  1. My old man builds the Mudhen at Boeing in STL and has had countles stories of thier buffoonery. Including one of a dude trying to check the wing tank and using his Bic lighter to see fatrther into it. The result was an F-15 burnt to slag. I think anyone who has ever dealt with "these" people knows they are either completely incompetent or just soooooo lazy they are ridicuously dangerous. Cooter
  2. Complaceny in OAF...NO didn't happen...oh wait. BLUF: Regardless of airframe there are "milk runs" but you must always be prepared for that defining moment. Having the attitude that every mission is the same can get people in trouble, in the air and on the ground. Cooter
  3. I'm only posting this because I'm about irate at the moment but in my recent move to Hurby my house has sold twice and both times the cocksuckers have backed out at the last minute (well I find out monday if the second contract has fallen through). Has this happened to anyone else? I talked with a corporate property attorny and the only thing I'm entitled to is the good faith payment they put down ($500...big deal). It's frustrating to say the least. There I was back in NE packing my stuff and I get a phone call saying this cheesedick is going to fold on the closing 5 days away. Guess it just goes to show that nothing is final until it's final but this is twice now and I've had to endure all the ass pain. Not that it's really on but RANT OFF. Worse part is my new home contract was contingent upon this one selling now I have now place for my wife and dog to stay. So here's to you mister deal backeroutof... Cooter
  4. I don't know much about the base but the new WG/CC down there was the boss at my last base (Offutt AFB) and he's awesome. Straight up dude who takes care of his people. He's very mission oriented and puts as much queep off as he can. FWIW. Cooter.
  5. Not sure but I think I saw it in the Mighty Ducks when I was kid! Cooter
  6. I'm in if we're gonna fire it back up. Cooter
  7. If it's the same guys that were running the outdoor bar for the last couple of months, yeah. Although I'm sure not the brightest bulbs in the drawer some of them were good for a regular drink "hook-up" now and again... . Cooter
  8. I just came off a 90-day deployment 21 Jun and I PCS on Wed. Course I volunteered and am a glutton for punishment. I do remember signing something saying w/in 60/90 some odd days but that was months ago. Bottom line is you can still get hooked even w/orders. I wasn't the only one on this last deployment like that as well. Cooter
  9. 2...and have participated in one in the last 6 months of a WG/CC.
  10. HAHA I hear you man, I walked into one of the showers yesterday and they had one hung up in there as well. Why this place hasn't been declared a free-fire zone for good idea fairies I'll never understand. Oh well, 11 days and that concludes my last trip to the Deid...at least in this airframe. nothing more than stops from here on out hopefully. Cooter
  11. First off I hate sitting SOF...buuuuuuuut I have been up there several times and heard of several other times when it was extremely beneficial (Mark if you're reading this in the tower hope you're having fun). WX and other nonstandard events really catch the tower folks off guard it seems. Not that they are bad controllers but they sometimes just don't understand ops as fliers do and are usually from all over the globe and used to dealing with one type of aircraft or sitauation or another. IFE's are for the most part handled by their own ops squadrons with little input from the SOF. The DV thing is a joke. Some people are more special than others and require more actions than others all while some protocol braud is jibba-jabbering on the phone/brick/etc.. Fallen Warrior...I'll gladly sit in the tower to facilitate whatever is needed for our bros that have paid the highest price. What I don't like is how the shifts get spread around but hey it's part of the suck that is the Deid. Do I think it is necessary...not sure but the OG and Deputies are really big on it and provide some legit reasons for its existence. Like all things...you don't miss it or it's not important until its needed, and then it really comes in handy. Cooter's .02
  12. I beleive this years board to O-4 is going to be interesting. It's already been said that the promotion rate will drop but you have to remember that the '02 year group did not get RIF/VSP so the year group is fat. We could see a considerable amount of dudes not get promoted even if they have checked all their boxes but have been mediocre or less there entire career. I'm very interested to see the results in Mar '11 that's for sure. Cooter
  13. Well I've had an out of regs mustache for two months and walked around all night after my flight w/o my invincability belt on w/o anyone saying a word. Things have been worse. But the "Flight Kitchen" still has one Haji working the counter while 3 Airmen sit in there office watching movies with 30 people in line. So same same...sort of. Cooter
  14. I have to say this place is way better than when I left in 08. Things that we got yelled at for then (BBQing/dragging tables to the rocks to smoke/etc) is now legit. I've had no one yell across the chow hall or anything for my sunglasses and have even walked to the shitter and back without hearing a peep. Also if you're near one of the new caddies they're nice. O'Club just opened (not what you think, people tried the first night and were told to pound sand) but it's in BPC. BPC can't tell you and don't care, I have no reason to go over there. The trailer park is still what it has always been but everybuilding has a wifi antennae on it. Depending on where your room is you get good or bad internet. This place has changed alot over the years and finally I think it's for the better. Cooter PS Given all that, there are WAY too many support people out here and yet customer service no matter where you go...BLOWS as always. So you got that to look forward to.
  15. There's a great book on him by Schiffer Military publishing. Great stories of Tigers taking upwardds of 100 hits from AT Guns and tanks. Imagine sitting in a steel box and just getting peppered by shells...hoping the next one doesn't come through and blow you out the back of your tank. Cooter
  16. On side note, anyone PSCing down there this spring/summer? Cooter
  17. Iknow quite a few folks over there and they love it. Yeah you sit alert but it's prog'dout so you know when it's gonna happen. Good mission from what i hear and you get to go to al ot of cool places. Offutt is a great place for family and the 1ACCS is a good ole boys club for sure. Cooter
  18. I'm down for $20 as well. "2" to live draft, we did it last year and it worked out pretty well. Are we doing ESPN again? And for the life of me I can't remember my team name...anyone? I know it was Omaha somebodies. BTW if we're doing ESPN and you have an iPhone they have a Fantasy App you can download for free. Cooter Nevermind it was Omaha Beef Spnkrs. I just had to remeber what went with living in Omaha. Cooter
  19. I'm in again...still a little sore after getting beat in the Super Bowl so badly. Cooter
  20. Ahhhh...Baseops how have I missed you. Well done gentlemen. Cooter

