  1. I haven't heard anything about RC EWOs going over but I've been on leave for 3 weeks. Words escape me on this whole thing so I'm just going to keep quite for now and see what happens for now. Cooter
  2. Anybody here not go to SOS in-res and still get promoted? Cooter
  3. I'll start by saying I'm not a religious guy but I'm Catholic (or so it says on my dog tags). That being said I know lots of people of different faiths and after an initial, "huh...you don't say" nobody bats an eye at it...unless YOU make an issue of it. I had a guy tell a group of us that we couldn't swear while we were at work...WRONG! You MAY ask someone to respect your beliefs/etc. but in no way should press your beliefs on someone. That being said I have an orthodox Jewish guy out on deployment with me right now, a flying intel guy, and the only way I knew was he did some deal with his hands when we sat down to eat after drinking, smoking, hanging out...but not chasing tail (he's married). He obviously does alright out here (and I mean working 7 days a week and flying combat missions) but it's all in what you are willing to sacrifice. God likes sacrifice (or so I hear)...you'll get to do a lot of it in the military trust me! I'm pretty sure there is a standing get out of jail free card for military folks at the pearly gates (or a toll booth or slip'n'side...whatever you believe you have to pass through to get in to paradise) for all their sacrifices. I'd imagine at some point the AF and your religion will butt heads and you'll have to choose...and Big Blue doesn't like to be turned down. I'll say you need to look long and hard (STS) at what your priorities are before making a decision. Good luck. Cooter As a side note, the no cursing/swearing guy...everytime I saw the guy I did my best tourrettes syndrome impression. But that guy was a huge D-Bag...and is no longer in the AF (thought military flying as more of a hobby than a job and put people at risk). Needeless to say I didn't like him.
  4. Stiffmeister I agree, North Omaha is more of a combat Zone than this place...it's a joke. We've got 3/4 of the folks on this base who are NOT supporting the mission other than making up stupid rules like these that have no real impact but serve as a notice to what THEY think the priority is here, not getting Bombs/Gas/ISR/Troops/Supplies downrange. Evey body here has the most important job, just ask them. It's all a matter of perspective, of which the shoes have none becasue they consider here combat. Plus it goes along with the thrad about Deidness. Cotoer
  5. And the hits just keep coming... So apparently now you are not allowed to connect external storage devices to USAFCENT computers. YGBSM! So my Offutt issued thumb drive with pubs on it I can't use out here? Everytime I think this place starts to be normal they go and pull something like this. Now that we have Cyber command I'm sure we'll have an entire squadron of "Cyber Warriors" prowling the Deid network in search of unauthorized storage devices connected to government computers. Like we need more Douche Nozzles on this base getting their "combat" deployment here. Cooter
  6. Offutt has been getting a steady influx of B-1/B-2 pilots to head up our groups and squadrons. And our Wing King is a JSTARS pilot but was a -16 driver before that. Goes a long way to say what they think of having Recce leaders even lead their own wing. Cooter
  7. They actually have chew on a regular basis now. It's all over at the BPC BX but that's just a short Bus ride. Look me up (PM me for my room #) when you get out here. The bros and I have a grill and have been grilling out. Getting some Omaha Steak burgers flown in from the states soon. It's starting to get warm (although the rookies think it's hot already) and the new caddy's may be done in 6 months or so (go TCN labor force!). I have to say for the Deid hings are prety good. Just beware the flight kitchen, airmen (and I use that term loosely) don't like aircrew barging in there ahead of the line to ge their food. See you in the Deid. Cooter
  8. Being put up in BPC is on a timer sevrved basis. 365 guys go in first and so on down the line. Supposedly they're building more but you know how Qatari construction goes. Supposedly as people move over to BPC, CC will spread out. Word is E-5 and above eventually will have their own rooms (Like everything else they tell us out here....we'll see). I'm back for the 8th time now and it's even diffrent than it was two months ago when I left. Lots of construction. A lot of stuff has moved over to BPC, no biggy just one more bus ride. It's mid 90's and dusty if anyone is out here PM me and we'll grab one of our three drinks. Cooter
  9. So I'm going back to the Deid (8th times a charm right?) here in a few days, anybody gonna be there? If so ring out and lets have three brews together. On a side note apparently the Muff has been taken over by the USAF and is being renamed "Camelot"...WTF. Can't say that bodes well for it service but I'll have a report on that soon. Here's to "Combat" ness in the Deid. Any Tac airlift guys out there or doing missions in the area let me know, we're doing much more DZ support now. Later. Cooter...here's to Warheads on Foreheads (for those that don't know it's a huge buzzword out in the Deid) .
