  1. They're going to need a bigger jack.
  2. Can one learn this magic?
  3. Reminds me of the A/TA pilot shortage seminar at last year's convention.
  4. That stupid online booking tool only exists to provide mandatory preferential treatment to hotel chains that have paid to play with DoD. The taxi lobby must also be strong in D.C. because I am now supposed to check that taking a cab 25 miles to the airport and 25 miles back to my house is cheaper than paying long term parking.
  5. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/national-security-adviser-mcmaster-trump-s-revelations-russians-wholly-appropriate-n760136 McMaster said: "I was in the room, the Secretary of State was in the room, as you know, the deputy adviser for national security, Dina Powell, and none of us felt in any way that conversation was inappropriate." Sooooo...someone is lying?
  6. The term "Fake news" is being misused now. "Fake news" is a teenager in a basement in Serbia writing headlines like "Clinton has Affair with Comey" and publishing it on iWashingtonPost.biz, a domain he just registered and designed to look exactly like the Washington Post site, then posting it on Facebook. Hopefully a legit news source retweets it. Or better yet, Sarah Palin. Millions of Facebook users blindly share it because the headline looks legit. Fake News is not an article written by the WashPo that uses anonymous sources that one day turn out to be wrong. That is just "wrong news" and legit journalists and editors by profession are supposed to stop the publishing of "wrong news." The Rolling Stone article on campus rape at UVA (i think) is one of the best modern examples of the failure of this system. Everyone knows all news sources have editorial bias that often appears in regular news reporting. Cable news has basically become 24 hour editorializing. But please' let's stop calling all news we disagree with "fake news".
  7. Which majcom?
  8. Thanks. Alamo never contacted me back and copy all on Airbnb. Worked out a PIT pad, so all is well.
  9. This is so dumb. Trump didn't even win as many votes as Clinton, so the Russians did a pretty lousy job "hacking" the election for Trump. Explain to me how some freaking Russian cyber thugs knew how to expertly place an influence campaign in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan while the Clinton campaign itself couldn't figure it out.
  10. Good luck everyone...
  11. Has anyone ops checked Alamo Corporate Housing lately (ref: a few pages back) for furnished apartments? Anyone used Airbnb in the area with success?
  12. Cliffs Notes: Root Cause 1: The airlines are hiring like mad. Root Cause 2: Demographic trends make it hard to be a military pilot. Root Cause 3: We have been in a steady-state of crisis for 15+ years. Root Cause 4: Despite that ongoing state of war, we have been under constant budget pressure and our job security has been at risk. Second Order Cause 1: Military Pilots do shockingly little flying. Second Order Cause 2: It isn’t about the money, but the Air Force made it about the money. Second Order Cause 3: The Air Force organizational structure is not designed to retain pilots if they are not tracking to command and promotion to senior management ranks. Second Order Cause 4: The Air Force personnel and manpower apparatus lacks the ability to maintain the “right” number of pilots at the “right” experience level. I'm actually thinking of copy/pasting this and emailing it to Gen Everhart's suggestions box.
  13. I always assumed they had a dart board in the 365 office and tacked a list of names up and threw a dart when they got put in a bind. I was hit with a 365 with just 10 years of service because I happened to check a bunch of boxes on the line remarks for the position. I was probably the only one on a 365 without prior E experience in that little corner of Afghanistan.
  14. Stopping the PCS madness is a great idea. 5 years should be the standard. All a typical pilot needs till he goes to ACSC are jobs at/below the Wing level anyway. All that can be done in one place. If you want to move after 5 years but before 10 look for a job in a squadron somewhere else and get hired there. Let Sq/CCs hire their squadrons. I'm sure there are tons of problems with this idea.
  15. DOPMA. They have a moving target. It's not uncommon for the increment to change.
  16. Active Duty Increments for Promotion to Lieutenant Colonel March LAF, CY16B: Quota 140, Remaining 766 April LAF, CY16B: Quota 140, Remaining 626 May LAF, CY16B: Quota 140, Remaining 486 June LAF, CY16B: Quota 81, Remaining 405 July TBD Active Duty Increments for Promotion to Major March LAF, CY16C: Quota 261, Remaining 1120 April LAF, CY16C: Quota 261, Remaining 859 May LAF, CY16C: Quota 261, Remaining 598 June LAF, CY16C: Quota 150, Remaining 448 MyPers doesn't list increments before March, so I'm not sure when the increment went from 180 to 261, but beginning in June the increment will decrease to 150, at which rate the Major list will be exhausted in September and the Lt Col list (increment of 81 in June) will be exhausted in November. I've not paid close attention to board other than my own, but I've never seen a LAF list start pinning on before January.
  17. They just slow the increment down.
  18. Pin on won't start before January regardless, no? That said, it would be nice to know which pile my PRF was in sooner than June.
  19. Guess so. I've been out of the tanker for 5 years.
  20. Not sure of your background, but this bears little to no resemblance to the Air Force I know from a KC-135 background. I'm sure this happens but I think you're over-generalizing.
  21. Personal foul, offense, 15-yard penalty, automatic first down.
  22. Move along folks.
  23. With extra syphilis.
