All your questions have to do with pulling out (sts) retirement money to fund a down payment. Sure, you can do it if you want, but it is not a good idea. Why are you not looking at a VA loan? You don't need a down payment. The funding fee is rather small. There are even places that will pay a large part of your fees just so they can get your business... Don't throw away long term investment money to make a down payment.

Correct. If you do not fly for 3 months, you stop accumulating gate months in the 4th month. Sims don't count. The wings are based on 3,000+ hours and >15 years of aviation service. As long as you have a current AO for 15 years of time and 3,000+ hours (or 15 years on AOs and 2,300+ hours with 144+ gate months) then you get the toilet bowl. You get your first set of AOs when you graduate UPT.

Because standards in some career fields were never lowered to include women...I guess that Navy chick that ate the back end of a carrier was up to standards until that point, right? I know many badass chicks who can hack it but we all know the standards will be lowered to get women in the door. Which is sad because it takes away from those who deserve to be there.

Just ask the pilots I know who are doing great on their AAD but sucking at their primary job how that BAC+/MAS is working out for them. Hint: they're at the bottom of the stack. Perhaps it is a fluke, but from my direct experience writing on people...and talking to Wg/Gp leadership (not their execs)...the AAD only counts if you're already doing your primary job well.
