A little surprised Nickelback didn't make the list. I guess their songs aren't even good enough for that.

I came to the same conclusion today while trying to find a few bricks of my favorite caliber. I can't find it now, but a recent article said that since there are twice as many 22's as all other calibers combined, they account for the majority of shootings. While the article was obviously discussing gun control, the pertinent point is the sheer preponderance of 22lr firearms in the hands of general society. I've always just bought a 500 round brick when I need it for more practice (around 100 left) but never stocked up. This shortage for a simple scare has also proved to me the importance of stocking up on that basic caliber. With the popularity of the round, in a true emergency, 22 ammunition would have great widespread appeal with regard to bartering/currency value. Obviously, such value would be in addition to its true utility.

I don't see what the big deal is. Speaker Boehner should feel that she is affording him the greatest amount of reverence and respect in her own way. That's the same look she gave after making comments to her husband at the Sep 11, 2011 memorial service during the flag ceremony.

Well, who'd have thought that 22 would be the first to go. I just checked every Walmart, Sportsmans Warehouse, and BX within 20 miles of my house and there's nothing. At each store, they all said that whenever they get any 22 in, people are buying it by the case. Crazy. ETA: 9mm is also completely unavailable.

Funny when the extreme liberal media persecutes the military for failing to live up to conservative values. Hypocrite much?

Welcome to the forums. Although I know it can be fun to start new threads, as you've no doubt discovered by starting two different ABM threads in the last day, the usual convention it to work within the existing construct wherever possible. Often the acronym UTFSF is used to help remind folks to read the ROE and execute accordingly. Here's a link to seven pages of ABM info that you might find useful. By replying to that thread with your questions, you will find that people with similar interests will be more likely to answer. Good luck!

Why do comm guys and S&M guys get wings?

It's been a few years, but I've run the numbers before to help out a retiring friend. I won't go through the entire background, but I'm not a fan of SBP due to the many sunk costs with minimal gains. If you're retiring in your 40's, the following plan works pretty well. I recommend taking the same dollars that would go to that 6.5% and putting part of them into a good 20 year term life policy. Take the remainder and invest it according to your preferred strategy. If you die in the next 20, the SPB income your spouse would have received is replaced by the insurance, with possibly more. If you die after the term expires, you have specific investments to support her living in a similar way. By that time, with conservative figures, there should be enough invested to exceed SBP benefits if paid out through an annuity. When I ran the numbers, it came out to 20-40% above SBP benefits in almost all cases where you die before her. Obviously if she dies before you, it's worth 100% more since you would otherwise get nothing. Caveats: there's more risk in my plan, and I personally have not retired yet. Edit: Subject-verb agreement.

I'm betting Sam's Club. It must be a standard setup, cause that's how it is here.

Simple high-contrast chromatic aberration. You can see the same thing on the top edge of the U2 wing where it meets the bright concrete. Either it was a relatively cheap camera or the photographer used the wrong (or no) filter.

No, many of those photos are unprofessional due to the depiction of implements of violence that could be used to discriminate against terrorists.

DG from commissioning source goes on your RIP. It only holds as much weight as the person reading your RIP gives it.

From the article. Perhaps if we had ranges with supplied rifles/ammo on military bases where I could practice at will, I wouldn't want to have a "home version" of an M4 to practice with. 90 rounds once every 3-5 years is insufficient preparation should you ever actually need it downrange. Perhaps everyone won't need it someday, but I for one like to be prepared.

I knew there was a reason I blocked out my memories from three years ago. Funny how rapid your recall was of this event though.

This may be the worst WTF this thread has seen. A Canadian Air Force pilot and wing commander has been convicted for the murder of two women, sexual assault, and multiple counts of burglary. What did he steal? Almost 50 pairs of women's panties from their homes to satisfy his lingerie fetish. Once in jail, he also tried to commit suicide by swallowing a roll of toilet paper. Here's a link to the news article, but I cannot in good faith recommend clicking on it as the photos are NSFW in (almost) the worst way. If you do, be ready to spend a few hours washing your eyes.

Good jobs to enlist in if you want to become an Air Force pilot some day: 1. Any aircrew. 2. ATC 3. Crew Chief 4. Maintenance . . . 497. Open General 498. Security Forces 499. Army Infantry A little tongue in cheek humor, but not too far off from the truth. Based on experience and observation, I personally don't think your stated goals match the expected outcome of your choice. My own path to becoming a pilot was not too far off from the one you're about to take, but I worked very hard and got extremely lucky. So, all I can say is good luck.

If you take time to aim, you can use half as many rounds, and then it becomes cost neutral. In all seriousness though, I'm used to around .50-.55 per round for .223. Although it's good to have availability even with a 40% price increase, now might be the time to start reloading.
-
Prices are up a little, but most of the local gun shops have .223 for around $.70 per round. Not great but not bad. 9mm here is still available and in the $.25 range for target stuff.

Nice, the corrupt local law enforcement recognized that they had illegally detained somebody so they used the trumped up charges as blackmail to protect themselves. -
Spot on. Bad math on my part, and I'm sure my mistake was pretty obvious. Agreed that it is a 47% increase back up to previous rates. Still not a fan of donating over $300 per month to a sunk cost.
