  1. Good call. Sign me up for IEU!
  2. No can do. I’ve been mowing my lawn in my tan boots for like 8 years now. They’re not ... um ... serviceable anymore 🤔 Sorry everyone. Gotta stick with green till I retire. 😂
  3. unfortunately it's also true. good leaders are often just as surprised as everyone else when a good person gets passed over. unless you're on the board (or it's clear from the record) it's often just a O-6 guessing as to why you were passed over.
  4. My dad passed away last New Year's Eve and my mom will eventually hand me my dad's Vietnam and Navy Reserve logbooks. I'll carry those books with me till I pass them to my kid, should one choose to be a flyer. His handwriting in those logbooks is an awesome keepsake. I keep my logbook in Excel, but it just doesn't have the same feeling, you know?
  5. That's why Lt Bagodonuts shouldn't be working these things. Coordination occurs at the staff level. If that is failing, a GO needs to crush the staff, not piss on some poor Lt and tell him to "just make it work." Oh, and I hope your brain doesn't get fried with the VR frame rate issues. I'm sure a human factors study would have been appropriate, but, you know, innovate.
  6. None of those were going to fundamentally change the balance of the SCOTUS for decades. Anyone the Rs appoint will be slandered and destroyed unless they are a known “swing” voter.
  7. Ok now that is just straight up BS
  8. Because when they took the fix to fix out they didn’t also reduce the syllabus by 25%. You teach flying by getting in a plane and flying. You teach procedures in a sim. VR is fine. But it won’t replace stick time.
  9. https://glass.aero/shop/ edit to add: I think these would be pretty sweet to have. But teaching a T5101 Stan how to land is difficult enough without exploding his brain with this nonsense.
  10. Well that makes sense then. I’d caution you against forming all your opinions based on the stuff you see here.
  11. I wish. But when I hear the quotes for the tech my wing is looking to purchase I can’t help but be surprised that we have that kind of money. 7 figures is too much to spend on toys.
  12. Ah the good old days. Things were different then. Yes. Even Gorsuch. Good times way back then.
  13. Ok. This is weird. You haven’t done anything yet. What exactly are you disallusioned with?
  14. Not just VR but wings are looking to buy some really expensive stuff. Unproven stuff that they don’t need.
  15. Wings can’t afford what is being sold out there for VR, etc. MAJCOMs owe the wings better than what they’re giving right now.
  16. Just saw this on Facebook. Wondering if anyone on the board was running today and how high the temps got? I’ve run it twice and the weather can get hot with not very much shade.
  17. I converted my excel file to Numbers and use cloud backup too. I couldn't imagine losing all that data from a hardware failure.
  18. Wow. Sounds like the pilots got out safe. Every UPT base now has had a T-38 mishap in the last year or so now, right?
  19. I dunno, man. At some point it's like spotting the contestant R-S-T-L-N-E. They just make the puzzle harder so you have to chose three more consonants and another vowel. If everyone has a degree then the differentiator for the good jobs will be "advanced education" or something. Before you know it everyone will be in the school system till their thirties and not contributing to the economy. Two years of technical school (electrician, diesel mechanic, plumber, etc) I can get behind. Dirty jobs. I see you. Word.
  20. What are you talking about? What are the new promotion rules?
  21. This happens every year with every board.
  22. Why? I’m not a comm guy but it seems like that many WiFi devices on a mil network would be a security nightmare. Having run an EFB program for a wing, pilots are less than, ahem, “secure” in what they’re doing with their devices at times.
  23. Why does comm need to be involved with your EFB program? Most likely these are iPads than never touch the mil network and use a commercial WiFi network that was probably installed by a contractor and is serviced by contract with the internet provider.
