  1. Not quite sure how I feel about this WaPo article: Produced by the WaPo Targeting Branch
  2. Hey Eglin, 4th of July firework was last night! Late like the promotion board results. Too soon?
  3. Allegedly per a 4chan user. Underage or of age, still a very scary thing what the thought police did. Somehow online stalking technique against an internet satire video maker is considered to be investigative journalism now.
  4. maybe this belongs in WTF! thread... #CNNBLACKMAIL CNN reporter finds maker of "Trump beating up CNN" fake wrestling video, threatens to out/doxx 15 yo meme maker, if he/she doesn't stop making meme. Ran it as breaking news on 4th of July. I'm speechless...
  5. That may be the answer, it just pains me to think about the inevitable bloat that comes with a new CCMD. I trust the CSAF with regards to the timing of a new Space Corp. Also you know STRATCOM is going to put up a fight.
  6. We are doing this all wrong, it needs to be Joint! SPACECOM, SOCSPA, JICSPA, SPAAF, SPAFLT, MARFORSPA, USARSPA. This is how you get more $$, GOs, and civilian billets!!! /s
  7. outstanding WSJ analysis: WSJ Article, you may have to pay to view The ‘Independent’ Mr. Comey His prepared testimony shows why he deserved to be fired. "The most troubling part of Mr. Comey’s statement is his belief in what he calls “the FBI’s traditionally independent status in the executive branch,” which he invokes more than once. Independent? This is a false and dangerous view of law enforcement in the American system. Mr. Comey is describing an FBI director who essentially answers to no one. But the police powers of the government are awesome and often abused, and the only way to prevent or correct abuses is to report to elected officials who are accountable to voters. A director must resist intervention to obstruct an investigation, but he and the agency must be politically accountable or risk becoming the FBI of J. Edgar Hoover. Mr. Comey says Mr. Trump strongly suggested in February that he close the Michael Flynn file, but after conferring with his “FBI senior leadership” he decided not to relay the conversation to Attorney General Jeff Sessions or any other Justice Department superior. If he thought he was being unduly pressured he had a legal obligation to report, and in our view to resign, but he says he didn’t because “we expected” that Mr. Sessions would recuse himself from Russia involvement. Well, how did he know? Mr. Sessions didn’t recuse himself until two weeks later. Mr. Comey also didn’t tell the acting Deputy AG, who at the time was a U.S. attorney whom Mr. Comey dismisses as someone “who would also not be long in the role.” This remarkable presumptuousness is the Comey mindset that was on display last year. He broke Justice Department protocol to absolve Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified material, without the involvement of Justice prosecutors or even telling then Attorney General Loretta Lynch. Mr. Comey’s disregard for the chain of legal command is why Mr. Trump was right to fire him, whatever his reasons."
  8. I'm assuming they missed Airwolf, otherwise CENTCOM would be dealing supersonic Jet Rangers equipped with retractable chain-guns and A/A A/G projectile launchers menacing all over strait of Hormuz.
  9. This is my favorite...rides are available at a state fair near you.
  10. The NAF/MAJCOM should push down PRF guidance way before its due, as each GO has his/hers PRF preferences. There are different approved formats depending on the strength of your records. So look for that first. Your supervisor *should* walk you through the process first and gets you started on the right path. You'll probably have to do the dirty work yourself (annotations and text arrangements), but don't let the supervisor just toss you a couple of examples and a suspense. Kind of like the OPRs, you are telling your story (sell your strength!) to the reviewers. Btw, if you still have time, try to rack up some quarterly awards for the PRF. At the squadron level, everyone are so busy that the execs oftentimes beg for self-nominations, so your chances of winning is pretty darn good. Besides the strats on the left, the # of awards you've won helps your PRF stand out more (and the less words you'll have to pull from your OPRs). *disclaimer* I've not been part of the MLR board.
  11. think weight penalty first when considering civil aviation designs. look for Boeing blended wing body (aka lifting body design) in the future, *if* they can solve the passenger comfort/safety puzzles first.
  12. Have your spouse blast USAF on social media, that'll get their attention real quick. I would not have recommended this TTP 5 years ago, but nowadays public shaming is the only way you'll get the AF managers attention and see an immediate response.
  13. #1 strats down the left, expert volunteer even as an FGO. I don't think an interview would have changed anything. The pristine records were the results of checking the right boxes and having the right mentors. Job knowledge and leadership not required.
  14. At least one non-rated select on the list is toxic and unqualified. Very disappointing.
  15. Is it possible that these people asked not to be continued and their leadership granted them that wish? At least they will be eligible for involuntary separation pay.
