Blues on Monday
That's a good one to keep in your bag of tricks for those soon to be an LPA....

Squadron Entertainment
If you make a large order from the local Hooters you can usually arrange to have a few of the girls deliver the order. They usually hang around for a while ... and they aren't strippers they're delivery girls. USUALLY works out well ... occasionally you'll get a B team (or worse) strap-hanger that then stalks the squadron.

Luke AFB pad needed
Based on the real estate market here, you should have NO problem getting an awesome pad cheap. Probably 25-30% of ALL houses in this area are vacant. If you see something you like, ask to rent it even if its just a "for sale" sign posted. Anyone trying to sell will probably rent since nothing is moving. PM for a phone number or email address if you want to talk neighborhoods or real estate agents.

Wisdom Teeth?
Avoid the Dental Hobby Shop on base for anything more significant than a cleaning! Even if it costs you cash out of pocket.

Ever bust a checkride?
I have certainly enjoyed my efforts to get to fully understand the "safety box" ... it's the unsafe boxes that worry me.

Viper (F-16) Q&A
Luke is too big to have a single OSS (it would be a huge squadron). So the OSS does airfield, weather, flight records, etc. and the TRS does the academic stuff. In general the TRS employs IPs that are attached to a B-course squadron (just like an OSS would employ a pilot attached to a squadron in a regular fighter wing) As far as being a cool squadron to be a part of ... you'd still rather be a regular line IP and just fly and deal with squadron stuff.

Living in Egypt
Looks like I may be living in Egypt for a bit. Anyone been there (TDY or otherwise)? Any tips/pointers/insults/vicious personal attacks?

24hr lodging "rule"
There is a LOT of usefull info in the JFTR for TDY and PCS. It is worth reading for familiarity. Just a few examples: You only have to check for Non-A once, one Non-A letter is good for the entire TDY, no matter what billeting says. 24 hour rule. Your boat is HHG, you get paid for the weight of it through a DITY. Your boat is HHG, you get paid for non-temp storage.

24hr lodging "rule"
Read the JFTR ... It's painful at first, but worth it when some shoe tries to pull a fast one. U1045 is a good section to have printed out for the lodging office, since they seem to screw it up the most. The answer to your question is black-and-white in U1045.B.4 ... quarters are not-available.

Top 10 Places to Have a Beer
The one in Peniscola has an expansive wine list and a cool wine "cellar" you can get a table in. I don't the Destin model has a similar setup.

Gun Talk
Unrelated --- but can anyone recommend a good gun shop around san antonio for browsing ... or a range with rentals? I'm TDY here and bored silly.

Ever bust a checkride?
Hey ... they opened up the thread to non-checkrides .... just adding a data point. I hooked for pulling through on a 70degree nose-low recovery in tweets .... (rather than rolling wings level, then pulling).
-
Ever bust a checkride?
I hooked one ride, ever. Tweets in 1998. Not a checkride.
