  1. I do a drive-by of the site, I see this thread is fresh, and click in, thinking I'm going to be seeing an obituary: Combat Cremation. Well, a guy can dream, can't he?

  2. Yeah, "Pacific Pivot"...timing is perfect. I'm not worried...we have this all under control. Really, the world is becoming a better place and we will do less with less. For reals this time... Think about it...other than hot women, what does Ukraine really have for us. Ok, hot women are enough of a reason...pack your bags boys, we're going to Kiev!!

  3. Did you Gucci guys have a POC at Breitling you used to get a custom order started? I'd like to email them and find out if they have any C-130 designs. Edit to add: Cue the sundial jokes...

  4. Aaah, but there's the rub. To get sent to AWC you will undoubtedly need a Master's degree to make the cut.

  9. I wonder how he's going to take the Mustache March contest from the CSAF? He was harassing crews (especially Officers) at Manas years ago to shave off their staches and sideburns. Someone printed out Gen Olds photo and posted it around Ops. He used to get pissed and tear them down.

  10. The labs do not use the GS system, but rather something called "Lab Demo". The system allows AFRL to pay their specialized scientists and engineers like 14s/15s without the supervisory requirement. Even those in management use the Lab Demo system too. There are a scant few GS personnel here and there, but the lab is run by those in Lab Demo. While not perfect (or even easy), Lab Demo is lightyears ahead of the GS system in terms of holding personnel accountable and directly tying promotion, bonuses, etc to job performance.

  11. Rather than continue the pointless arguing about social media and young soldiers being stupid, I propose we encourage the Israeli equivalent: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/israel/10096047/Israeli-women-soldiers-reprimanded-for-posing-in-underwear.html Enjoy!

  13. Almost correct: 28 of the 32 remaining airframes were built in the 80's (the last being delivered in 1989). The other four were built in the 1968 build. In any case, it's irrelevant: - the airframes have 50,000 more hours of life on them. - the "stuff" that does the ISR mission is somewhat "modular"... i.e. there is a ton of "new stuff" on the jet, in the from of MULTI-INT "stuff". -- yes, it's true! The sensors on the U-2 are from the 21st century! Stop focusing on the airframe as the only piece of the equation!! Oh... and no need to do a bunch of flight testing and integration with said sensors: we've already proven they work on the U-2. Good luck with the RQ-4! And watch out for the icing.
