  1. The real root problem with "Chiefs" is the O-6s they work for who empower them to act that way. Every time I have seen an officer do anything but kotow to a Chief over his asinine 'correction', it has resulted in a direct ass-chewing from an O-6. It's to the point where the Chiefs believe they are carrying all the rank of the guy with the Eagles whom they work for - and the Colonels are not only allowing it, but they're ENCOURAGING it by their actions. The Chief knows he can confront ANY officer he sees, because he knows that if he is rebuked, he'll be able to go tattle to daddy Colonel, who will then show that officer who's the boss. It's sickening...it's like the Commander's wife who thinks she is the "commander" of all the spouses, or that she wears her husband's rank around base. We can complain about Chiefs until the sun burns out, but the REAL issue is the O-6s they work for. Until they decide to stop allowing E-9s to go on these rampages, and put their feet down about policy, there will never be a fix.

  2. It has absolutely nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with the appearance of safety. Appearances get you promoted. And if, against all odds, someone actually does get hit by a car, the careerist "leadership" can point to their stupid policies and say, "well I tried! Promote me!". This organization is completely fucked. Last one out don't forget to turn off the lights.

  3. IMHO, if a small group of SOF guys really want to (and are able to) go somewhere and turn some really evil dudes into a pile of chum, go for it. Even if we get nothing in return but a trophy for the case. As long as it's not Leeroy Jenkins style, why not? Just call it training; instead of going to the range we can practice on actual assholes. We waste a lot more money on dumber shit than this!

  5. Actually, it's Swizz Beatz who says that. Sean Carter is the one who has a bunch of problems, but a bitch ain't one.

  6. More importantly, where does it say you can't have a flashlight attached to your zipper? And just for clarification, this question is rhetorical...they can take my photon light from my cold dead hands... Better yet, who said you could have a knife clipped to the pocket rather than fully inside the pocket? Who said you could roll your sleeves up once or twice so long as they still looked all the way down? Who said you could tie your boots in regular knots rather than wrapping the laces around? Where are you damn flyboys getting these ideas from?!? We need another uniform jihad to rid our ranks of the regulation infidels!

  7. Lights were turned off years ago. Everyone has been using their tactical zipper flashlight to see 6" in front of them.

  8. I'm not defending him, but who in the hell do they think they are jumping the counter in the first place. They deserved to get the shit beat out of them man or woman. Sure, drunkeness has been known to inhibit judgement, but they have no f*cking respect at all (I'm assuming they were drunk). My $20s get checked with those markers all the time and I don't get offended or feel I want to fight someone over it. That is what we call Generation "ME." They'll probably sue and get money even though they were in the wrong...I guess when customers jump the counter, you have to actually wait for them to injure you before you can defend yourself. The way I look at it, if they have already jumped the counter, they have entered the ass beating zone....

  10. Man, those Iranians are really starting some sh*t these days...I mean the Saudi Ambassador is totally understandable, but trying to take down BO.net, now that's provocative!

  11. ...not sure a big airplane or a remotely-piloted one is the right fit for this mission with today's technology. Big is definitely not required and remote is probably the future of many things but it'll take a while to overcome the limitations of the systems for effective use in CAS beyond popping off a hellfire or dropping a LGB. There are plenty of advantages of having a low cost and small MX footprint, especially if you parlay that into more platforms for the money vs the all your eggs in one basket approach.

  12. ProSuper makes some good points. Why would you want to buy 100 over-sized bug smashers with a single engine..a propeller..marginal armour...possibly air re-fuelable (with a C-130?)...slow if not impossible to deploy any distance. No doubt the same amount of maintenance effort for a fraction of the strike power. Might as well have a helicopter gun ship. Buy something big with lots of room for bombs..bullets..armour..gas AND packed with all of the drone electronics needed for tactics and doctrine as it develops. Ideally you could deploy a whole flight remotely. Once the pilot hops in the "backseater" might be anywhere. (hey..It's the future..I don't like it either) ................Lieutenant, that perfume is enchanting...now go fetch my flak jacket......
