  1. I don't know... The B model is just as capable of making noise as a harrier is.

  4. My first salute was from my dad, a retired Army CW3. He said it was one of the proudest moments of his life. He carried that silver dollar in his wallet until the day he died. He died in November, and I gave the eulogy. At the end, I returned the honor, giving him his final salute. One of the hardest days of my life.

  5. My first salute was my best friend from high school who enlisted in the Army and eventually made the rank of SSG and a QRF Team Lead. We were best men in each other's wedding and pretty much inseparable. He was shot and killed trying to rescue the crew of a downed helicopter just east of Bagram in 2011.... http://projects.militarytimes.com/valor/army-staff-sgt-james-a-justice/6321584

  6. Isn't it a sad commentary that the highest ranking officer in the Air Force says, "Guys, don't waste your time with a Master's," and we say collectively, "Nice try, but no thanks. We don't trust you. We're not going to change a thing." I fear it's a bridge too far to fix the underlying issues.

  7. So your jet is solar powered? I don't work for Shell or Exxon, but let's be honest, the green economy hadn't really set us free. Even if we are "energy independent" for the sake of argument, most of our international trading partners aren't. My point, and the point I think Chuck alluded to is that isolationism sounds great but has never worked historically. Rome, the British Empire and the US following WW II all maintained order in their time. Things usually go downhill when a superpower can't or WONT fill that role.

  8. Not too much sour grapes...but...Having checked all my boxes and drank the Kool-aid by the gallon; quite frustrating to see that someone who didn't show the same "dedication to the cause" be rewarded with the promotion. Understand ever story is unique, but it still stings....
