  1. Problem is, they won't have enough fighter pilots to fly them, and staff all the other taskings...RPA, MC-12, ALO, staff, etc.
  2. I should caveat my last post with the following... If you're a Guard guy and not keeping your resume up-to-date/pinging your contacts from time to time, you're probably fu#king up!
  3. Crap, you had me worried for a few seconds. But then I realized it's not a big deal, since the world is ending in 2012 anyway...
  4. Really? I can see them asking for your FTU paperwork (which was all I was asked for). I can't imagine our training shop caring to much about what some FAIP thought of my carrier qual. landings, in the tweet...
  5. Reason #89,958 that Yeager is a grade A douchepump! 2!
  6. IRT: Italian Radio Transmission WAS: Welcome aboard sailor LFALOW: Look for another line of work
  7. From talking with a friend (non-mil type) that saw it happen, it sounds as if he was chased through the landing...might be more to the story. Who knows what happened, i'm sure we'll be able to read all about it in our safety shops. Glad to hear the pilot is OK.
  8. Hah! I wouldn't throw your Friday (err Thursday, depending on your squadrons work week) shirts away just yet! These adjustments take time in the ANG. Hell, I have yet to even see a tan shirt.
  9. Does the squadron you're going to have an Alert det? Might be able to bridge the gap with some ADOS days. Last I heard, Fresno was looking for some help...
  10. It can be done...I've seen it happen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xvVUgZEXWM
  11. Haven't heard that, but we at the squadron level are usually the last to know!
  12. ***Thread Revival*** Awesome read! A great story of a German born American who becomes a Naval Aviator. Dude gets shot down in Laos, is taken prisoner by the Pathet Lao and subsequently escapes (++++ style points on his escape)...a true warrior! This would be a gook book to add to the survival reading list. Plus it has stories of the A-1, which IMHO, is worth the read!
  13. It's NOT ok to pose like a homo! If this guys squadron has a good LPA, this will be plastered all over with plenty of room for quotes!
  14. Yet another testament of her ability to bring her crew home!
  15. It's totally unreasonable to expect no drinking while traveling as well...
  16. Sounding like an idiot...
  17. Tactical deception! What...oh ya, I knew my DOR was coming up, totally forgot! I'll go get that sewn on ASAP. That will work for about 2-3 lower level guys, but only 1 DO or CC, then it's time to fix it. Another good one is the, "oh crap I wore one of my old flightsuits with 2LT (or 1LT) rank!" It's a fine art, but done correctly, you can stretch that out for a few weeks or, if you're good, months! Key is to avoid leadership at all costs! Also stay away from anyone that has already heard your excuses...this keeps them from catching on to your ploy! The vault is generally the best place to avoid all who would actually give a damn....plus much of what you need, to be good at your job (flying/killing), is conveniently located there as well! Now this is important...if found out, bribes may work! I recommend Glenlivet 18 year or better, Johnnie Walker Green, Jameson 18 year, or the standard Jack! Goodluck! I want all the pay of Capt with the responsibility of a LT Fighter Pilot. It was the best job I have ever had in the SQ! My job was to fly, know everything I could about flying my jet, fly some more and keep the bar stocked. Not get all bogged down with BS "additional duties," that really relegate flying to an additional duty and let your skills atrophy...why would you want to get promoted (minus the pay)! I about the first time I had to say, I need off the schedule or said I couldn't fill that open line because I had to work to do! Here I thought my job was to be a pilot. My wife's birthday and our anniversary, should be easy to remember too...but I seem to screw that up year to year! 2! I make it a point to check it about once a month, mainly so I can unf%ck the inevitable errors! Takes all of about 2-3 minutes if everything is correct.
  18. If we are in such dire straights and drastic measures are needed, then NO ONE should be immune to the cuts! We are all in this together...including Congress. Yes, I think it's symbolically important that they take the cuts as well. How can they have nerve to look all other Federal workers in the eye and say, you need to take a pay cut...but not me!
  19. As stoleit2x said...I'll buy the pay freeze, IF all members of our government lead by example and freeze their pay as well!
  20. I love flying light twins, but would never want to own one. Not when you can buy a plane like a Cherokee 6 and fly the same or greater payload, while giving up relatively little airspeed, for a fraction of the cost. When you factor MX on that second engine, and a turbo if you add that...your price skyrockets. Also, check on the price of insurance, that alone may be a game changer! Now, I will caveat that with the fact that twin prices are relatively low right now. So if you are set on buying one it's a decent time to do so.
