  5. I don't have any knowledge of the AU OLMP coursework, but I shudder at imagining. This is likely created by the same folks that brought you all your PME readings, tests and writing assignments. If you love reading about what a bunch of old dead guys think about leadership...then go ahead. Go AMU, cash in on your WIC, SOS and specialty training if you can...and you'll already be halfway done before you start. Check out other programs too if you can...I heard of some folks doing Oklahoma University before...you do all the homework on your own time, show up to class for a week and test and you are done...credits! Might be a good way to burn a week of use/lose and get the monkey off your back quickly.
  6. if you are going to go with child-size kegs then try these: http://www.homebrewing.org/25-Gallon-Ball-Lock-Keg_p_2823.html?AffId=160 that's only 20 pints though. Won't last a week.
  7. Coincidentally...this also demonstrates the amazing inflexibility of the USAF acquisitions program.
  8. WWII Vet cremated and left behind 6 oz of shrapnel. Only told family he had "bullet" in his "bad knee". http://swns.com/news...cremated-26233/
  9. Sad story. Although it doesn't say it was civilian boat. Strange there is no mention of someone caught and/or being looked for after a week.
  10. Shouldn't be a secret...pretty damn important information for the next years captains board...
  11. I know a guy who just got the same shaft. Wouldn't be surprised if you know him. From the RUMINT I got it was due to paperwork neglect by the folks who are supposed to be looking out for trainees at Corpus (wondering if there is a trend of -130 guys who got RIF'd). Not sure if there was supposed to be some PRF-like document saying "this guy isn't a douche" or "no DUIs", but in essence whoever was responsible submitted them blank...and the message was received loud and clear at AFPC. Unfortunately whoever fucked up on this one won't be held accountable. Our unit either caught it when it was too late or didn't even see it coming. Everyone is saying the unit has failed them, but lets be honest...if you were working in an undermanned exec shop and a new LT with no discriminators came in asking for you to do an early OPR for his captains board...what would you honestly tell him? It's not a failure at the unit...but at some other level. We shouldn't have to be worrying about pumping up new LTs records with drivel in order to save their careers. Could always go VFR direct to Gen Welsh with a well-written letter. Normally not advisable for your career...but who the hell cares now. He is always strumming the "people first" strings, it might get through to him. For the meantime, use up all the benefits while you can!
  12. So I PCS'd overseas, and got an APO address ahead of time from my sponsor. I forwarded all my mail, mailed myself some things and even ordered a few things online to my new address. I had been on station for about 2 weeks (3-4 weeks after I started forwarding), and repeatedly asked the mail clerks why I wasn't getting mail. They just laughed and said it takes a while. After the third week I forced them to examine my box (yeah, I said it), and it turns out the previous owner's name was on it...they changed it and the next day I ended up getting a mailbox full of mail...but none of the stuff I ordered. I had ordered around $500 worth of stuff from various companies and none of it showed up, and nothing has been returned to the companies. Luckily Amazon is awesome and just writes it off and politely asks to return anything that shows up later...but I'm afraid other companies won't be as forgiving (after all, it's not their fault). What the hell do I do? USPS doesn't give a shit because they wash their hands of APO, especially if it's uninsured. Complaining about it to the post office seems about as useful as tits on a nun. I'm concerned all my shit was forwarded to the previous owner's forwarding address, because it hasn't shown up anywhere. The mail clerk claims they would have held it until I claimed it, but I'm doubtful. Anyone had any similar experience or advice (aside from insuring everything)? Edit: the main package I'm concerned about was shipped over 7 weeks ago. No word from the seller yet.
  13. Guess I'll just leave this here... something CNN calls an "aviation incident" http://edition.cnn.com/2012/09/26/travel/air-force-one-landing/index.html?hpt=hp_c3
  14. Intel I got said it was a bunch of wires to the comm system...pilots got fed up of listening to all the goats... not sure if I trust the source though.
  15. As far as your chances, who knows. H and P models both have the same locations...for now...but the P will soon be transitioning to the J, which means Cannon AFB, but will also mean new toys in a few years. As far as the mission for tomorrow's fight, I would agree with you...but I'm a bit partial. For today's fight, the mission is the same across the board for MCs, and there is plenty of fun to go around. As far as deployment rates go, its not overwhelming. Still minimal compared to any other mobility platform out there. Contingencies aside, you should be able to massage your deployment schedule around life events within reason in any of the MC units.

  17. Importing pets...180 day quarantine...hearing and reading conflicting information, and looking for some recent experience... Can you "quarantine" on base if you are in base housing? Can you "quarantine" in your home/apartment off base? If so is this officially written anywhere? Had people and stateside vets say its possible and often done, but reading the Japanese import websites and the army vet site, they specifically say you can't. Any information would be great...don't want the pets sitting in a small cage for several months once they get there.
  18. Sifting through the info for Kadena and saw this bit: "Shipment of any automobile manufactured after March 31, 1976, is prohibited. Anyone wanting to ship a vehicle manufactured before that date should contact the nearest traffic management office. " Anyone ever done this with a classic auto? Planning on talking to TMO about this, but can imagine them only trying to discourage this, as it's likely a lot of work.
