Air Force awards contract for new helicopters to guard nukes MH-139
That'll be good as you have both the HH-60 and the UH-1 both transitioning to a new aircraft.

Having the bid be awarded almost $2 billion below the AFs estimated cost probably had something to do with it. Additionally you know the AF, they would have required a full transition syllabus for the W to U incurring a 3-year ADSC rather than a differences training.

The only caveat now with the A2CU is that it "technically" can't be worn to off-base leisure stops like the bag or OCPs can. I don't think anybody will care.

They're all going to SOCOM where they will tell ODA that they need to stay in a 6 man team to be mission effective.

The HH-60W is not as frankensteined yet it's still going to be running into max-GW issues. Just tell GA that there are only two seats for them so they only get a 2-man team /sarc

From their promotional aircraft had the AAR-47s and two do-all flare buckets already installed. There is a high likelihood of moving to a .50 cal or a minigun with external ammunition handling. The pintle posts are already in the "prototype" promotional bird. FLIRs nowadays are pretty light and the Italians have already proven a lot of the avionics integration with their HH-139 Here is their promotional "prototype" at the Heli-Expo Again a lot of the integration work has seemingly already been done.

Lakota doesn't have the speed, endurance, or payload required. Requirement was to carry 9 troops for 3.0 hours with X speed. The Lakota doesn't even perform the FLAT IRON mission at Rucker well (it can't pick up a TH-1 crew in one lift), much less then COOP/COG/Nuke mission.

Only the UH-1Ns. AFGSC is getting the first ones but eventually all of them will be replaced. Yokota is still up in the air last report I saw.

AF Light Air Support Aircraft
When the 6 SOS had the RW-FID mission they contracted out their 412 flights to get their pilots qualified on them. Countries like Thailand and Indonesia use Bell 412s, which were some of the JCET customers.

Promotion and PRF Information
So I was briefed on an interesting tidbit regarding the 09 Majors board today. Apparently there is a new (~5 Jul 18) congressional report that is required to be run by the services IG concerning officer eligibility for promotion. This system was already in place for O-6+, however not for the lower ranks. Anybody that is up for promotion that has had a "public" negative indicator will be reviewed at a later time as was mentioned earlier. The main driver for this may have been some Missileers that were involved in the Malmstrom cheating scandal in 2014. Although their LORs were removed from their UIF in the intervening years, their records are being further scrutinized since they were involved in a very public scandal. Hopefully the process will be further vetted for the later year groups (10-11) that were also heavily involved. This new scrutiny caught many O-6 off guard as well.

Flat Rate Per Deim - Gone
At least at Kirtland it was actually cheaper to refuse gov't lodging and get the $60/day + proportional per diem than it is to get a non-a and get 50%. Also if their orders were extended from <180 days to >180 days then the reduction in per diem should only apply from the order ammendment date, not the entire TDY.

Seattle airliner stolen and crashed
It wasn't hijacked, it was stolen. It's a closer comparison to the NORDO C150 than 9/11.

Army Rotary Wing to AF Rotary Wing
No, just AD. Other that the schoolhouse at Kirtland I don't know of any AFRES/ANG other than HH-60s.

Not anymore. Word on the street is that even the missileers are transitioning to OCPs.
