Deployed tactics guy. We're going to start using PPR's for certain airfields in theatre. The following question arose: do PPR's have an effective time? (i.e. +/- 1hr ETA). Looked through GP and other FLIP but can't find guidance. Back home, if ETA ever changed, we'd just give OPS at arrival station a heads up over the phone but keep the same PPR. This always worked so I never questioned it. Anyway, now it's an issue.

Logged on to the gov't computer here to check baseops...forgot to take the little "secure s" out of http when typing in baseops.net. Check out what it is: Alterego Baseops What's up with that? I didn't know that was possible. I thought it was a joke. Baseops, are you aware of this?

Hello to everyone from the sandbox. Just wanted to give a quick hello and apologize for my absence in posting lately. I don't know how this board can survive without my one sided and completely irrelevant and unhelpful posts! BTW - Did that Check Six dipshit ever get the message and stop posting? HD [ 21. I know that there has been a lot of discussion on this board already about the C-21 but I had a few more questions. Who can get a C-21 assignment? Is it pretty much just a first assignment or could you go from another heavy to the C-21? What about going from being a FAIP to the C-21? Thanks.

Hey wxpunk, Actually the story about "Kerry the Pizza Snatcher" is not bullshit at all, it comes straight out of the new book "Wreckless Disregard" it was written by a former light Colonel, Buzz Patterson, who flew 141's and later carried the nuclear football during the Clinton administration. He wrote another book called "Dereliction of Duty" I highly recommend these books to any military member who may consider voting Democrat and consequently voting themselves out of a job, or anybody who is looking to get really pissed off for that matter.

I am wondering what kinds of non flying jobs you reserve guys might have within your units that help support you (and your family) in addition to flight time. Or what jobs do you have outside of the units that allow you time to fly. Or do you find that you get enough flight time to not have to worry about a second job. In college I majored in International Studies. Basically that consists of politics, economics, history, literature, geography etc. Typically it was more of an analytical work. I would be given a country to study, then forcast how it would react politically, economically etc to the actions of neighboring countries and world events as a whole. Are t…

Out of curiousity.... Anybody know of anyone who switched from a reserve pilot slot to AD while in UPT (phase II)? Is it possible? Guppyguy

I'm new to the board. I plan on sticking around a lurking for a while and maybe posting a few things. From what I've seen so far this site has tons of useful info. To start things off I thought I'd try to get some of your advice on a few things. First of all, I'm 23 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M (3.5 GPA) and currently employed by Boeing in Long Beach, CA. I've always loved planes and I thought when I was hired to work on the C-17 it was my dream job and I was set for at least a couple of years. Well, after a year I think the pilot bug bit hard enough for me to respond. It's always been in the back of my mind but the combination of time…

does anyone know of any good active UPT journals on the web, right now. I used to read a few but with the hectic schedule of UPT they sort of dried up. Thanx.

I'm confident that in approximately 15 minutes this article will be in the inboxes of every resident of the free world and maybe even few people in France. Chris Thomas, Air Force Pilot: I would like to add my two cents about my John Kerry experience. During my career as an Air Force pilot, I spent two years flying a small twin engine prop plane around the Pacific from my base in Okinawa, Japan. On one trip we had to fly Senator Kerry, his congressional aide, and a Navy Captain (Vietnam, A-4 fighter pilot)who was also in Kerry's party to various locations in Vietnam and Cambodia as part of the MIA/POW talks. When I met him, he was wearing a sh…

Neville- I appreciate you sending me four emails. Baseops gave you his apology, now leave our forums alone. Be a man and just walk away. It is very poor form of you to threaten Baseops wil legel action. He's done nothing wrong and his website is on no way affiliated with the mighty US military. With that said, STOP EMAILING ME. Harassment suits are much easier to win than internet suits. HD [ 09. August 2004, 17:28: Message edited by: HercDriver24 ]

Well I am just starting college and I decided to do my research on becoming an Air Force officer early. After college, I plan to go to law school. After law school, I'll hopefully(God willing) get an OTS slot with a pilot/nav slot upon commissioning. I know it's possible to then do an intraservice transfer to a JAG position after 4 years of AD and before 10 years of AD. I talked to a few AF recruiters about it and they don't know anyone who has done it. Some didn't even know it was possible. Has anyone here done or plan to do such a thing? Any tips or hints in general? Also, being a pilot requires a 10 year commitment(after UPT) and being in JAG requi…

Hey all, I'm waiting to be assigned my UPT base and trying to get things in line. My family has a little Cessna 170, and I was wondering if AD members are ever allowed to land/hangar private planes on active bases. I talked to the Ops manager at Hurlburt and he said he had heard of it, can anyone confirm? I would imagine there is some loophole, but I don't have any stars to flex either. Something to do with the flying club on base? Thanks.

Hey y'all. I have a situation. I am in pilot training for a Guard heavy unit...and track select pretty soon. I have the opportunity to switch over to fighters, one unit is in the same state, another is in another state. I believe I would get hired by those two units to fly fighters, however, I have to have my unit agree to release me. How likely is this, and really, am I just going to end my career, and get released if I even try? I dont wanna piss anyone off too badly. Thanks alot for any insights. [ 02. You don't here much of FRED on this board so this might help someone who is in UPT.This was off on another forum. I got my C5 assignemnt to the west coast 2 years ago. It was my third choice after C-21 overseas and C-17 McChord. For the amount of bad press Freddy gets, it's actually a pretty good deal. For one you don't deploy. The infastructure required to keep Freddy flying and the fact that it has a huge range allows it to fly out of home station downrange and back in 2-3 days. No staying in tents, the per diem is great, and crews stay nice places (with the exception of Moron which sort of sucks). Also, Freddy tends to only break in non-crappy locations. The missi…

Well here I am a month from starting my journey to becoming a pilot. I'll be starting college and AFROTC. Of course, I've been pretty lazy this summer and I told myself I need to start exercising to get back into shape. I'm actually pretty busy (work 7 days a week, almost all day... family business) but I plan on working out in the morning. Just curious what all of you do to stay in shape? Just run and sit-ups and push ups? Or have you found it beneficial enough to get a membership at a local gym? I figured just running, sit ups, and push ups would do it but I'm no expert in exercising. I use to lift but I'm not in good 'ol high school anymore where it was free. …

Hey everyone, I need some help. I'm starting my PPL and I want to use my Dave Clark headset, but I need a Gen. Av. microphone (8 ohm I think) first. I also need a two-wire adapter, but those are pretty easy to find. The only place I've found so far had the mic's for like $140 plus shipping, but I figure there's got to be someplace cheaper. I checked on e-bay, but couldn't find any, and did google searches, but couldn't really find what I wanted. Anybody have any extra lying around or know where I can get one? Thanx!!

I don't know if there are any KC-10 guys/gals here, but I have a few questions about what I can expect once I get to my unit. I will be flying with the 76th ARS out of McGuire. I'm trying to find out how much flying/work (i.e. MONEY) I can expect. Not that it really matters, but I live in the deep south now, and I'm trying to figure out how much of my current lifestyle I need to do away with before I get there. Any insights about pay, BAH, TDY, etc. would be greatly appreciated!!

When the grunts in my office give me shit about the tiger-stripe BDUs (spit), I fire back with this... If anyone wants to **** with the Army....errrr....look more into this fine program, then go to https://www.goarmy.com/btg/index.htm and fill out the Operation Blue to Green Information Form. It does top out at O-3, so I am SOL. So are you, AirGuardian! Plus, they'd probably want me to cut my hair! Cheers! M2
