  1. That sounds great in theory but we all know this is not how it will go down. The DA will go to his #1 to ensure that his shiny penny goes to IDE and not leave it up to a board where it is out of his hands.
  2. If only anything else in the government worked at the speed at which that video was taken down. To whoever found and deleted that video, if you're reading this, I'd like to double your salary and hire you as full time DTS approver for my Sq. PM me.
  3. So the star of that vid is the O-6 that fired this chick? Trying to put the pieces together here.
  4. I realize I'm justifying this to the wrong audience, but here's what I've found that tells me this might be legal: 1. JTR 020209.A says "a traveler must obtain a rental vehicle through an electronic system when it is available or through the TMC when it is not available". Turo is 100% an electronic system. 2. JTR 020209.B says "a traveler is reimbursed the cost of the authorized or approved rental vehicle". So if I'm authorized a $50 Kia, I should be reimbursed for a $50 Kia, regardless of what I car I get if it is more expensive. 3. JTR Table 2-8 says "If a traveler does not obtain the rental vehicle through a TMC (basically CTO) then reimbursement is limited to what the rental vehicle would have cost if it had been obtained through a TMC". So I should be reimbursed the rate of a compact if I would have gone through CTO. So if I lawyer my way through the JTR, it looks like as long as I: -Get a rental authorized through DTS -Book through the Turo ap separately -Don't exceed the cost of the authorized compact (if I do, I'll be on the hook for the difference) Then I should be able to justify the Turo rental. Leeeeerrrooyyyyyyyyy Jenkkkkiiinnnnsssssssss
  5. I'm basically trying to work it like declining on-base lodging. If Hertz is going to charge me $50/day for a Kia, I'd rather find something with some balls for a little more money and I'll pay the overage. Insurance won't be an issue because Turo covers that, so I'm not sure which AirBnB "fire code" excuse they can pull. The only hangup I can see here is it's different and new, which frightens DTS Nazis.
  6. I thought there was a general TDY thread but I can't find it (if it exists). Has anyone used Turo on a TDY instead of going through a traditional rental car company? If so, have you gotten reimbursed? If I can find a nice car on Turo for the same price as the shitbox Hertz is going to give me, why can't I use Turo instead? For those of you unfamiliar with Turo, it's basically AirBnB for cars.
  7. I'm so glad I'm separating and DGAF about promotion stats anymore. Reading this thread makes me want to kick a puppy. Good luck fellas.
  8. Dumb question after reading this article: If I have a Roth IRA, contribute the max, file jointly with my wife who doesn't work, am I limited to $120K or $189K? It says individuals are limited to $120K but is that individuals filing by themselves, or would it apply to me since the IRA is in my name and I'm the only one earning an income?
  9. Did Military One Source get rid of the free H&R block program? I can't find it anywhere on their site. They're pimping some new system called MilTax but I can't even find a link to access that.
  10. Now that I understand PBS a little more, can anyone give an example of line bidding? Is it just as it sounds? SWA will post every single trip for the next month and everyone will bid what they want and seniority wins?
  11. Can anyone explain the differences between line bidding and PBS to an idiot like myself? Pretend like you're explaining it to a 5th grader. Examples would be great.
  12. In my situation, I'd be separating from AD and taking an AFRC job a couple states away, but staying in my current home for about a year until I move to my permanent home based on which airline I get hired by (if I get hired). For example: Currently stationed in MS, taking an AFRC job in TX, but staying in MS until I get hired by Delta, then moving to Atlanta. And for the record, my PC hasn't been approved yet. Just looking ahead.
  13. If I Palace Chase from AD to AFRC, but stay in my current home for a year beyond my AD separation date, do I out of pocket my moving costs to my next house later down the road?
  14. Let me play Devil's Advocate for a second, and this is coming from someone who is counting down the days to click submit on airline apps... Most pilots are smart. We know leaders at the Sq/Gp/Wg level have pretty much zero power to affect any kind of change with the mammoth pilot retention problem ahead of them, even on an individual basis. Let's say, hypothetically, your Wg/CC held a pilot retention forum where everyone was allowed to air their grievances and voice their opinion with no retribution. This is how it would probably go... Wg/CC: What can I do to keep you guys in? Maj #1: More money! Wg/CC: Well, now, you know I'd give you more money if I could, but I don't have that kind of power at my level. Talk to your Congressman! :laughs nervously: Maj #2: Less queep, more flying! Wg/CC: I hear you there! But we've already cut X amount of programs. Things like OPRs, decs, etc will never go away. There are things that are mandated by AFIs that we just can't stop doing. On top of that, leaders at the HAF/MAJCOM level keep dropping extra Vol 1 and training requirements that they feel are instrumental to our readiness against a near peer threat. Maj #3: More time with family! Wg/CC: I feel you bro! I haven't banged my wife in months and forgot most of my kids' names. But we're still fighting a war against terror and that won't be going away. And don't forget that just last month we hauled a small percentage of our Army to the border to fight those Mexicans coming from South America. Point being, there will always be a commitment both home and abroad. It would be a constant deflection exercise. They know they're fucked. We know they're fucked. But we all just continue to whistle and stroll past the burning wreckage. Plus, I'm not sure how it is in your community, but in mine, people are holding their cards close to their chest until the last minute then BAM. It's hard for leadership to reach out if they don't know your mind is already made up. TLDR: We're fucked
  15. Can we go back to this brown boots with green bags topic? Is this a thing? If so I'm making the switch tomorrow. Fuck it, I'll do it anyways. Good talk boys!
  16. If all goes according to plan, I will be applying to the airlines in 3-4 months. What should I be doing now to help myself out?
  17. We're keeping legacies around so navs can keep a job? What will State Farm do without their steady flow of new salesmen?
  18. wat? I'd say a BJ is the most consensual sexual act in the book.
  19. Can anyone explain the conversion from military flight time to the format that airlines keep it? I keep hearing this "add 0.3" but nothing further.
  20. Judging by the pics, it looks like it went down in the field across from Holy Cross Cemetery. Does that check with anyone there? It's been almost a decade since I was in PIT, but doesn't that coincide with the st-in ground track? 90 to initial is more over The Forum.
