  1. There is a very easy fix for all of this general/flag officer personal misconduct but, sadly, it will never be implemented. If a GO/FO gets cashiered for personal misconduct, the service should lose that GO/FO billet for 3 years. With this, you know that shit would get fixed literally overnight. Screening and selection would instantly double in rigor. Afterall, maintaining GO/FO billets is are among the services' highest priorities...

  2. I forgot how painful the Air Force can make flying. We have airplanes. They have an airport. Go do that pilot shit.

  3. We serve at the desire of our elected officials. Period. Who approves your commission, or promotion. Think about it.

  4. Big Green/Grey/Blue should never, ever be "tempted" to intervene. IF such an "intervention" should occur, there is no longer a Republic or Constitution to uphold. Then it's just brute force in charge like most of the rest of the world. There is no unfcuking the dead whore in that instance. Barring a rerun of 1861-1865, there is not a place for DoD in the domestic U.S. political landscape. A President not upholding his oath is something for the other two co-equal branches of government to stop. BTW, I'm against retired GOFOs spouting off on endorsements/insults for political candidates. Not a big step to go from retired dudes to active duty ones.

  5. Correct. Though the McGuire guys might do it with less if they're tired enough.

  7. Props to the guys who pulled off the landing at Peter O. Night - they had little to do with our risk aversion. It's the "Q3 for landing 1 knot out of NVG ALZ crosswind limits then self-identifying for an honest mistake" that has castrated the C-17 community. When solid squadron leadership is continuously squashed by a clueless, self-absorbed OG - that's when a community curls up into giant "risk adverse" ball.

  8. I could have used a better verb than tempted, forced would have been better and by forced I mean it is absolute chaos in the streets, we are being threatened by foreign enemies trying to use the chaos to attack, the civilian government is non-functional, etc... I mean a real emergency. We would never be the same nation again, but at least the nation would survive in a new form, for the better probably not. On the subject of GOFOs participating in politics in retirement, not for or against but it does seem to be unseemly. I think that is really a product of the opinion of our elected representatives and the esteem the public holds the military and particularly high ranking military officers, rightly or wrongly. We know that democracy is of a transactional nature vice a system where individuals hold true to their principals but find some common ground with their opponents and manage to compromise accordingly and get things done. These transactions are where the sausage is made and it's not pretty, now imagining these esteemed individuals in that business just seems wrong... True, the military doing anything but standing guard will be crossing the Rubicon but what if there is no choice? That is question, where is that line? It has to exist somewhere but it is just very very far away from where we are now or probably (hopefully) ever will be.

  9. Part-time counts. I separated and joined the ANG. The transfer paperwork took a few months but I signed a contract that I am obligated to be a DSG only for 4 years. I specifically asked about it and was told that anything beyond part-time is up to me, but the obligation is only part-time. This is one of the better kept secrets of the RC. I know several dudes that were stuck on AD because of that ADSC.

  10. So if "2 Dead People 2016" wins 270 electoral votes, then what? I'd argue for letting the respective National Convention reconvene to pick replacements prior to the electoral college vote in December. This is why the Electoral College is a good idea. Technically, we're voting for electors, not President and VP. Those electors are selected by the parties, so it shouldn't be too hard to convince them to vote along partisan lines after a re-selection of candidates.

  11. As a dude who escaped from robots, it is near and dear to my heart what it's like to show up and be three or more years retarded from your peers. If career advancement is your thing, this cross flow gig is not for you. If you're tired of explaining to your FE the finer points of holding and flying upside down and killing bad guys are in your bucket list, give it a whirl. Those IGI and WG/XP positions aren't gonna fill themselves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. That works until you're an ACC tenant unit on an AFMC base and the ABW/CC is more concerned with the union than military necessity. If you've ever tried to deploy 260+ folks at one time UDM is truly a full time job.

  13. Unrelated to above,I am doing sport bitching here, but this is what is wrong with the AF. I got non vol UPT direct to RPAs. So be it, needs of the AF, undermanned career field blah blah blah. Holloman was a shit show, but they are undermanned and over worked, so be it. I have now been at my operarional base for 4 months, with about 15 other pilots/sensors that have been here just as long, if not longer. We have done ONE sim in 4 months. ing ONE sim, no flights. How can you justify sending manned pilots you just spent $1.2 million a pop to train to drones, and having them sit on their ass. Rant off. Back to my whisky.

  14. I'm not gonna lie I love old Seaplanes. I don't care if it's fiscally responsible or even mission effective over land based counterparts when you look at our tanker capability. There is a mystique to them that overrides that logic in my head and says damn those are cool Id love to fly one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
