Having been to all of them I would list them, Sheppard, Laughlin, Columbus, Vance. Not that your dreamsheet really matters but Wichita Falls is actually a decent town. There is also lots to do nearby; OKC, DFW, Possum Kingdom, etc... You also have Austin and San Antonio for long weekends. It definitely beats Del Rio, Enid and Columbus. I actually disagree with some of the other posts. You will have plenty of free time on the weekends (not so much during the week), and having quite a few awesome places to blow off (STS) steam was great. Then again, once Friday hit, I didn't study until Sunday night. It seemed like we had quite a few 3 day weekends...maybe it's because those were all the fun times and I have blocked out the rest.

Even then, it's really not worth it. Douchebags.

Oh the joys of mastering the ANG pay system. Some of our old part-timers (especially the airline pilots) are true jedi knights at maximizing pay days and are usually the best to ask. Per Year: 48 UTA 48 AFTP (Ground/AIR) *AFTPs are divided into Quarters. *Max of 16 AFTPs/quarter *Max of 6 Ground AFTPs/quarter (12/year) - UTAs are the most flexible and can be used anytime throughout the year. Also, they can be used for flying or ground. They do not need to be used on drill weekend. As gearpig said, burn a ground AFTP if you don't fly. If I do fly, I burn a flying AFTP to save my UTAs. - AFTPs can only be used in it's individual quarter (it's true...if you don't use it, you lose it). - Things can get interesting if you are on and off orders. If you're on an AGR order for a particular month, you can not use your UTAs that month. I'm not sure of all of the specifics as they change based on what type of order it is. All I know, is if I know i'm going on orders for a month (usually not AGR), I will burn that months UTAs PRIOR to going on the orders. - My usual plan of attack to maximize pay/flying days. 1.) Burn all my Flying AFTPs first. 2.) Burn ground AFTPs next. 3.) Then burn my UTAs Things get even more fun when you start talking about Technician pay!

That is so sad...we are getting shit for what the tax payers are shelling out for that program. Any reputable company would have tossed that thing to the side and moved on, a long time ago! Instead we just make do with every POS program that the DOD buys. Programs designed to save time and help, which do neither. Yet another reason we are broke. What's that...you want to do what? Oh no, it can't do that. Sure, we could write some code to make it do that, but that's going to cost you another million dollars. We should be able to get that right out to you in v6.9...around 2020! Our contracting and acquisitions process it's totally fucked! Here's a good masters thesis for someone. On top of the original investments, how much money have we blown, in wasted man hours caused by DTS and PEX.

ACC...but the command isn't the problem. ANG. It's more of a state thing, but I know of at least 3 other states that have the same rule. It's what happens when you have the Army in your chain of command. Alcohol hasn't been allowed on base for >5 years.

That's just sad! I remember in FFA, we had a kid bring in a muzzle loader and demonstrate how to load one for a instructional presentation (no powder or ammo...just simulated). But then again, having a gun wasn't a big deal where I grew up, because most of us had handled a gun since early elementary. It also wasn't uncommon to have guns in our cars for hunting groundhogs on the way to and from school. I'm guessing that wouldn't fly anymore. Somehow we never had a gun related incident...probably because they knew most of us would run to our cars and get our weapons. For time reference, this was late 90s/early 2000s.
