I’m 69”s tall so we’re a little different in size, but I’ve used both the regular IPad and the mini. Standard Ipad was good for not having to zoom in so much, but the size was cumbersome in a 152/172. Especially if you mounted it on a suction cup (could cover a 1/4 of a window) and that’s why I chose the mini. You do need to zoom in on the mini, but it’s been best for me when going from a 172, cub, baron, king air, t-38, etc. Bose does cost you an arm and a leg, but they’re worth it. Another option would be the light speed Sierra. Used them before and they were great.- GA Aircraft Flown

I second your comment on the tail wheel. Your hours/experience is far beyond where I’m at right now, but I feel that I learned more about stick and rudder skills when getting my tail wheel endorsement.- Flying Videos Thread Part 2?

🍺- Struggled in UPT?
Like @moosepileit said. Another thing that helped me is I would sit down with a white board and break things down by drawing out each step. This simplified things for me and I would then piece them together. CAP isn’t a bad thing as it lets you fly with the more experienced IPs. However, you don’t want stay there forever. Also, don’t be afraid to speak to your Flt/CC if you’re not meshing with an IP and you learn more from another. I was on CAP in 38s and learned a lot from my designated IPS.- Finance Problems
I'm a reserve student on TDY for IFF and trying to get some information about receiving full per diem. Received my first payment and I didn't receive full per diem after providing an MFR; Shocking.... So, I completed the missed meals form 2282 in order to get full per diem, but I was just informed not to list the weekend dates? From what I could find, the JTR indicates per diem is a daily rate, so I should receive full per diem (once approved) for all days correct? Thread bump. Now in UPT and looking to see if anyone is selling their mess dress. 5’9” and 175lbs. 38-40 regular jacket, 32” waist, and 15-15.5” neck. Thanks.- WTF? (**NSFW**)

Only bring up places you’ve interviewed before if asked in an interview. Then you can explain that you’ve been learning from each one and working on bettering yourself.- Reserve UPT Unsponsored to Active Duty?
Yes you can. However, from what I read about 2 years back was that if you decline a position you can’t reapply and accept the same position you declined.- Reserve UPT Unsponsored to Active Duty?
👆 what @Hawg15 said. I’m extremely happy with staying Reserves and glad I didn’t go through with the switch; wouldn’t want it any other way.- Reserve UPT Unsponsored to Active Duty?
2 of us showed up to UPT as unsponsored and looked at switching to Active. AFPC said there was a process currently being developed (October 2019) to allow this. AFI 36-2005 ch 6 explains that you can transfer from different branches. If age isn’t a factor and your open to flying to anything, you can decline the CSO position and reapply for the active board. Not sure how many times you can decline or how long you have to wait to reapply.- Luke AFB Information
Family and I will be moving to Luke in August for F-16 B course and we’re need of some information on the local area; housing, things to do/not do, etc. Big thing is trying to figure out if we should do base housing or rent else where. Thanks in advanced.- Confused About The Hiring Process: Getting Hired By a Unit Rushing Vs Recruiters
I can speak about the unsponsored/FAIP situation as I was selected to be a FAIP, but found a unit at the same time. Going unsponsored is a great thing if you want to fly heavies and not concerned about location; you can always transfer units after 3 years. The FAIP portion is primarily for T-6s as an unsponsored person automatically tracks T-1s. However, there are times where they need T-38 FAIPs. Simply put, the reserves need to provide instructors and you need to voice early on that you want to do it so the ball can get rolling. What will happen is you be an instructor for the reserve unit at your UPT base and will do that for 3-4 years active. In the last year of the full time orders you will begin rushing units and the liaison officer will help you find a home.- Vance twitter posting 2 killed in T-38 mishap
