C2 Question - SOFs and Command Post
Oh, and there is no such thing as a FAIP in Herk world, so there goes that excuse for a SOF. And no snappy 1Lts out there teaching AP skillz, so there goes that reason for a SOF. If WX gets bad, we can shoot any ILS down to mins, so there goes the WX excuse for a SOF. So the blanket rule that AETC units must have a SOF is silly. Caesar may now ban me. Out

C2 Question - SOFs and Command Post
MX gets bashed over the head via metrics that some pencil neck back office weenie manipulates. When various percentages look red, Sr MX get all spun up. So there is high incentive to fudge and cheat to their advantage. The Ops side fighting MX over delays and cancels is just us fighting back against that stupid mentality and/or let MX try to walk all over Ops. When the worker bee level cooperates and takes action to get the mish done, it had better be in accordance with the MX rules. Example, "hey chief, this gage is out." If it gets swapped out with one from the truck without the chief/crew doing a write-up and big supervision finds out, get ready for a nut pounding. I swear that some of the crap that staff-level A4 pushes down leads me to believe that they've gone full ape shit retard. SOF. Ours don't really do much. Every AETC plane is full of instructors and thus rarely insert themselves into EPs. The DOs handle any Ops/MX issues with lates/aborts/cancels. Out

Hagel: Troops' workplaces will be checked for 'degrading' images of women
I think Mr Hagel needs to ask Hollywood and the entertainment industry to stop what they are doing. He should then visit the household of each kid that might potentially enter the military and take away their mags/posters/DVDs of Transformers/Porkys I, II, & III/cable TV and the internet. That should take care of the issue. Meanwhile, I'm offended that I they think that I can't control myself and that a picture of a bikini lady will turn me into a monster the moment I see it. I guess I can't go to the beach anymore. What's next, thought police?! Out

National Air Cargo 747 Crash at Bagram
While my experience of runaway trim has been simulator only, they were noticed, counter-acted, and controllable. That video and description of the crash really fits sudden CG shift to the tail, such as a heavy rolling vehicle breaking loose when the plane rotates a solid 10 degrees nose up for take off, then probably increasing to 15 degrees once airborne. Sudden CG shift is something that we don't practice in the sim. Capt Sully made a remarkable landing in the river and I believe he was able to do so because he thought about it and perhaps even practiced it in the sim. While cargo breaking free on takeoff doesn't happen often, this accident higlights that danger and if we try to practice recognizing it and recovering from it, we might have a fighting chance. I really hope the company is able to recover the FDR and CVR and can show us what the plane was doing and what the crew tried to do to recover. My next trip to the sim will include a shift in CG if they can set it up. Out

Diversity AFI
Sorry pal, I don't work recruiting stations and I'm not likely to sit on O-4/5/6 promotion boards, so I don't have a say in selecting who gets into the AF or pick for promotion (directly). I do however get to pick people to do things and take charge of things and so on, and I don't consult a diversity decision tree to do so. Therefore, I don't care. And I hold no illusion that a post on BO.net will make the change you seek. Therefore, again, I don't care. Now if you're so emotional over this topic, write a letter. Or submit a suggestion to the AF Saves website as a way to save money. Out

Diversity AFI
Who the fuck cares about all this???? I mean do any of you really really care about any of this noise??? So what if a shoe made an AFI. So what if another shoe made a website. I ain't gonna waste my time on it. So to the thead starter (I don't care to scroll to find your name), go troll elsewhere. I don't care about diversity. I care about getting the job done with the most capable people and that is how I go about my job. Out

Not going to UPT...will I get kicked out?
There was a guy douche at UPT that intentionally failed 3 of the life support tests. He didn't want to be a pilot and someone (ROTC Det) told him it was better to wash out than to decline a pilot slot. Once his classmates found out his gameplan, he went from UPT bud to douche in 0.69 secs. I don't remember what happened to him and nobody cared about him after his stunt. What a waste of money, effort, and a perfectly good pilot slot. Out

Gen Welsh - USAF Chief of Staff
Funny, I've never thought of the AF as a gigantic floating ship in the middle of the ocean run by a Navy Capt. So, I will disagree with the notion that the man in charge cannot make large, impacting changes just because someone thinks its too big. In case you missed it, thats my bullshit flag flying through the air. Its this kind of stunted thought that keeps us staggering along. All I hear these days is blah blah bold leadership blah blah blah. Its time for those at the top to make actions match the words. As Blues Monday and its redaction point out, its not too hard to make impactful changes. Here is one simple example, AADs are now masked for all boards until LTC. Easily said and not too hard to implement as its been done before. Here is another: no more entertainment groups and only 1 AF band. Easily said, not too hard to implement, saves some money, and puts more people into working the core AF mission. So, here is me, still waiting for something more. Out