  16. Not aviation bonus related, but it shows the current state of the AF. You know it's bad when only 3 out of several hundred eligible non-rated ops officers are applying for the rare good deals we have to offer. My speculation is that people are looking to punch soon and want to avoid the service commitment that comes with the programs. Greetings, To date, we have received three applications for all of our Advanced Academic Degree/Special Experience Exchange Duties (AAD/SPEED) programs combined...yes, only three applicants for our five NPS AADs and multiple Cyber and Acquisition exchange programs! If you're still hemming and hawing, the odds are in your favor this year. Our AAD programs at NPS require conditional acceptance from NPS...if you can't gain acceptance by 31 May 2017 (application deadline), we recommend you submit an application and provide a status update on the conditional acceptance in your email. If you think that you'll need a waiver for a program, just submit your application and state the waiver needed! (TOS/TAFSCD/etc) Listen, you want to focus on cyber in your career, you closet hacker, you? Submit for CIEET! You want to finally use that MBA once in your life, go ahead and apply for AIEET! Want to learn a language/master's degree and eventually be eligible for direct utilization as a RAS officer, go on...apply for AAD at NPS! Want to teach at USAFA through the faculty pipeline...you most likely won't be released, but maybe you will! Go on, apply! So what are you waiting for?? Go check out the AAD/SPEED guide posted on MyPers!!
  17. I admit that I have not read the actual JTR paragraphs, but the above excerpts doesn't make sense to me. TL:DR: AFAFO hates AirBnB/VRBO/HomeAway and you can't use online booking because you can die, unless everything is sold out then it's okay for you to take that risk. And if you don't follow our instruciton then you the SQ/CC better punish your subordinates or we'll hold you accountable even if what you did was kosher. 1. Online booking tool to rent...so your issue is really with the booking platform and not the actual lodging site...because you go on to say "are not to use them...do not meet fire standards", unless of course "only authorized in the event of lodging shortages..." So sounds like you are using non-compliant fire standards as an excuse to deter people away from certain online booking platforms with a caveat. What is your defense in court if traveler is authorized private residences lodging due to lodging shortages and subsequently dies in a building fire? If a lodging is non-compliant then it is non-compliant with or without the use of an online booking tool. This paragraph didn't make sense to me. 2. Paragraph straight forward, okay good copy. You didn't follow the procedures, but you will still get paid, but we won't pay the online booking and cleaning fees. 3. Again, straight forward, you didn't follow the procedures, but you'll still get paid according to the GSA schedule. The bottom line is annoying..."appropriate disciplinary action by Commanders is expected." Thank you Eric the finance guy for telling me how to do my job as a Commander. What's not spelled out in this paragraph, but implied is that we, AFAFO expect you the Commander to punish the traveler for doing something annoying, but not illegal. If we find out otherwise, we will show this official signed AF memo to your WIng King or NAF CC and argue that you are guilty of dereliction of duty. Your Wing King or NAF CC will likely cave in because they won't want to appear soft and miss out on that next promotion.
  18. In the AF, you are fit for command when you have demonstrated the ability to excel at Exec duties. I wished this was sarcasm...
  19. Bold is mine. It's been 4 ~3.5 years, but we are already there for a good deal of AFSCs. #Nostradamus
  20. Don't worry, things aren't that much better for the rest of the DoD. IT trouble tickets are backed up 7-8 months out because of a new (cheaper) contracting company that came onboard last year. Many machines and VTCs don't work, the only way to get something fixed in a timely fashion is via the bro-network.
  21. So it's a multi-role aircraft with modular payload containers. This is how you market the MWS.
  22. What wrong with the Air Force? We don't focus on readiness and warfighting anymore, mainly because we are not trained or educated enough for them. Air power projection is our core mission, and we've lost sight of that. Army and Marines will project ground power, Navy projects naval power, at the end of the day we have to present air power to the combatant commanders or we are all out of a job (not denigrating cyber, space, JTAC, TACP). Let's train/educate all airmen by sending all qualified Os and Es after commissioning and BMT through some kind of basic military flight training for 3-6 months (Nav, LM, FE). Non-flight physical folks get sent to ground ops training (airfield mgmt, amxs, intel, and etc...). Yes they won't be CMR, but they will have the fundamentals and understanding of what it takes to launch a sortie. With the rated and amxs shortage, they can *potentially* fill-in when the balloons goes up, more importantly this will educate why the Air Force exists and why not all AFSCs are created equal. Instead of focusing on bake sales and party planning, let's focus on readiness and the air power projection business. Soldiers and Marines all go through infantry training regardless of MOS, the sailors get trained on sea duty operations (firefighting, navigating and etc...). All airmen should have a basic understanding of how to support air operations regardless of AFSCs. The acquisitions community comes close by sending some of their officers through non-rated ops exchange programs. The 63As return back after one ops tour with a better understanding and appreciation of operational air force, as well as street cred when making decisions of a MWS acquisitions program. Yes sex assaults are bad, lookout for each other so we don't kill ourselves (on purpose or by accident), sleep with whichever sex you want behind closed (SCIF?) doors, build a home for the poor after work if you want to, those topics are not the reasons why the taxpayers are paying for our salary. We need to get back to combat readiness and the warfighting business.
  23. it was a classified pissing contest and you don't have the need to know...