  10. My commander commented that he didn't like the new boots because "I don't think you can a professional Airman and not polish your boots". I'll leave that as a free fire zone for ya'll... . Cooter
  11. There's one in St Louis as well. Great place to go and have dinner and watch airplanes at lambert Intl. Cooter
  12. We just hada new micro brewery open here, Nebraska Brewing Company, not bad they have a beer called a Cardinal Pale Ale that is fantastic. Plus you can get growlers, mini kegs, ponies or fulle kegs from them as wel. Not to mention they have regular andextra hops brews. Pretty kick ass. Recently been hitting Sam Adam's White Ale (tasty with a nice spicy twist) that I like for spring and summer. I bleed cardinal red (go Redbirds!) and my stepmom works for AB but damn Sam can make a good beer. Also just did some modelo when my bro from kadena was in as well as some Foster's bitter, quite good stuff and not like an English bitter. On the end note beer is beer and you'll never see Cooter turn down a brew or any sorts. Cooer
  13. Discretion is always key but I have never seen anyone have a problem with having a drink at lunch or in the early afternoon when you're not flying and nothing is going on in the squadron. We had a going away for some of my bros this past friday and most of us had a beer over lunch with our CC there and he's not even a drinker. I've had plenty of instances where we've been seen haveing a brew over lunch (especially during a mission planning week before heading out on a TDY) and no one has ever said a thing. I will say, and Toro what you say carries a lot of weight, just watch yourself and be smart about it. I know one of the key reasons no one goes to the club on base is the sky cops circling it when more than two flyers walk into the place. Cooter
  14. Shouldn't we have a motto to change every few months as well????????? Cooter
  15. If you're stationed at the Deid, I highly recommend a divert into Dafra. Nice place (not to mention the COMMERCIAL WiFi they have on the base), shows you how a base can be without out all the retardedness. There may be some but it sure seemed like it wasn't hung out there like it is at the Deid. Cooter
  16. Uhhh...what plane are you flying on? I haven't seen a torpedo tube since '04 maybe early '05. Are you talking about the bowls up front that are tubed to the platic jerry cans? That's a fairly recent "upgrade". Funny story...this alst deployment on our first mission someone walks back after a 8 hours and goes "hey what the hell, you guys pissing on the floor?". We all laugh until we see the dark stain creeping back in the compartment. Come to find out the pisser exploded and no one noticed. In all fairness it was held together with speed tape and a length of garden hose. Flew that jet without the carpet until they took it home. Cooter Happy St Paddy's Fnckers!!!!!!!!!