Eliminating AF Waste (Fraud/Abuse too)
From your e-mail inboxes this AM Fellow Airmen, I need your help. Throughout my Air Force career I’ve learned that when times get tough, Airmen consistently figure out a way to "get it done." Today, complex security and fiscal challenges reemphasize the need to capture and implement your innovative ideas for the Air Force and for the Nation. I want to hear from you and I encourage your participation in a 30 day "Airmen Powered by Innovation" call for ideas on how we can cut costs and better fly, fight and win. There are two options for you to participate in this effort. During the month of May, you can provide your ideas using the Air Force Portal or the Air Force's public website (links below). 1. The Air Force Portal link provides for submission of ideas and/or an interactive discussion forum: https://www.my.af.mil 2. The Air Force Public Site is set up for access via your mobile device or home computers: https://www.af.mil The future of our Air Force starts with you. Providing global reach, vigilance and power requires all of us working together as an unbeatable team. As we face fiscal challenges, we must make prudent choices to ensure the Air Force is able to unleash the full potential of airpower. Each of us must find new ways to win the fight, strengthen the team, and shape the future. Every Airman, every day, can make a difference. Be that Airman and let me know your thoughts on how we can better fly, fight and win! LARRY O. SPENCER General, USAF Vice Chief of Staff Here is the video/interview: And here are my top three ideas, which I will post 1 May. In no particular order: 1. Eliminate all AF entertainment groups, except for one AF level band. 2. Eliminate the need for Masters degrees for officers until Lt Col, thus saving money under Tuition Assistance. Those that want to use TA for personal betterment will still do so, but making the Masters requirement go away will reduce the diploma mill use of TA. 3. Lobby Congress to change the way we have to spend our O&M money. If AF saves some of it, we get to roll it over. Edit: Oh, and I'd love for the Af to post the results of what happened the last time this effort was launched (a few years ago, I think). Out

Boss: why did you not follow the AFI? AC: I was just following the Commander's Intent. He says to not follow dumb AFIs. Boss: You are dumb because you are not in a position to judge AFIs. That is my job. Now go sit in the corner. Out

Gun Talk
If a company can show its super serious, I mean really really serious that it will move if the state they reside in passes more dumb laws, then perhaps that state may not pass that dumb law. If not passed, then sales stay static. If passed and they start the efforts to move and start showing economic impact to that state, maybe the dummies get voted out and the dumb law gets repealled, thus restoring sales. But companies cannot bluff in this game of gun control chicken. Out

Gun Talk
I just stumbled across news (from a few weeks ago) that Beretta is considering leaving Maryland if they enact dumber gun laws. And I think that many of these companies will take the financial hit to move ops because on a business side, more dumb laws means less sales. https://www.foxnews.c...ugher-gun-laws/ Apologies is this was posted before. Buckle your seat belt
My door (on a Piper) popped open in flight and scared the livin' shit out of me. The incident didn't cause me to move out of my seat, nonetheless I was very thankful I had my seatbelt on. There has got to be more to this story. To come completely out of your seat, you probably need some good negative Gs, and I doubt turbies caused this. Perhaps more like some significant nose down trim and then let go of the yoke and enjoy the ride. Screw around with planes and bad shit will happen.

Inside Combat Rescue
Dear Producers of Inside Combat Rescue, Suggestions for next time if you decide to do it. 1. Stop reliving the previous 3 minutes after each commercial break. You never see this tactic in a normal TV show. We are educated enough to remember the last 5 minutes of our lives. 2. Shitcan the voice over, its not needed. If people need an explanation of a term or item, ask the experts doing the job to explain it. 3. Be careful of creating unnecessary drama. Lastly, thanks.

SOS/ACSC information
I went and fixed my post. I was referring to this: This is the scheming I'm referring to. Now, responding to your point: There are indeed silly people that sit on promotion boards and will somehow believe that someone that started PME on day 1 of eligibility are somehow the most magnificent leaders since Jesus. Pathetic? Yes. Reality? Yes. Go along? Up to you. As for the masters, I hope common sense rolls in on advanced degree full retard and the AF says that a masters is not required, nor is it desireable for you to get until you are at least a Capt (preferable not needed until LTC board). I see dudes in training with the masters book open vice the dash 1 or 3-3. Someone's going to get hurt if we continue to play that way. Until then, AF has said LOUD and CLEAR, your masters is more important then flying planes. Flying planes doesn't get you promoted, but that masters will. Fucked up, absolutely. Out

WG/CC fired for failing PT waist measurement
Then we should add a block on the EPR/OPR for "Smoker" because smokers cost a lot more in medical costs. Lets add another block for motorcycle rider because they cost more when they crash. How about another block for "workout junkie" because all those sports related injuries cost Big Uncle Sammy more money. I can predict future medical costs too. Out (with dripping sarcasm)
