  1. What we really need is a legitimate push for a Convention of States to help reign in the out of control federal government. If we can pass amendments to limit executive overreach, decrease excessive bureaucracy, limit the out of control spending, and limit the Supreme Court's impact back into what the framers intended, then it won't matter who is elected President in the future. Executive power has been expanded so far beyond what the Constitution intended that our government is now dysfunctional. I'm looking forward to putting Constitutional mechanisms in place so that it won't matter which lying jackass is elected by our uninformed populace. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I love the ideas going around to get lower cost weapons systems into the arsenal, but damn that has the be one of the ugliest planes ever. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. As has been discussed here before, $35k/yr just corrects the bonus for inflation. It does nothing to help correct the additional ass pain that active duty has become since the original $25k/yr bonus. It doesn't move the needle for me one bit, but rather makes me more likely to find the quickest way off active duty as I come to the end of my UPT commitment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Down $3 for O-3 in Vegas and O-4 dropped $18. I'll barely make enough BAH to cover my rent AFTER I get promoted. Ridiculous Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. That's right, I think the board concluded March 10 or something. Have guys pinned on that fast at anytime in the past, or is this unprecedented because of dudes leaving? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. So the next board finishes in early April, that means those guys could start pinning on within a month or two of being notified of promotion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. That's the best thing I've seen in a while. I didn't even support the guy, but I'd love to have a poster of that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The version of AFI 36-2107 on e-publishing is from April of 2012. It still has note 1b that says AFT commitments won't extend beyond 10 years rated service. If anyone else has seen anything in writing that is newer, please share it. http://static.e-publishing.af.mil/production/1/af_a1/publication/afi36-2107/afi36-2107.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Which reg did you cite? The note in the ADSC reg that says "No advanced flying training will extend your commitment beyond 10 years of rated service"? That's the one I would use even for a PIT commitment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Everyone says that, except the C-17v1 and the course info on the ETCA site for AC & IP re-qual say otherwise. Anything other than a local requal incurs a 36 month ADSC. Maybe they don't enforce it, who knows, but I won't take my chances. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. If they wait too long, I'll 7 day opt to avoid the additional 3 year ADSC for flying training. I'm not sure I even want that commitment even if it means returning to fly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. You were told at the beginning of this VML that you were on the list? Just wondering what your previous airframe was and if you would please keep us updated when you get your assignment match. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. "ihatemyjob1" - ha ha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Not true. Those of us holding fast to the hope of returning to a manned aircraft still have hope. At the beginning of each VML, the RPA assignments guy creates a "Return to Fly" list of the highest time on station RPA Alphas. On the current VML it was about 20 guys. He then gives that list to the MAF assignments people to figure out what to do with them. During their last AFPC roadshow at Creech, he was very clear that unless an Alpha tour pilot re-cats or volunteers for a 2nd RPA assignment, we cannot be given an RPA follow on. I believe the bleeding is getting worse on the manned side, and since RPA 18xers are much easier/cheaper to generate, the odds are getting better for a manned aircraft return. 15. I think the main push back is that this just generates more queep to distract from the mission. More recognition is a great thing, but we can always count on Big Blue to fail in the execution. This will mean taskers and deadlines to front line supervisors filling out yet more 1206's when they could be focusing on the mission and tactics. Instead they will be worried about finding the right acronym from the latest wing admin guide that is the correct number of characters for the bullet. This is why good people continue to run for the door. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. This is what I figured. Recently it has been about 6 months from board completion to first pin on. The list on MyPers that I looked at yesterday had 1903 selects, so I figured about 212 per month to finish in September in time for the March '07 board to begin pinning in October. 18. Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to escape RPA purgatory soon and weighing my options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I almost hate to recycle this thread since it was started by Scoobs, but is there anyone still in the C-17 community that can give an idea of what the current ops tempo is like? I'm interested in any and all info I can get from a variety of bases. I've been out since 2012 and I've heard it's much slower. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I just find it funny how nobody knows his background but he's always asking questions about deployment cycles and other operational stuff. STFU unless you're going to contribute. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Who is this guy, and why is he still posting here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I guess I was referring more to the early sign ups. If you were coming up on the end of your commitment in FY17, would you sign up early for $25k/yr when there is all this talk about the amount increasing? What would be even more fantastic is if they wait until March and release a modest increase to $35k (which just corrects for inflation). I don't think that will move next year's numbers much higher than what we saw this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I just completed mine at Downtown in the Duchess back in June. PM me and I'll send you the gouge if that's what you're flying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Sounds like par for the course for the Air Force. Especially during a "pilot retention crisis." I've said it before, what a bloated and slow moving bureaucracy we've become. I realize a lot is controlled by Congress, but maybe they should learn to lead turn a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. So that means there won't be a bonus program for 6 months or the old one stays in effect? Rumors of higher payouts have to be depressing sign up numbers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