    Gun Talk

Ammo is still in short supply here in Omaha. Told the wife to snatch (STS) up some .40 at Walmart 2 days ago and she said the shelf was empty. The last lot of .223 I bought was Silver Bear just so I could continue to stock up. Anybody else still having problems or know of any good leads? Cooter

FINALLY...something I know. I'm a minor Scotch Whisky (Notice...no E fellas) Connoisseur and collector, minor in that I have a separate insurance policy for my collection. Yeah try explaining to your wife it's an investment. Alright here goes: Islay - Lagavulin 16 (There is no better spirit on this planet for 50% the population, the other half absolutely hat it. You have to like peat/smoke and it's won the gold at the WWA's for Is lay's for the last...well it's been a long time running.) Island non-Islay - Talisker 18 (30 or 25 if you want to spend the cash, and yes it's worth it.). Highland Park's are also phenomenal though. Highland - Glenmorangie New releases (D'Or/La'Santa/etc.). They are doing innovative and interesting things with whisky since ownership has changed over. macallan's are always at the top though. Lowland - I don't drink many of these but just got Auchentoshan Three Wood that was fantastic. Very smooth like Lagavulin. Campbeltown - Springbank or so I hear. Don't drink many of these. Funny thing is my everyday drinker is good ole Mr. Beam. Best Bourbon for the buck and taste. Sweet and flavorful. Beer: Let the spears fly but I think Fat Tire tastes like old dishwater run through a babies diaper...with a burnt hair garnish. Sorry can't stand it. Make it a Bud. Cooter P.S. Yeah I'm enjoying some Mr. Beam tonight as well why I work on a rib dry rub...any suggestions fire'em my way, I've got a BBQ competition to win in a month.
  23. Douche nozzles like that come up with Z-Z-1-3 and the other gay sh!t that is out there. A little personal accountability goes a long way...not to say don't enjoy getting ripped in half drunk every now and then but one alcohol incident and guess what folks? yep we all have to pay for it. All the AF talks about is accountability but it's not upheld. One ass clown screws up and we all pay, break out the diapers Lt Snuggles crapped his pants again. Cooter PS Sorry accountability was all I heard at SOS
