  1. Interesting I applaud them for at least recognizing that you should incentivize additional quals. I mean, I don’t know how much it will help but it’s warranted. The cynic in me will believe it when I see it. The cynic in me also remembers when they raised the flight pay back around 2015-2016 and we were all erroneously paid for years due to the inability to update the antiquated DOS based mil pay system to properly calculate it. Now we are going to not only have different amounts due to years of aviation service as well as different qualifications…yeah that won’t get screwed up at all. 2. Im shooting from the hip but I’m 99.9% sure that’s bullshit. As a matter of fact I know that’s bullshit because a guy I was AD with (academy grad with a regular commission) joined my ANG unit after completely separating and he got an AGR retirement and collected immediately. Go to MyPers under the Retirements section and read up on it. It’s calculated off of points and Total Active Federal Military Service. This should have no bearing on when you are eligible for or collect retirement pay. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  3. Ah yes. The “Fourth ‘first’ KC-46 squadron commander” The program was delayed so much that the last three 344 ARS/CCs before him were all supposed to be the first KC-46 Sq/CCs but never saw the jet. Rumor has it that there was a picture of him accepting a jet in their auditorium. That picture of him left McConnell soon after he departed McConnell. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  4. My understanding from my inside source down there is that WSO student typically sits up front in the right seat of the T-1 and the Nav/EWO/SO students sit in the back. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  8. I might be wrong, but I don’t think you’re supposed to have a specific aircraft type on any sort of organizational insignia. I don’t know why, maybe if your unit goes into conversion or starts flying a different airplane… I don’t know but, I do remember that as being a thing. Maybe the patch Nazis at the heritage center called them out on their F-16s after the aviation community called them out on their SU 27s? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  9. Do I get joint credit for that? It’s funny, two of the last sets of orders I took brought me to AOCs (607 and 609) and both of them allowed me to have a beer with people from this community. Just another reason to put yourself out there and find something out of the ordinary to participate in. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  11. Who says you can’t have both? Do your 11-12 years AD. Join ARC unit. Get hired by airline. Drill with unit, go on a deployment or two, sit alert. Upgrade. Go to in residence PME. Whatever to mitigate first year pay and get orders. MEST, whatever. Fly the line for year two at the airline. Continue to chip away at AD time until you’re close to or over the 15 year AD mark. Seek out a temp AGR or ADOS tour. Flying, non-flying. Doesn’t matter. There’s a lot out there, especially if you’re willing to move. There’s probably a need at your own unit the way things are going now. If you’re willing to work and you have the qualifications they are willing to give you the chance. Get to 20 active. It’ll probably take you 25 years of total service to make it happen. Go back to year 6-9 pay at your airline with an AD retirement safety net for the next economic downturn. 12. Speaking from experience, if I was your friend, I would be prepared to pay that money back at some point. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  13. I grew up in CT and I vividly remember the whole trial as it was big news and dominated local headlines in the days before the Internet. My old man worked for the Dept of Corrections starting in 1992 until he retired. He worked in “prison industries” where the prisoners would come in and work. His section did computer data entry for the State and other private entities. I’ll never forget him coming home one day early in his tenure with a look of disbelief. He said “remember that guy who put his wife through the wood chipper? He works for me doing data entry.”

I should have clarified the “shipping” part…I ordered mine in person in Epping and they sent them to an FFL in my state. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

If you ever find yourself at Pease or somewhere in the Boston metro area, the Sig Sauer pro shop in Epping NH will give you 25% off up to two firearms per year. They will ship them as well. I don’t know if they offer the same for online sales since I live close by, but it would be worth checking out. I purchased a P365 XL and I really like it. My son purchased a HK VP9 and I really like that one as well. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

  18. Shocking to think that AMC rolled out a half baked plan. Simple communication before rolling this out would have helped immensely, but here we are. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  19. No, I didn’t say that. You are more than entitled to your own opinion, but don’t generalize us all as “fighter pilot wannabes”. That’s all. And you are correct, the folks at Scott don’t just wake up one day and say “let’s do this”. Like I stated earlier, it’s one specific group at one specific Active Duty base that push these ideas. Some good ones, some bad ones…and some really, really bad ones. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  20. This is probably the dumbest sentence of this entire thread. Are you pretty sure? How many 46 pilots do you really think are out there that are thinking to themselves “damn, I really wanted fighters…not because they go fast and drop bombs and look cool but because I don’t like flying with another pilot. Maybe AMC will make the KC-46 single pilot and my itch will be tickled and I’ll be a real tanker fighter pilot! Call me Maverick!” You think this is the case? Or…maybe you’re indicting the whole KC-46 community over the actions of a handful of patches at one specific Active Duty wing at one specific Active Duty base? If you’re not in the community, you should probably stay in your lane. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  21. That checks with what I heard from a BUFF EWO on my last deployment and what I’m hearing from my kid at CSO school. 4 person crew…2 pilots upstairs, 2 WSO downstairs. I would assume then it would be similar to how the BONE operates? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums
  22. It’ll be more like Fairchild or McConnell where the AD owns the iron and the ARC wing associates with them but yes it would be an association.
