C-17 Pilot Charged in Training Jump Death
So, did this guy refuse some other form of NJP to get to this point? Makes me think that at least he believes he has a good case.

CGO PME undergoes transformation
Talk to any L-3 contract pilot in-country.

CGO PME undergoes transformation
Do what the civilian world does when they need to send employees to Afghanistan...pay them $250,000 for a year of work and let them come home for two weeks every four months. I'm certain you'd see more volunteers if there were improved incentives.

Stop Loss For 11F
There's never been a pilot shortage, just hiring booms.

This backpack looks promising: https://www.amazon.com/R3-Safety-993701-Hi-Visibility-Green/dp/B006JSP1BK/ref=sr_1_2?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1341847908&sr=1-2&keywords=reflective+backpack I bought one similar to it a couple years ago. I seem to remember reading the reg to say that backpacks had to be brightly colored for daytime and reflective at night (both good ideas). The one I got I bought to match my yellow Icon vest.

So, anyone get hired recently?

Restoring the Draft: No Panacea
Your average American pays no price for continually voting for politicians who will vote for military evolvement and nation building. Yeah, I'm a volunteer. I also quit voting for incumbent politicians.

AF discontinues ITDY dependent travel, transportation allowances
The notification letter directs the member to the AEF Online site which breaks down the entitlements.

Lesson learned: hurry up and volunteer for your 365-ITDY before 1 July.

SOS/ACSC information
Hmm. If one can no longer 3-day opt-out of an ITDY, I'd get out at the first opportunity after my ADSC.

Promotion and PRF Information
I thought that officers in student status received a narrative-only PRF.

Boss, I quit...
Not sure I buy the phrase "pilot shortage." There will forever be an endless pool of CFIs and RJ pilots looking for a better job. Maybe the better phrase is "increased airline hiring."

Safety of Flight/Crew Rest
This, in my mind, is the ultimate issue here. I'd like to believe that ACs across the fruited plain would never make a BS crew rest/flight safety call, but it happens (Texas Hold 'em?), so someone has to make an imperfect judgement call on whether an AC is making a legit call. It's hard to prove something didn't happen...did Capt America save the day by calling crew rest? Impossible to know when/if you've broken the mishap chain. We only get good evidence when we don't break the mishap chain and someone dies. They'll second guess you either way.

3-star ripped for presentation referencing God
I knew a guy who had "Jedi" listed as his religion. On dog tags and on vMPF. Thought that was pretty cool.

Electronic flight bags could boost operational safety, effectiveness
I had forgotten about that FCIF. Personally, if there is a DoD plate available I prefer to use those. The times I need Jepps are the times I'm flying to a field with no DoD plate, making a TERPS review necessary. I should probably start flying with both just to get more familiar with the Jeppesen products.

Electronic flight bags could boost operational safety, effectiveness
This would be great, except AMC makes is so difficult to use Jepp plates.

Electronic flight bags could boost operational safety, effectiveness
I wonder if the contract price includes service and repair?

Motorcycle Riders Thread
I'd communicate that fact to your base ground safety (motorcycle) rep so he can commuicate it to the base SF types. I think AMC has a blurb that says a course is "highly encouraged" every two years, or something to that effect. Personally, I have no problem with taking a day off work to ride on AMC's dime.

SOS/ACSC information
Sure, you don't have to go to SOS.

SOS/ACSC information
My experience in 2010 was that we were just a bunch of average dudes trying to make it through 5 weeks of class. I know that there were flights that battled the fast burner mentality, but I really think that was the minority of our overall group. I really didn't interact with anyone outside our 15-person flight, so if there were backstabbers out there they only managed to stab others. SOS wasn't my favorite TDY in the Air Force, but I managed to come home without the trauma that others seem to experience.
