I Hate Reflective Belts
It was the stink of "I know how it is now" that clued me in.

I Hate Reflective Belts
So I was scouring AF Times for whatever FourFans is hyping and got to looking at the FlightLines blog that originaly profiled IHRB. In the comments at the bottom: Doc Says: November 6th, 2009 at 10:40 am I am not downplaying any effort you or anyone has made toward the MISSION, however, I will match your Herk rides and 18-20 days anytime you wish and multiply it times my 33+ years time in service, 26 of it on the flight line. Kosovo, DSI and DSII. I know how it was and I know how it is now. Seems to be matching up to THAT GUY. Very interesting.

C-27J Spartan Training Info
Threadjack squared! What's the latest and greatest word on Direct Support? I heard something about it at Scott a couple of months ago and wondered if it was just a fart in the wind. Is is going to be confined to the -27Js for the near future?

Gun Talk
Aaaaand....done. 500 rounds of Winchester white box for a few bucks cheaper than the Russian poly-coated steel stuff I ordered from Cabela's. I didn't get a free dry box out of the deal like Cabela's, but didn't really need it anyway. Cabela's strategy of putting stores in every state is biting them in the ass with mail-order taxes. As for Bass Pro - they're a shell game. They say it's available, but I checked the "do not backorder" box. Then after I finished my order, I got an email saying that they were out of supply and my order was cancelled. You, sir, have too much money. What's that thing tribbing with the scope? Night vision device?

Gun Talk
Now if you could only carry it on the bird. Bought a Sig P238 from a local chain for ~470 out the door. Waiting for my shipment of .380 to show up from Cabelas. Actually found a better deal today from Bass Pro for Remington FMJs using their $20 off $100 website. I'm not excited about carrying a cocked, safetied SAO, but an accidental discharge would require two mistakes vs. one large mistake on a non-safety DAO. Any experience around here with Kahr products, particularly P380s?

2009 Fort Hood Shooting
1st irony of this event: He's a shrink that went nuts. I wasn't too surprised. 2nd irony: His shooting spree probably wouldn't have lasted more than 30 seconds if it had happened off-post. I'm not sure why the armed forces spend so much money on fences and security personnel and then decide that the people they let in (carry permit or not) aren't qualified to carry a weapon.

2009 Fort Hood Shooting
Read that a cleric at his mosque in the DC area reported that listed himself as US born with Palestinian nationality on a mosque "dating service" form Also, he purportedly entered service prior to 9/11. I read he was enlisted for eight years.

Audiohavoc- Good on ya for coming here to ask, but because we can't verify how innocent your intentions are, we can't help you. Chances are you can find what you need if you keep looking. Good luck.

- Soldier died after being given smoker's lungs in transplant
It's refreshing to see that his family has their wits about them and are not blaming everybody in sight. A set of smoker's lungs is better than none at all.- Gun Talk

2. I'm dumbfounded by People and other forms of Hollywood-worship.- China urges U.S. to halt surveillance near its shores
Riiiiiight. We'll get right on that, guys. Maybe they're watching the al-Qaida successfully manipulate the media and want to try their hand at it. How many people in the general population are surprised by this and think we should stop?- Bacon Explosion!
Get a Big Green Egg. Load it up and watch it roll an even 225 for four hours without fiddling. As an upside, it's so well insulated that it takes very little fire to keep this temp, which means less airflow and more moisture in the meat. Expensive, but a definite time-saver.- John Stossel's Take on the Free Market
2! When was the last time you saw the government excel at managing anything?- Pope wing commander removed from duty
So he's got Master Nav wings in the pic back at Salem in '95. And his bio says more than 2200 hrs. According to wikipedia, it's not adding up. Must've kept his currency at all those staff jobs.- First an AT-6...
All those old planes are proven....but they're old. You could pull 'em out of the boneyard, but if I was doing 60 driver's job, I'd like to have a new piece of iron to fly in. Air Tractors have been around a while...- Biden reveals VP bunker location
Oops. That's not going to be expensive to fix, now is it?- Dyess (Abilene) info
You're going to hear that ad nauseum from the locals when they hear you and your wife just moved in. Three questions you always get: 1. Are you married? 2. Do you have kids? 3. Have you found a church-home yet? Abilene is truly the buckle of the bible belt. Three christian schools and maybe more churches per area than Montgomery. If you're ready for the opposite of Nippon, you're looking at it. People can find quiet places out in the country with a few acres and a short commute for very decent money. Go to Biketown and get access to the Buck Creek trails. That's about the one outdoor thing we've found to do here. Some guys keep wakeboard boats for Lake Ft. Phantom, but you have to be on the ball to catch a windless day. There is one indoor gun range/shop and two outdoor ones, one of which has a sporting clays course. Haven't been to any of the shooting places, as I can do all that on my own land.- Jihad Recollections
How about all of us that just flipped through it on the internet version of the newsstand? I'd put fair odds that IP addresses going through there might be getting logged. Free speech and press are something I still hold very dear. Thoughts don't infringe on other peoples freedom - actions do. These folks may be walking the line on "shouting fire in a theater", but they're still not conducting terrorism. On a side note - I took a quick scan - the articles on EMPs and NVGs were disturbing, but I really shouldn't be surprised about the NVGs. That was just a matter of time and technology proliferation.- Headset questions
Bump - Just ordered an ANR kit from Headsets, Inc. for my DC 10-76s. About $195 shipped. Any previous users out there? I notice they also offer kits for helmets, which is where I really would like some ANR. Might have to do that next if this checks out.- Altus AFB info
If anybody's trying to avoid another dinner at Chili's - head north to Blair (8-9 mi) for the Backdoor Steakhouse. My inlaws happen to live in the area and took us there for dinner about a year ago. Pretty popular on a weekend night. On a side note - drove through there today...and spotted "Executive Massage" on the west edge of town. Real Nice trailerhouse behind an eight-foot sheetmetal privacy fence. Bottom of the sign, in quotes, "Come Again!" - Soldier died after being given smoker's lungs in transplant
