March 16, 201510 yr ENJJPT 15-04: curious- are vipers bottom of the choice of fighters for students these days?
March 16, 201510 yr I think it's about 50/50 between A/A and A/G and a good mix of strikes/vipers. This class literally dropped 12 AD Vipers though. 1 Raptor, 2 X C-130 and German Tornadoes/EF-2000.
March 16, 201510 yr What I saw the past few years was that the Raptor was the clear winner for top choice. After that mostly an even split between Mudhen and Viper. The occasional stud wanted a Hog or Eagle. It appears the writing is on the wall for those platforms. If/when that changes I bet they would become more popular again.

April 2, 201510 yr The trouble is supposedly with a shortage of IFF slots, not UPT. But we still have intls going through our IFF.
April 2, 201510 yr You know, of course, international iff slots will be higher priority than domestic ..... Right up until about 6 months after stop loss starts
April 3, 201510 yr From what I've been told it's basically been a matter of a general shortage of fighter pilot instructors in the training squadrons overall. Both in IFF and the B courses. Not to mention the D model viper set back with the longerons.
