    Which state does not offer a non-driving ID card? Standing in line for an hour with your birth certificate, passport, or whatever is not too high a price for a valid ID. Nobody has any problem bringing their ID for beer, but ask someone to bring the ID to the voting station you’d think you were asking the impossible.

    Malcom Gladwell’s most recent episode of his podcast addresses the issue of Mexican migration. It doesn’t follow the classic immigrant fairy tale Americans like to hear based on the Italian and Jewish migrations of the previous century in that Mexicans tend to be seasonal migrant workers that return to their homes in Mexico after the season is over. So, sealing and enforcing the border actually led migrants to stop returning to Mexico after the growing season because it became too difficult to re enter the country for the next season. As a result we have the dreamer phenomenon of the current decade based on immigration policies from a generation ago. No real point to this but to point out an interesting difference between Mexican immigration and the Statue of Libery poem.

    This seems like a horrible idea to me for a lot of reasons. My upside down flying stopped after Tweets and I was never really great at it anyway. Which explains why I tracked T-1s. Until the AF gets out of the “specialized” part of SUPT it seems like it’s locked into the current paradigm. I mean, I like jalapeño popcorn. But not for breakfast.

    I think Goldfein is genuine in his desire to revitalize the squadrons. However, I think he undervalues the impact a real bonus would have on retention.

    Plus it's awesome to tell your coworkers, "yes, you did read that email and sent me a read receipt." Even 4 years later... 😄

    Valid. Like I said, there are serious systemic problems in the AF. This is one of them. Most people in the AF haven’t been screwed like this tho. I understand that it doesn’t make your situation any better.

    I honestly don’t know what could bother anyone with less than 4 years in the AF. Seriously, what are Lts complaining about that hasn’t been complained about for generations? Look, I understand that there are systemic things wrong with the AF. I understand that we are over-extended and undermanned—and underpaid. But so little of this touches anyone below Captain or Sergeant.

    I dunno, back when I was a Gp exec I flew 4 weeks out of 6 and exec'd 2 weeks out of 6. Still managed plenty of "operational" flying while I was out of the squadron. Of course, we had 4 majors getting paid six figures to do a single GS-9's job at the Gp exec office. But that is a discussion for a different thread.

    So no matter what really happened she lied? What a bizarre thing to write. Really no matter what happened if an O-6 is screwing an E-3 the O-6 deserves to be fired whether there is consent or not.
