Sounds like the Vance pool. Some of those girls were pretty... nice.

TDY Nametag Ideas?
Rocker's favorite: Homer Sexual.

Best Officer position besides pilot
Combat WX; most of the guys get to jump and do some pretty "hands on" stuff.

Name that cockpit
Probably a Golden Eagle... could be a RAM 414 though (modded).

Slugging?
There are few things in the world more frustrating than trying to traverse I-66 to 495 and ultimately 14th street bridge during morning rush hour.

Hurlburt info
Good grief! It seems to be nearly impossible to find a decent place to rent (I'm in the process of buying), anyone have suggestions? I'd like to stay within a 30 min drive of base. murph

Good military/aviation books
Air Commando One: Henie Aderholt and America's Secret Air Wars Great book on Air Force Special Ops during vietnam. From a Dark Sky: The Story of U.S. Air Force Special Operations Not as good as Air Commando One (IMO), but still a decent read on AF Special Ops from infancy to the battle of Khafji.

USMC/Marine Aviation
Update - the Marine jet draft is over. It's just as competitive to go jets as in the Navy.

U-2 Dragonlady info
Word is for every knot above approach speed (whatever that is, maybe 60ish?) you carry over the numbers equals an extra 1,000' down the runway.

Cool Things About Herk Flying (or your airplane)
Not too sure on the validity of this story, but on studentpilot.net about five or so years ago someone posted about an "engagement" between a gunship and a viper. It read something like the two were "playing around" after an exercise in an offshore MOA and eventually the gunship was able to bring its guns around on the F-16. Again, could be your typical SPN B.S. but who knows, maybe someone in the know can comment on possibility of something like this happening.

Flight sunglasses
pcola Ditto what Rocker and C17 said... the quicksilvers are nice because the "earpiece" is relatively flat. I've flown with the same type of glasses for 7 hours at a time (civilian stuff) with little pain.

NAS Whiting Local area info
They must make Governor's Gate out of granite or something. I went to Pensacola after the hurricanes and it was the only complex seemingly untouched.

Finally!!!!
Chicaro's sucks these days (provided you don't like looking at crusty old dudes all the time). Callahan's in "downtown" is much better IMO. Great beer selection, nice ambiance, and cute girls who are worth talking to (babies aside). And then there is always Scooters...

Is swimming a part of UPT or other training?
Prior to starting T-44/C-12 training here at Corpus (between Phase 2 and 3) you must complete the AF Water Survival course in Pensacola. It consists of exactly what justaflyer said (not sure about the 6 foot swell part, though).

New T-6 Paint Scheme
I think it's because an orange/white aircraft will most likely be seen first in a SAR scenario out of the water.

Staying out of trouble in Europe.....
Don't get serious with any foreign girls. I did when in Switzerland and it was a little extra trouble come security clearance time.
