The f-16 was supposed to be a day only VFR interceptor. It's good if we build our aircraft to be flexible enough for unforseen circumstances. Also, there aren't going to be any legacy aircraft left - that's the whole point of the f-35, right?

Should we consider talking with someone from another AFSC "PME"? I don't discount the value in those interactions, but doesn't that speak to ACSC's lack of effectiveness from an academic point of view if that's the best thing you get out of the course?

Do people actually learn stuff at PME like ACSC or AWC? SOS was an 8 week vacation from the CAF - I expected ACSC to just be a 12 month vacation with nebulous benefits.

From what I've heard, a longer UPT ADSC is the only serious option being considered by HAF to "fix" the pilot retention problem. For the cadets reading this, don't sign a 13 year contract or a 15 year contract. According to this year's retention statistics, > 50% of you will regret it.

If you PM me I can give you the contact info for a guy that just did it. He was HUGE into fitness and still said that the physical tryout portion was pretty intense. I seem to remember him saying that some of the guys that tried out with him didn't make the cut for that reason alone.

When they give you the "opportunity" to reclass AFSCs, do not fall for it. The few guys released back to manned aircraft all had maintained their 11 prefix. This is secondhand, so please correct me if my info is out of date.

I'd take an iPad mini with an ADS-B puck with me in the viper. More use to me than the HSD going to and from the airspace.
