  1. This thread turned awesome real quick.
  2. Thanks Marty and team from Trident! We had an on time mail-in VA loan closing and Ashley was able to help negotiate the logistics of closing from a different state. Marty gave me a good rate and I opted for lender discounts. Ill definitely be following up if rates stay low for the no-cost IRRRL in 6 months.
  3. That probably depends on if you have reached your bonus date yet. Eidt to add: I believe signing the $30k/yr bonus has to be for a length equal to or greater than the original contract. So, one year at $25k (original contract) and 9 years under the new $35k/yr contract. I may be wrong though.
  4. So my understanding is that early signers will get one payment of $25k then 9 payments of $30k (for MAF pilots). Hence the additional year ADSC since they'll be getting 10 years of payments. Or they could stay in their current contract and receive 9 payments of $25k and get out at 20 YAS.
  5. From what I've heard on the MAF FB page the lawyers looked at the NDAA and decided that the AF had to do it this way to comply with the law Congress wrote.
  6. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/06/air-force-grounds-f-35a-operations-at-training-base-after-pilots-suffered-hypoxia/ F-35 hypoxia event leads to grounding.
  7. Former special ops... Future fighter pilot.... Does that make him a SpecOps-Fighter Pilot?
  8. Mad dog approves.
  9. The date is the first date your application is accepted.
  10. OPR yes. Fitness test, not sure. Depending on your SR he/she may withhold your retirement medal if you are not current on PT test.
  11. You should get feedback from your immediate supervisor and/or rater, or Sq/CC if you're at the squadron. If he/she doesn't schedule you, schedule yourself. You should get PRF feedback from your SR. If you're meeting an IPZ board your should schedule yourself when PRFs are done. You should have probably seen a draft of the PRF before it was sent up. The only thing new to you should be the push line on the bottom. Like others have said, even if the DP box isn't checked, if you don't see the words "definitely promote" in the push line you have a big question to ask.
  12. I've never understood why someone would want to stay in past 20, unless they dreamed of being a Colonel in command of a Group or Wing or whatever. But few people really know they're going to make O-6 at the ten year point that it makes no sense to sign a 13 year bonus.
  13. Yay! Now, if they could fix the problem of fly pay that would be great.
  14. Obviously not easy enough since the pay hasn't changed in a generation. The bonus to 20 YAS was a good start but the DoD and AF need to address fly pay, you know, the pay you get every month to make your job comparable to non AF flying. I get that nobody wants to say they joined for the money. I joined for the money. I also joined to get a retirement at 20 years. I also love my country but I don't work for free. There is a price where the AF would stop bleeding talent. They are either unable or unwilling to pay for it. Fix the money. Then fix the rest of the stupid stuff.
  15. This is exactly what the "it's not about the money" line gets you. Of course it's about the money. It's also about some other stuff. So let's stop saying its not about the money.
  16. How is you have thread-making privileges?
  17. Are you serious right now?
  18. Counter-counter argument. I'm actually pretty good friends with our wing FM officer....I wouldn't know the first thing about his job after a week of OJT. Do you have any idea what the wing FM OIC actually does? Now, could you do the Amn's job at rh customer service counter after a week? No doubt.
  19. Wing exec passed over at my base.
  20. Or type CY17A is the search bar. It's the top result.
  21. what is the timeline for seeing line numbers in vMPF?
  22. This. This is the classic definition of "super P".
  23. Same here. Ps were 50/50 at my base. I made the list with a Super P. So strange this system. The question of if continuation was offered to all pilots is what I want to know. Edit to add: 11M here.
