  1. If I were you I would hope for the best during the physical and not roll the dice with the age waiver. Good luck.
  2. Awesome. I trust you flew it with a mustache. First in the military in my family.
  3. This comment reminds me of the Shuttle program. First flight, STS-1, was a test flight flown by John Young and Rob Crippen (crew of two when it was designed for seven, just in case...) They had ejection seats. When everything tested out all right they took the ejection seats out for the pilots because not everyone could have them... which probably increased your level of motivation if you were flying that thing. Back on topic, good to hear he's okay... wonder what happened. This is from the News Herald: "Graff said hazardous materials units were on the scene as were flight investigators. Graff would not confirm whether jet fuel had been spilled." So... there's an aircraft with lots of carbon fiber and probably noxious chemical coatings BURNING and people are worried about some jet fuel getting into the soil. Didn't BP saturate that area already? EDIT for spelling.
  4. Flight - solid A... The FO cracked me up. Cloud Atlas - C+ definitely had a Wachowski / Matrix feel to it but not even close as good of a movie. I'd wait for DVD if you decide to see it at all.
  5. Yeah, no military clause, looks like it's going to be a busy month. Thanks.
  6. So - I found out I'm doing a short notice PCS with a TDY enroute. Looks like I'll have orders 2-3 weeks prior to my final out which is in the beginning of December. The property managment company I rent my house through won't let me prorate rent for December. Is there anything I can do about that? I can leave on 30 November or pay for December. Anyone been in this situation before? Don't know if I can move in time and don't want to pay for an entire months rent for about a weeks worth of time. Thanks...
  7. "She said she finally got fed up and decided to go public after discovering large collections of pornography and other sexually graphic and offensive materials stored on the unit’s computers and in a vault supposedly reserved for classified documents at Shaw."
  8. Oh... this looks like fun. I bet it would fit in a helmet bag! http://creepyhorsemask.com/
  9. Ha, valid. Copy all - I will now proceed to STFU on the subject. Night strafe with NVGs and the depth perception that goes along with that seems like it would be most sketchy. In any case it's too bad these weren't available at Tyndall.. would've come in handy for spring break.
  10. A patch wearer in a previous squadron used to say strafing and droping bombs were like shooting free throws. The target is not moving, it's not all that hard. I will caveat that with the fact that I've never strafed a target on the ground. Maybe it is cosmic, but somehow I think a jinking / aware bandit would be more difficult. Maybe some multi-role pilot could clarify. The Eagle is way over due for a dedicated infrared sensor - the F-14 had one... I really hope this happens for the CAF.
  11. Wait - how does OTS have "traditions"? Continue.
  12. I think they make radio calls as well so the pilot can concentrate on flying that non single-seat aircraft.
  13. Hmm, do you have an AFPAM 10-100 Airmens Manual? Seriously though - 2nd on ground ops, checklists, arrival and departure procedures etc... But you probably know that already from flying helos. Good luck - UPT is a ton of fun.
  14. Ha - what a tool, good stuff. I bet "Ace" had a 3.9 MPA -> send him straight to ENJJPT! Ugh - sadly too many guys like this have left their "legacy" on the active duty Air Force leaving us with the current culture...
  15. I didn't know either until on an *ALFA* tour - but this still makes me sick to my stomach. I have been working for at least two months to fix an error in my records. I ONLY have time becaues I'm not in a CAF unit right now and it's like pulling teeth every time I talk to AFPC (Not my problem / not my job etc...) Good luck. *Corrected for CAP-10*
  16. Well done Felix... someone should notify masshole.
  17. Sounds like someone needs to review their core values! If you don't try hard in SOS how the hell can we expect you to care about the mission?! Ha - anyway, I think my flight was second to last. It was a blast. Lots of trips to Florida, Birmingham, and time spent downtown...
  18. EAGLE!! When is the F-22 going to crush these records? Someone on TR-2 should get on that. Anyway, It's a cool throw back to history but it certainly doesn't take any skill to fly supersonic in a modern fighter - as long as you can figure how to get the throttles over the hump into afterburner. It's impressive that he passed his physical at his age though. I wonder how he did in the G-X?
  19. Just finished Blind Man's Bluff - about US Submarine intelligence operations during the cold war. Recovering missiles off the bottom of the ocean, recording soviet communication lines etc... Worthwhile read.
  20. Wait... does that still count as a kill? Are you an ace? Uh, yeah - sort of... I like that CNN video that came out a few years back of the Georgian UAV getting shwacked by a Mig-29. He should've gunned it - pansy.
  21. -My #1 choice for SNACKO! "Best Jalapeno corn seen to date!" -XXFS/CC-Squadron morale up 50% -AF history expert! Led several heritage events at roll call-Baseline raised for other members of LPA -VLO SME! LFE asset, RFAK with no FDL and zero blind calls in 55 min VUL-bar raised for CAF pilots Ughh... I need to fly more BFM.
  22. I am much more concerned with the 24 y/o kid out of the ATP factory landing my CRJ in the weather (god forbid hand-flying) than a DC-9 with suspect seats flown by some old military retiree.
