  1. I'll make sure it works first. I ran into this problem with a different video, just have to run it through a program to re-encode it. Also, don't put any possible/obvious keywords in the title or associated search words. But yeah, when I am back on fast internet I'll test it out and let ya know.
  2. Crazy pictures. Could have been way worse, glad they are ok.
  3. Yeah no kidding! How did the landing go?
  4. Huggy, that wasn't my intent there. Spoo was a bit better in getting to the point I was trying to make: recognizing a bad setup early on and making the timely decision to go around. You guys both know that decision making is sometimes clouded by the attitude of "I can make this work." There's lot's of external and internal pressures that hamper good decision making. I succumbed to it, I got off lucky and am the better for it. I saw the video of the immediate aftermath, boy were they lucky. Roush is a great guy, I met him a couple times back when I was a FBO line dog. Maybe it was the Premier back then, but I coulda sworn he used to have one of the small Citations. PS You two bastards are lucky to be there...again. I haven't been yet, and missed two great chances to fly up with a buddy in a Cub in years past. Hopefully someday.
  5. Yeah those comments are insane. A friend's neighbor is one of these chemtrail nuts. She stopped by when we were hanging out in the backyard drinking and I wanted to punt her in the vag after she went after me 'the pilot' for spreading chemtrails. There's some woman that lives in San Antonio 10 miles off Kelly's extended center line that posts a bunch of videos of C-5s and their "terroristic harassment" of her. There's more than enough lunatics out there to keep me entertained on YouTube.
  6. Go-arounds are free. Cliche? Yes. True? Yes. -rant on Two weeks ago I butchered an easy approach rather bad, right over the threshold. I should have called my own go, but thankfully the other guy did. We went around to a full stop. What really pissed me off (other than my bad flying) was how the controllers were less than accommodating for us going around. It was eye opening on all accounts, but the fact that ATC was not supportive of our decision to go around really irks me. There was no other traffic at the time in the pattern or landing behind us. Seriously, what would mess their day up more: me going around and giving them 10 minutes of extra work, or crashing on their damn airfield? -rant off Roush undoubtedly was under the same 'must land' pressure that we all experience at one point or another and even more so at Oshkosh. You just have to be a big boy and make the correct call.
  7.  1982 Perryville Prison crash
  8. that'd be awesome to see. lol The song playing was, well, literally perfect for the situation.
  9. Well played! Looking forward to some more stories. And to whomever negatived me, seriously?
  10. Great story and all, but what did you get her? :)
  11. Wheelz, I agree with that. I was just saying that the change in yaw wouldn't necessarily be what caused the stall, more so the loss of the thrust that was sustaining him in high AOA slow flight. The asymmetrical yaw just made things worse (yaw-roll-change in lift vector) at a point when this dude was way behind the power curve (not his fault). That flight regime make me curious. Are the wings actually stalled out to begin with? Is it just the thrust keeping the jet in the air? Could a F-18 even muscle it's way out of that flight regime on a single engine? Who knows. I don't. Bottom line, there wasn't much of a safety margin and unfortunately something failed on this dude. Fortunately he made the timely decision to eject.
  12. Anyone else catch the music that was playing? Rather appropriate. I don't think the F-18 has huge issues with asymmetric thrust when the engines are as close as they could possibly get. More like a contributing factor to why the jet went right when it stalled, but not the cause of the crash. More like high AOA + low airspeed + loss of thrust = stall.
  13. I'm in a small DV airlift squadron so the spouses are fairly active together, as are the crews. The C-17 folks that come to our squadron are usually surprised that we hold first Fridays and other SQ functions. Based on that I'm guessing that they aren't as active, but I could be wrong. As with anything, it depends.
  14. Brabus, click here
  15. AKA don't be a douche, but get your point across.
  16. Wouldn't count on the eyes. My eyes were 20/20 when I was 17, then by 20 had gone well past waiver-able limits to fly in the AF. Hate to say it, but the smaller hand thing is probably weird enough for the docs to DQ ya. Like how much smaller?
  17. FWIW I just passed my first PRK waiver renewal in the AF. Had PRK back in 2002, OTS/FC1 Waiver in 2007, survived being a lab rat at Brooks, winged in 2009. It's been 8 years since my PRK and I'm still 20/20. As someone was talking about recently, WAIT until your eyes peak out/stabilize at their worst before you get surgery. This usually occurs in your mid 20s (so I'm told my the doc). It'll save you some asspain in the long run. I wouldn't be where I am now if I didn't get PRK done back in the day. No PRK = no UPT = no wings. Simple as that. So I highly encourage people to get it, or Lasik, done.
  18. Well, we do have to over-wing refuel our own jets...
  19. C-21s: awesomeness.
  20. um...wow edit link, video is on homepage now
  21. Is this the same Russian/pirate incident where Russians captured a bunch of pirates, then later on the Russians put out a press release saying they somehow ended up dead?
  22. Footlocker (in colorado springs) was still doing a 30% discount as of last month. My SQ/CC just took his family on a Disney cruise, said he went for free since he was AD. I think this is good for their parks as well.
  23. So there I was, walking through finance today, rocking the bag, sleeves slightly pushed up (halfway to elbow to be exact)and a MSgt and TSgt both stop what they are doing, and simultaneously yell down the hallway "Sir! Roll down your sleeves!" I tried to get an ID on the uniform AFI enforcers, but was blinded by the glare of fluorescent lights off the reflective belts they were wearing inside on a sunny day. Double Whammy.
  24. I fly in Europe....where do I start??? PM me
  25. This is simple shit, cut down all light poles. Done.
