Thanks for the replies so far. Yea it WON'T be an SBR. I live in Illinois (fuckers). Yea, I have seen that. Most of the flash hiders I am looking at will bring a 14.5" to 16" though. I think the BCM pencil barrel has a front sight post though. I want to skip that hassle of chopping it off and just try and get one without the fixed post. Additionally, BCM doesn't seem to mention the weights of their upper receiver groups anywhere.

Other AR guru's...I am in the process of building the lightest non-SBR AR I possibly can. I am looking for opinions on barrels. I want to get a 14.5 inch with a pinned flash suppressor. I was also throwing around the idea of fluted or dimpled barrels. Lightest barrel I have found so far is 1lb 7oz (standard lightweight, not fluted or dimpled).

Those aren't all my guns in the rack, but if you'd like my opinion since I have fired both: It depends. The SCAR-H is a good gun, but you can get an piston AR for less. Buds has SCAR's in 223/556 for about $2,499. I'd say you could easily get a piston AR w/optic for that same price. But, there will be a million AR-15's at the range that look exactly the same. I don't think I have seen a SCAR at the range...ever. So really you can pay for the exclusivity and the pimp factor of being the only one out there with that gun...or you can save yourself some money and go with a piston AR.

New Pelican case. Cutting the foam was a PITA. Buddies range rack (with some of my guns thrown in). I need to make one of these ASAP. Comes in handy.
