  1. I like that you get more points for a PT exempt than a pass.
  2. Nothing wrong with this, unless they have their pubs already and can start studying. Perhaps it is my little microcosm of AMC, but I still see the people who do the j-o-b getting the top copilot strats. At the same time I'll tell you to do your AAD at "the right time"...when you've got a good grasp on your jet and office job, I'll also tell you to get your SOS done immediately when you're eligible because it's so damn easy...if it took any kind of brainpower or time away from the j-o-b, then it might be a different story. Plus, if you wind up in some weird job where you can't do SOS in residence...I know a few people who didn't go because of luck/timing...it's just good to be done. Same reason why I knocked out ACSC as soon as I could and before I pinned on Maj...because I doubt I'll ever go in residence. It feels good to be done. Right time, right place, right uniform. Oh god, did I just quote G-Lo?
  3. No. Not good on them. Unless they are the top wingman, copilot, or whatever because of their knowledge, skill, and flying ability...and they still have free penguins for the AAD. But if they're trading off primary job performance for an AAD, they're absolutely wrong. Stop perpetuating this crap. You don't need an AAD to make Capt. You need to be good in your primary job. AAD is for Maj only because the man demands it.
  4. The new Brightline bags are awesome. http://www.brightlinebags.com/ Modular...so you can carry the small pilot bag or the giant FE bag. Very rugged and durable.
  5. FML. All my ADP updates randomly reverted to some shit I put in about 15 years ago...after I had saved a copy and verified it was all set. Fucking piece of shit fuckstick system.
  6. Sounds like a great staff officer! Just pushing buttons. Dude that sucks ass.
  7. Marines are the same...if you need a masters degree, one of your assignments will be to Naval Postgraduate School for two years.
  8. You can't sign up for the OLMP if your AAD is complete.
  9. They're funded mostly by sponsors. Like Coca Cola or some shit.
  10. You do know the DP % for O-4 is 75% and for O-5 is 55%, right?
  11. If you exceed 86% of base pay or something like that you will get flagged by the system for review before they let you contribute that much.
  12. Roth TSP deposits are allotments set up using the MyPay website. Tax free money can be deposited into the Roth TSP up to the elective deferral limit of $17,500. To deposit more than $17,500 up to $51,000, you must put the deposit into the Traditional TSP. The combat zone allowance for us to go up to the $51,000 total contribution limit is our equivalent to the matching employer deposits other agencies get.
  13. My good sir, no one would ever be that stupid. Everyone knows the right time to fast track someone is when they're a Captain.
  14. Tony Carr's rebuttal on JQP is good.
  15. I stand by my earlier assertion. This smacks of cutting a program that people will get vocal about and call their congresscritters and complain that they "DO SOMETHING!" Nothing more.
  16. Not true in my experience PCSing several times.
  17. http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20130301/williamsburg/couple-builds-home-out-of-shipping-containers-williamsburg WTF...they wanted to avoid paying "almost a half a million dollars" to build a brick house. So, they bought 6 shipping containers for $1,500 each...and built a $400,000 house out of shipping containers. #hipsterlogic
  18. They'd have to ditch those fancy rainbow charts, or ribbon charts, or whatever the fuck they are...since the AAD block is right there. If you haven't seen these abominations, they have every box you're expected to fill. AMC: SOS Res (DG/Top 3rd), Flt/CC, MWS (IP/EP), Special Programs (WIC, Phoenix Horizon, ARLOC, STARNOM, Aide de Camp), CCE (Level), AAD (School/Specialty), IDE Cor, IDE Res, Staff, HAF, Joint, SDE Cor, SDE Res, DT Vector. Blah, blah, blah-blah, blah.
  19. I wasn't aware you could discriminate against a nav, since they're not really people and all.
  20. There are still many around. They may not be evenly distributed among the various airframes though.
