  1. code 3, 1 write-up...
  2. I flew the Caravan from 2012-2013 in the A-Stan so my info would be pretty dated. You can PM me if you want.
  3. 1. No. 2. Yes. Assuming you are otherwise ADSC complete.
  4. Be a doctor. Then get rich and fly for fun.

    AERO app

Haven't heard that. The newest version of Aero supports Jepp plates in cases where no DoD plate exists. For what it's worth.

    AERO app

Create an account on apps.nga.mil, login to the site on your iPad, download the Mobile Storefront, Login into the Mobile Storefront on your iPad using your credentials created for apps.nga.mil, download and Install Aero. To download Aero .zip files you'll need a Disadvantaged User account on NGA. Get that then you can download all the Aero data you want, including Giant Reports, from inside Aero. Why would you want Aero on your personal iPad? The .zip files are pretty large.
  7. I put 707 on my ticket about two years ago at the D.C. FSDO. The guy thought it was pretty funny.
  8. I get that squadrons are undermanned, but you could stay at work till 8pm everyday and there would still be OPRs to review tomorrow. Unless you're part of some sweet union that hooks you up with overtime pay, do your overtime on your missions and let the queep get done when it gets done.
  9. I misspoke. Should read IDE candidate. Edited.
  10. This thread always blows up when Chang pops in, tosses his grenade, and sits back to watch. I'm not as bitter as others on this thread, but the question of "would I have joined" if I knew then what I know now is a difficult. Unfortunately you just cannot predict how an Air Force career is going to go from the gate. You're signing up for an unpredictable career and sometimes it's going to go off the rails through no fault of your own. With the ADSC at ten years I think it's reasonable to sign up as a pilot. No other career makes sense to me. It takes 8-10 years of Air Force flying to make airline mins and then you're primed for an airline career. No chance would I sign up for an ADSC of more than ten years. I signed the 5 year bonus (I became 20 YAS bonus-eligible the next year so I signed that too) for two reasons: 1) I had just finished a non-vol short tour and felt reasonably confident I wouldn't have to do another and 2) I had just gotten a great assignment following the 365 and life would be stable for 4 years. Also, as a IDE candidate I was confident I was not going to school so I saw that as a plus. Being an Air Force pilot is cool, but the truth is that it comes with a lot of non-pilot duties for some reason. Some of that stuff can be blown off but some can't without issues. Sign up knowing that you won't be a full time pilot in the Air Force. It is still a reasonable and somewhat inexpensive pathway to the airlines. You'll have less debt but it will cost you in other ways.
  11. Maybe it got rolled into the entire forum dedicated to his posts...

    USAA

I've always been impressed with how quick USAA figures out that I didn't spend $400 at Zappos.com, or buy a new iPhone at the Sprint store in Albuquerque.
  13. Didn't he just say that reputation of SR + "super P" = good? But look, bottom line is that AMC promoted like 5 dudes to Lt Col who had Ps this last board. I forget the stats AF wide. BL on the bottom: if you have a P, you're probably not gonna get promoted to Lt Col in AMC.
  14. I wonder if in these cases they had instructor duty in previous aircraft, but due to crossflow hadn't upgraded to IP yet? Everything you need to know about AMC is on slide 27: AMC IPZ Recommendation: DP: 69 Considered, 68 Promoted P: 57 Considered, 8 Promoted. If you get a P, you know exactly where you stand in AMC.
  15. Selection PSDM 16-25 is up on MyPers. https://gum-crm.csd.disa.mil/app/answers/detail/a_id/30767 Congrats to the selects!

    USAA

Moved all my investments and insurance out of USAA last year. No regrets. Stayed with them for checking, savings, and a credit card. They just weren't competitive on insurance rates or expense ratios.
  17. https://www.afpc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123470944 no longer exists. Maybe related to https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-03-22/boeing-likely-to-miss-delivery-date-for-tankers-pentagon-says No PSDM on MyPers that I can find
  18. This is not the issue. Nobody doubts your awesomeness. I just fail to see why your Union isnt more upset about doing the same work as an officer for less pay. At the very least you should be demanding equal pay for equal drone work.
  19. IOT&E selects from last year were released around October and told to recompete at the February call for applicants.
  20. Ah yes. The KC-135A. Built back when man thought he could burn water.
  21. How do guys working on joint staffs under non AF leadership get DPs? Does the MLR do that automatically or does the SR have to reach out to the MLR?
  22. Nice. The non-DP DP. I wonder if civilian promotion records work like that.
  23. Bonuses pre-2000s may have been like that. Before my time. But today if you sign the bonus you could get up to 9 payments of $25k before taxes. That's $100k more than someone that signed the bonus in 2012. But, as we've all seen, not even that had been enough to slow the outflow.
