  1. This is why we get laughed at. Our mission statement shouldn't be "fly, fight and win" or whatever it is TODAY, it should be "quibble over queep til you puke then quibble some more!" Quit bitching about pt tests and who's fat and why you don't think they look good in uniform. Get back to the fuc&ing topic!
  2. "I've also heard ideas kicked around regarding the J and slowing down. It's been years, but I think there was some ability to reschedule the props so that FLT Idle could be a slight negative HP. It's all about the $. If the users want it and will pay, LH will do " This system is called "steep descent mode". Used it on the C-27J, we could do a spiral-down from 10,000ft, one turn to a full stop landing.
  3. Yes, the 103rd along with the 179th at Mansfield are getting H2s. Two of the 6 C-27J bases are keeping a tac airlift mission. Meridian is going back to the 135, the 135th AS MDANG is deactivating, the NDAK ANG is still up in the air along with Battle Creek and Great Falls.
  4. From what I heard they're older H2s than the ones they lost pre-C27J. The CT ANG is also expecting Herks I believe.
  5. Best post of this whole thread.
  6. SHACK. Who the f@#k cares? From a J-Model guy.
  7. Where is this info? Plans on increasing the PAA @ ILG?
  8. All I see is an article written by someone who feels he deserves more prestige for his job. Sorry you got non-vol'd or didn't do well in UPT, whatever. Get over it, move on. Being a pilot, manned or unmanned has its perks and suck ass moments, like not getting her heels up for 4 months, or missing birthdays or having 24/7 shifts at our job. We are on the same team, we all made the decision to raise our hand. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. After all, this is 'MERICA DAMNIT!
  9. Goddayum! Shits gettin real up in this mutha######a. Way to go Erilejr, pissin people off! (it's a joke dude, don't get mad) for what it's worth, people don't take the time to tell you that when your getting your nuts stomped at upt. Better thicken that hide if this is the life you want. My two cents. I'm out!
  10. After reading the article and listening to his speech one can only hope he is chosen.
  11. Wait. The ambiguously gay duo had a hang glider?
  12. Robins AFB, GA. In an Army building...surprise surprise....run by L-3. Place has been a non stop rumor mill for two months.
  13. I'll admit this is a fun airplane to fly and I'm not even through basic qual yet. However, the writing has been on the wall format long time. This divestiture is going to happen a lot sooner than we think. I just don't see the airplane surviving, even if people get caught lying with their pants down.
  14. Exactly my point. The Guard is losing two airlift squadrons that are already stood up and operational (MD and OH), yet they're going to have to pay to convert two fighter squadrons (MT and CA) one of which will change missions altogether. The financial waste in the name of cost cutting is amazing.
  15. Does anyone know what the hell an ISR group and Network Warfare Squadron do? On a side note, anybody out there have room for a rated Lt?
  16. I'm appalled and outraged at the treatment of my fallen brothers and sisters in arms. Something in this country has to change, we need new leaders not just getting rid of Schwartz and the cronies at the top, but also in the Congress, the Senate, the whole place. When this happens to our men and women in uniform and the country isnt outraged because their too busy watching some bulls**t reality show we've hit a new low. I am ashamed as an American servicemember and citizen that this has happened.
  17. If you look closely you'll see the rear end of a C-27J with 130J engines, a CASA type fuselage and the A350 nose.
  18. We got BRAC'd in 2005. They didn't take our last C-130J until September of this year. We've got 3 C-27Js on the ramp right now and a fourth one on the way. There's currently a successful deployment of the aircraft in theater with an upcoming deployment for our unit in the spring. From the guys in the desert we're being told that the Army is happy with what we're doing for them and they support us. We continue to train for the fight. I believe this thing is far from over.
  19. I got out of IFS after 3 1/2 weeks. 1 week academics, and 2 1/2 in the airplane. It is definitely a good program, and I'm glad I got the experience there rather than going straight to UPT. I have no PPL, but I have flying time, and the biggest thing I had to work on was breaking bad habits, go into with a clear head, accept the fact that you know nothing and learn from your buds and the IPs, they were all top-notch as far as I'm concerned. I was not proficiency advanced, but they double turned me as often as they could! Great time there, I can't wait to get into something with 10 times the power of the DA-20 though.
  20. I wasn't at drill this weekend, (135 Airlift, MDANG) but last drill, October I got to read over the proposal for the FTU at KMTN. Hope we get it. Honestly I'm looking forward to flying the airplane, I don't care if most tac airlift in theater starts on a 10000' runway, I'm just glad we're keeping a flying mission.
  21. What a distinguished career this soldier had. This is for you, To fallen soldiers let us sing, Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing, Our broken brothers let us bring To the Mansions of the Lord No more weeping, No more fight, No friends bleeding through the night, Just Devine embrace, Eternal light, In the Mansions of the Lord Where no mothers cry And no children weep, We shall stand and guard Though the angels sleep, Oh, through the ages let us keep The Mansions of the Lord To you Oz,
  22. You get a Secret Clearance and a promotion to E-5 for AMS. I've got picked up in April, got my paperwork to NGB 3ish wks ago, anxiously waiting and praying to the gods above for a class date in January. Got my Secret Clearance waiting for BMT to become a Load. That was one jump I got out of the way early. Incidentally, I enlisted to be a Load over a year ago now, never got to BMT due to selection for UPT, and have not done anything for that except show up for UTAs. I am however one year closer to my 20-30 that I hope this career will be!
  23. I can only speak for myself, but I have not been to Brooks and was told that when we get our dates we get all of them in one slug, so Brooks - AMS - IFS - UPT. Add in ASBC if there is too much of a Break in Training.
