  1. CH You're right guys will bitch regardless. We bitched when we split the U-28's and again when we spawned a third squadron in Cannondahar. If it's not one thing it's another. I'm interested to see what happens under current leadership being that ground has to be made up from previous leaderships "oversight(?)". I have little hope for small airplane hopes/dreams so it will be interesting to see how we are treated. As for the future...i guess we'll see what happens, I'll just grit my teeth and push on. Being at HQ currently I get to see some of the shenanigans, and if it's taught me one thing...staff is not for me! I'm requesting VFR back to ops after school. I want nothing to do with all the BS anymore. Cooter
  2. Not to mention the other programs that will suffer for years to come because of previous shortsightedness, and not just in the J realm. Cooter
  3. Shameless plug ahead... Take a hard look at U-28, you will not be displeased. I won't say other AFSOC aircraft are one-dimensional but the U-28 can change from day to day. Frustrating at times but always awesome in the end. There are several defined "mafias" and the U-28 is probably the least powerful but that's because folks fear it ( my opinion). There's a long history of single engine exploits in AFSOC and that's not likely to change anytime soon....until we go multi-engine, then it will just be that much more awesomer! Cooter
  4. Shack on the above posts. I left ACC 5 years ago when people said the same stuff. Difference is, you get shit done in AFSOC. You'll also find >50% of what u hear from spouses is...well inflated or outright incorrect. After 15 some odd deployments my wife and I hate each other the same as the day we got married. Being in AFSOC is what you (and your wife to a certain degree) make it. Orrrrrrr screw it, go fly tankers and regret it the rest of your life... Cooter PS - lots of love tanker guys, don't read anything into it
  5. Not true, there's plenty of life left in the fleet trust me. And with a little money could go considerably further. Cooter

    Gun Talk

What's the prevailing thought on m-1Carbines? Have an opportunity to pick one up. Not sure type condition but what are some things I should look for and price? Could have the choice of a WWII matching numbers and a generic shooter. What should I look for and how much should I pay. Again just looking for prevailing thoughts from the masses as I am not up to speed as I used to be and the Internet can only give you so much v Cooter
  7. Same here I can give you my af.mil address...need it to get back on my deployment schedule! Cooter

    Cannon AFB

Was it by chance the new WG/CC that pulled this at Cannon? Because him and the downrange example sound like the exact same person...UFB Cooter
  9. Both good flicks, believe the Korean one is also called Tae Guk Gi as well. Cooter
  10. FUN????? No No No No...you can't have fun in the AF anymore. Fun gets you Q-3s and/or paperwork. Cooter
  11. Can't say enough about these dudes. The sendoff we had tonight was excellent and the support from everyone has been awesome! Rest easy brothers...we're taking care of you. Cooter
  12. Ugh...That's the whole reason I like the 2 Piece ABU one. They are nice and thin, and the top comes off of course! Oh that and it pisses off Chiefs. At one deployed location the looks we were getting after we walked into the chow hall here priceless...it was a collective "those can't be real uniforms so we need to say something." Assclowns... 13. Is it just me or does this just fall in line with all the recent AFN commercials and basewide emails? I saw a commercial a few months ago downrange that said "Smokeless tobacco has no place in todays military" and just yesterday I recieved an email about " Base Smoke Out" (which I took as something completely different) which talked about no smoking on 17 Nov. WTF! And the no drinking thing is starting to spread to other locations even outside the Arab world. Or they make it so restrictive you don't even bother, like "every other 2nd friday of the month between 2130 and 2145." Combine that with the ridiculous pre/post/yearly health assessment questionaires (you know if you mark "drink more than threee drinks in a sitting" it gets flagged, some bullshit numbering system and if you score a certain number you get a talking to...or worse). Everybody lies on those things but shit now lying on it isn't even good enough. I have a bad feeling that drinking in the military is only going to be looked upon worse and worse. Cooter
  14. Word has it they picked him up as he was walking down a road. Glad he's ok. Cooter
  15. I think USAFRICOM is starting to get its legs under it so I would expect more of this in the near future...probably a lot more. Cooter
  16. Keep'em coming...I say the more the merrier. Cooter
  17. Is it our duty as officers to question unlawful orders? Absoloutely, no question about it. But I in no way see this as unlawful. Have I agreed with every political decision that has been made that has affected military execution...FuuuuuUck NO. Is there a point where you say, "this is wrong" and march down to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and bang on the front door like he just knocked up your wife? Yep...there sure is but this ain't it. BTW...Have you heard of "Inspire" magazine? Do you know the situation in Yemen? This is a far cry from knocking off John Q. Public "Homegrown terrorist" in the parking lot of Starbucks with a Pred. Would you have liked us to commit thousands of troops to an already unstable situation and start another Iraq? Funny thing is people like to be safe but they don't want to get dirty. People were cheering in the streets (poor form but...ehhhhh wahtever) when we killed UBL...violating a soverign nations airspace...psshhhhhh...suck it Pakistan. That debate lasted 5 minutes, now this guy gets clipped and people all of a sudden are like, "whoa...wait...was that cool????" Yes he was American, guess what? Don't want a hellfire through the forehead? Don't go to Yemen and threaten America. I think this is being blown up by politicians for no other reason than elections are coming up. Hence why I choose not to vote...they all suck. Cooter
  18. Does anyone giva shit? We're (Military) paid to execute policy not make it. Dominate the airspace you own and trust that your leaders are making the right decisions. Trust me I am in no way naive but that's the way I see it. Are you a fan of Ron Paul by chance? Plus it demonstrates that we're willing to clean house regardless of affiliation. If you are a US citizen and threaten terroism on the US, you lose said right for a fair trial IMHO. Personal take on the situation, not looking to encite a flame fest. Cooter
  19. YGBSM...the man's an effing hero and the first thing that comes to mind for you is, "is he wearing that according to regs?" UFB. Cooter
  20. I lost to them in the Super Bowl that's all I know... Cooter
  21. Regular drafts have been fine the last couple years and if it's anything like the last few years half may be able to do the draft. Especially those of us deployed. Cooter
  22. Did the Rivet Joint thing for 7 years. Cooter
  23. I'm curious as a guy who's PRF went up from ACC and am now in AFSOC...would my record meet the SOF DT? And how long does it take for those results to come out? After a few of my AMC buddies got their DT results I'm curious to see how mine would work with the timing of my move. Not that I have a desire to return to ACC...ever. Cooter
  24. Didn't we do yahoo last year? I'm in again from my lovely deployed location. Cooter
