-moved-on-from-colin-kaepernick/ I imagine this will also affect his post-NFL employment so instead of asking him to bring my BMW around, the venue where he's likely to be employed would better suit my Ford 4-wheel drive... Say, Nike, how's the shoes working out for ya?
  21. OPR: Brig Gen Goodwin https://gazette.com/military/air-force-academy-removes-commandant-of-cadets-amid-investigation/article_7d20dc86-6aae-11e9-83cc-2b0168fe8995.html Too soon?
  22. Question: in today's market, how does a recently retired USAF fixed wing pilot NOT get hired by a major? I assume, assuming all basics - ATP, etc - are in place that it either comes down to the interview or a version of a black-ball from someone who knows the candidate. Follow-on questions: - How does one blow (sts) the interview? - If some form of a black-ball, how does the company know of such? Are potential hires known/announced? Is it word of mouth? My curiousity is because a former commander very recently was turned down by a major. Not sorry as the individual would very quickly let everyone know he/she was the smartest person not only in the room, but ever. But that news led me to wonder the above. Might help those pursuing such a job.
  23. Brazil race was reasonably entertaining. Wonder how Sainz felt being awarded 3d well after the fact? "Yea, congrats, but the champagne and the podium have been packed away." Cannot believe the damage caused by the seemingly light touch between the Ferraris. How do explain that one to the boss...? RUMINT is that Haas might bail after next year since their team points are so low. As to Grojean, I kinda like the unpredictability factor. Some days he's very, very good. Others, he's a kamikaze. Which makes it sporty for the rest of the field.
  24. A tasty, if dry, cocktail prior to the main course FISA report being released supposedly around the first of December. https://oig.justice.gov/reports/2019/a20009.pdf Senate hearings on the FISA report are scheduled to begin 11 December.
  25. You give Ivan much more credit than I. The current divisiveness is all 'Merican. It's good for ratings/clicks and feeds the outrage machine so the coal keeps getting shoveled into the respective angry machines. (Not a green metaphor I admit. Greta would not be amused...) And my previous post related to the current outlook for the 2020 Presidential election is not denigrating one side. If I'm one side, I'm feeling pretty optimistic. If I'm on the other, perhaps not. Except for the comment about the undead Hillary. That was meant literally. I abhor censorship.
