  1. Oh, I know. The difference is that you generally don't have much of a choice on whether you go. They do, hence the need for a larger incentive.
  2. Is $18K a year worth it - on top of your current salary - to get sent to some shit hole where you'll get tax free, hostile fire pay, hazard duty pay, and family separation pay? If you're going to bitch about compensation for going to a shithole, this argument doesn't really cut it - you actually make out like a bandit. And as far as Obama taking your money, I facepalm in your general direction. It was 25K cut down to 18K way back when I took the bonus (and was spending 365 in a shithole) when Bush took his cut.
  3. A 2-ship FL can lead a 2-ship. A 4-ship FL can lead a 4-ship. An instructor can lead an instructional ride, and is by default a 4-ship FL. No idea what you're talking about with regards to giving X's - are you talking about qualifying quys on the letter of Xs? An instructor can do most of those, a FL cannot. With few exceptions on specific weapons (AGM in the F-15E community) there are no delineations on instructors that I know of - you are a straight up instructor.
  4. Without getting too much into speculation, can somebody explain load shift to the ignorant pointy nose guy and how it could cause something so drastic and unrecoverable?
  5. Buried somewhere deep in the is a list of all the ops squadrons who are having to stand down due to budget cuts, but I'm pretty sure at least one of the LK E-model squadrons was affected. C models in the Mach Loop, huh? Must be time for them to re-hack annual LASDT training.
  6. Read the rest of this thread - they can't do that (or rather, you don't need to accept it). If they give you a non-A, it is good for the remainder of your stay - it cannot be dated for a specific time period, according to the JFTR. They can get you to move in to the TLF if there are rooms available, but once they move you out with a non-A, you don't have to move back.
  7. SPS CBM END DLF I've been stationed at three of them, but at the same time I'll tell you to not worry about what you get. Just don't be douchebag and have fun with your class. Your location won't matter.
  8. The story's not really important, but apparently we now have airmen and airwomen. MacDill airwoman charged in boyfriend’s murder
  9. Screw this guy. Send him to jail and make him an example. I have been lased, and it's not cool - it didn't effect my vision, didn't make me go blind, but it did make me start looking at the ground...at night....and divert my attention towards where it didn't need to be. This happens a lot, and it needs to not happen. Put this shitbag in jail - even if it's only for a week - and make it public knowledge, and the idiots with laser pointers will go back to their houses and use it to run their cats into walls.
  10. Link in the last bullet, but I can't access it. 9.11.2. Use of any medication or dietary supplements is governed by AFI 48-123 and as approved by a flight surgeon. Aircrew members will not normally self-medicate. In the absence of other MAJCOM guidance, the following is a partial list of medications that may be used without medical consultation: 9.11.2.1. Single doses of over-the-counter (OTC) aspirin, acetaminophen or ibuprofen to provide analgesia for minor self-limiting conditions. 9.11.2.2. OTC skin antiseptics, topical anti-fungals, 1 percent hydrocortisone cream, or benzoyl peroxide for minor wounds and skin diseases which do not hinder flying duties or wear of personal equipment. 9.11.2.3. OTC antacids for mild isolated episodes of indigestion. 9.11.2.4. OTC hemorrhoidal suppositories. 9.11.2.5. OTC bismuth subsalicylate for mild cases of diarrhea. 9.11.2.6. OTC oxymetazoline or phenylephrine nasal sprays may be carried should unexpected ear or sinus block occur during flight. Aircrew may only use such sprays as ―get me downs.‖ Do not use to treat symptoms of head congestion prior to flight. 9.11.2.7. For information on medication, see Aerospace Medicine policy letters at: https://kx.afms.mil/...ospaceMedicine.
  11. One addition - if you have https enabled on your browser, remove the "s" before you paste the link or it will only show as a link (vice video).

Holy fuck. Until now, I don't think I've ever been scared by a trailer.
  13. I would say the exact opposite. Go somewhere where the weather is prone to being shitty. I went through UPT at Laughlin and virtually never flew in the weather. The first time I really flew through the weather was my first ride with a student as a FAIP at Columbus, when I also flew down to mins. Like Wolf said, you're going to graduate on time, even if it means you double turn on the good days and fly on the weekend, so why not go somewhere that has some challenges? As for the Sheppard comment, you obviously weren't a statistics major.
  14. ScaredFuzz-Yes JarheadBoom-Great thought, but you still need to legitimately justify it to your OG and Wg/CC to get it approved.

    Mustache March

Sadly, a fellow pilot took up this duty many years ago, going so far as to dime out the bros to the DO (who was an equal level of douchebag). More sadly, he is now a UPT squadron commander. In case you missed it, there is a legit fundraiser in conjunction with Mustache March.
  16. If he doesn't return, he might be dead.
  17. You started a great thread, and you continue to fuck it up by talking. You're on probation - let the thread continue.

The site has a new designer who was tinkering with the layout. If you have suggestions for different pictures that are public use (no copyright issues), post the pictures or a link here and I'll pass them along.