  17. I can tell you it had a "HARD" landing and it's still sitting there minus two of its engines. other than that not sure. There was another incident where they had a flap (it was a control surface for sure) fly off on short final and the pilots saved the aircraft. I tlaked to some of the guys and the story is pretty impressive. Not a situation I would want to be in and they put her on the deck safe and sound. Cooter
  18. But FOD checks they don't have to worry about. I love pulling up to the ECP and seeing 6-9 million rocks in their tires when I go to fly a mission. Oh and when they drive between the marshaller and the jet...that's awesome. BTW the Muff has gone way down hill. They have nights now when E's can go to the Muff for a certain time. Don't get me wrong I love the E's (no STS) becasue I fly wiht a ton of them, they're good friends of mine. But nowadays the Muff is not what it used to be. One thing I noticed is the NCO's in space command that show up in there bags with their wings on that have never been close to an aircraft. It's like slapping my boys in the face. Get a real job for Christ's sake. For the first time ever I got a drink and it tasted like coke, i went back to ask if they put any whiscky in there and i was told "yes of course you got a normal pour". BULLSHIT! look I and a bunch of other bros live out there and don't try to tell me where the bears shit in the buckwheat. I know how things are and how they have been, don't blow smoke up my ass. I know a lot of bros go without and i understand but introducing BS because you can isn't right. hey was anyone at the Muff for Halloween '05? just curious, we have some guys leaving the squadron soon and we were all reminising (fnck me I don't know the spellling) about that great party. Especially the bus ride and the "America Fnck Yeah" singing (Chuck17 you're still gay for leaving the day before) and the shenanigans that insued. Here's to all of us... ! (Lots of old school bros leaving in my squadron so I'm all sentimental lately) Cooter
  19. Do you want a stratgically important missile base in the middle of a populated area? UPT bases in the middle of nowhere make sense to me, force the studs to focus on flying not on partying. Case in point, San Antonio for SUNT (soon to be Pensacola) lots to be distracted by there. Just my .02. Cooter
  20. If only the entire AF worked that way. As an aside, funny story... I was in charge of leading folks out to dump their honey buckets. When I stepped up to the pipe (those who have been there know) I thought to myself "WOW if i dump this from here I'm going to get piss all over myself". So I changed my angle on the pipe and dumped away, low and behold my piss flew out of the bag all over the instructors. Sucked for me but it raised the morale of everyone in line and it focused their attention on me and me alone, leaving the others to go unnoticed. Botom line...Take care of your people like you should and you'll come out on top. Cooter
  21. Did anyone notice the house made of straw that was all torn apart with the door still standing in that video? Hey if the 3 little pigs won't live there then I bet nobody would want to. Cooter
  22. You know what the funny thing is (Actually it's not funny it's retarded) we have smart boards in our mission planning rooms, they hardly ever get used if at all. Plasma screens everywhere, what are they used for? Watching F@#$ing TV! It would be nice to go back to a simpler time without all the techno crap. The AF right now, IMO, has lost a sense of itself. Between "Cyberwarriors" (pretty sure that needs to be a beer word) and our new slogans that come out every 6 months, where the hell are "we" going? I guess that's part of the reason I like being deployed so much so I can stay away from all that crap...oh wait...F@#$! Cooter
  23. "2" WTF? Do you want the CAOC experience or are you that bored. Trust me you get a lot of stuff done for the mission but you may want to check it out first. 3 months was more than enough 20+ hour days, falling asleep on the bus for 1+30 and riding around the base and sleeping behind my desk on a mat to make me realize flyin' is where I love to be. To each his own just make sure you know what you're stepping into. Cooter
  24. We kicked we screamed but the mustaches had to go. Was not told we had to do a fncking tv interview. We were told to answer some damn questions but noooooo. now I'm on the CAC channel or some BS. There I am having my JD on the rocks (no more Jim Beam sorry bourbon lovers out here) and i see my ugly mug on the tv. One guy pulled the "I'm in for a green door job, I don't want to have my face out there" but I didn't think my supposed AFSOC job for this summer would fly (to the DO who was a former gunship guy). Thanks to everyone and their wonderful emails about the af.mil story...Chuck, Scooter you two homo's especially! 's on me for the shenanigan's if you ever see me out and about. Cooter
  25. A LOT of wisdom coming out from two distinct sides here (M2/Bendy). I listen to people try to absolve themselves from death in war. "Well I didn't actually drop the bomb" or some such nonsense. It's BS, you're in the military and the end result of the military is what...to eliminate the enemy. Everyone has a role to play but that role invariably gets bad guys killed. You signed on the dotted line, people die in war and you have some role in that. Cooter
