  1. Seems like they made some poor business decisions at the height of the COVID demand. I bet the Chinese buy it too, especially since the CEO they brought in is the former Glasair guy and that got sold to the Chinese. Really a shame for what’s arguably the premier experimental aircraft company. This also speaks to the larger issue of GA being close to a death knell in this country. The most popular kit company facing potential shutdown, new Cessna 172 and PA-28 family aircraft are north of a half million dollars and basically only bought by flight schools, and the legacy GA fleet is facing a reckoning on remaining in flight worthy condition. I was just recently tacitly involved in the attempted restoration of a Beech Sundowner. Now it doesn’t have the wide support that 172s and Pipers do, but it was a flying condition airplane that looked like it needed moderate restoration to bring it back to a like new condition. Turns out once things started getting dug into, the level of corrosion hidden throughout the airframe was far larger than one would have guessed. It was a full records and relatively well maintained aircraft too. Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, etc… probably never imagined these planes would still be flying today, let alone make up the backbone of the actively flying fleet. With no affordable supply being put into the market it’s hard to see a sustainable future for GA.
  2. Ever since Chang, all other trolling on this site is weak by comparison.
  3. “Public servant” making less per year than many airline pilots.
  4. Now that is some blissful ignorance.
  5. That's actually not what he said. If you listen to the whole briefing, the question the reporter asked was in regard to how long existing appropriations would last for both Israel and Ukraine before additional Congressional action needed to be taken to continue that funding. Action that can't be taken due to the lack of a Speaker as of now. The end of the rope was the currently approved funding, not the end of the rope of aid to Ukraine. Of course a carefully edited twitter snip doesn't capture that... White House Daily Briefing | October 11, 2023 | C-SPAN.org 39:00 if you want to hear the full question and answer.
  6. I reverse read the last two pages of this thread and was genuinely shocked to see that HeloDude’s multi post libertarian flex stemmed from essentially defending a dude who killed dogs with jumper cables. What the actual fuck? And libertarians wonder why they get no traction politically.
  7. Click bait title. That dude is not speaking for “Iraqi Forces” in that speech. More like a regional political leader/borderline sectarian insurgent group head. Break, break. I laugh every time I see young liberal white women protesting on behalf of the Palestinian cause. Talk about being completely clueless supporting a deeply misogynistic culture. But as long as it supporting something that’s involving people with brown skin, it must be the right thing!

  9. Dude's Linkedin is a gem. First five years of his Air Force career is simply listed as "Various Training, Internships, and Educational Experiences." I guess that's one way to put it.
  10. All this discussion about voting choices, what are people leaning towards voting in another year? Personally if Trump is the nominee I will be voting third party. I checked the container next to him twice and won’t do it again. And I sure as hell won’t vote for anyone the left is currently offering up. Now I also live in a deep red state that will go for Trump regardless, so that makes my decision a little easier in terms of potential third party ramifications. I weep for those of you in swing states if the choice ends up Trump vs Biden (or other wacko leftist).
  11. If approved, are they still planning to do the internship approach with only Aviation degree recent grads? Or is some common sense prevailing and have these be regular GS level jobs open to anyone?
  12. It was a suppositional scenario to highlight a point 🙄. And also Saban can't give NIL deals to his own players.
  13. Its scholastic sports man, it's not pro sports. The introduction of large amounts of money to the players fundamentally changes the motivations and reasons behind playing the game. It used to be a player chose a school for a multitude of reasons. Instead the primary factor now is the NIL deal and whether Tuscaloosa Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge is going to put something on the table that's better than Mercedes of Ann Arbor. That in of itself changes why college football was great, because it wasn't anything like the NFL. Players played for the school, not a contract.
  14. College football conference expansion (more like consolidation) is going to destroy the sport. Other aspects in play are already well on the way anyway; NIL, transfer portal, 4 team playoff, etc... What made college football great? Regional rivalries, occasional match ups between big powers, upsets, non-professionals playing the game. All of that is being obliterated. How long is it going to take for Oregon or UCLA to wonder why the hell they're making their 6th trip of the year to a different time zone to play Maryland, Rutgers, and Illinois? Sure the matchups yearly between USC-Michigan or OU-Alabama will be fun for a couple of years, but the novelty is going to wear off fast. Those matchups were great because they rarely happened, or only happened in a bowl game or championship setting. The 4 team playoff has already caused a massive consolidation of talent in college football. There's a huge gap between the haves and have nots. Big upsets are already more endangered and will become nearly non-existent as talent further consolidates into only a couple of teams. As someone who was a D1 college athlete, paying college athletes is absolute BS, even if it is through the NIL system and not direct employment payments. College athletes, especially the football and basketball players, were already paid. Full college education, paid for. All meals and housing, paid for. The fact many of the athletes didn't care about those perks is their own problem. But that's the choice you made when you went to play sports at a SCHOOL. And despite how someone might feel morally over the amount of revenue sports like football and bball brought in and student-athletes not seeing anywhere near it, it was the amateurism that made the sport entertaining. Sorry, but 18 year olds getting 1 Million dollar payments from rich donors to sponsor a local car dealer is just not something I'm interested in watching, and I think lots of others will feel the same, especially when you pile on all the other afore mentioned stuff. Okay, that was definitely TLDR for most people. But I used to love college football, family had season tickets for a few years, and now frankly I don't give two shits about the sport anymore.
  15. I'm pretty sure this program never came to fruition.
  16. Blues Fridays? JFC. Blues Monday is bad enough but Blues Friday seems designed solely to kick people in the junk. Absolute idiots in charge in so many places.
  17. We’re still on track for the Fisk arrival tomorrow morning. Looks like the big FU is back in the forecast though. Not excited about that; it’ll be interesting to see what the actual visibility is.
  18. He succeeded? Who succeeded? John McCain launched the invasion of Crimea? Shit, I’ve never been a fan of John McCain, but that’s impressive for that old codger, god rest his soul. Who knew he was so high up in the Putin regime! Explain to me what is controversial about that video, or proves there was some conspiracy to start a war in Ukraine? Anyone with access to intel at the time could have told you that as Putin lost grip through his Ukraine puppet government he was interested in reasserting control and specifically maintaining a Russian Navy presence at the port in Sevastopol. Nearly everything that was predicted ended up happening to a T; not because there was some deep state conspiracy to fight Russia in Ukraine, but because the Putin playbook has been open and known for quite awhile now. For god sakes, the man invaded Georgia under relatively similar circumstances in 2008.
  19. Yeah I’m expecting S40 on Monday morning, but we’ll see. My wife and I did just buy some folding bikes that we’re going to have a family member who’s driving in drop off for us at our camp site. Should make the trek to and from the S40 more palatable and also be able get to and from the SOS Bros tent once the busses and trams stop running.
  20. Careful, you’re going to end up on the Pentagon social media monitor calling it Rucker.
  21. What a stupid fucking tweet, acting like there’s some conspiracy that McCain and Graham were over there in 2017 representing the US and defense aid to Ukraine. Do people not remember that Russia unilaterally invaded Ukraine through Crimea and several eastern provinces all the way back in 2014? This country is turning into a looney bin more and more every day. An unending parade of woke and social justice garbage from the left and sound bite conspiracy theories from the right. Awesome.
  22. A man won the Miss Netherlands competition.
  23. Got a late start to watching the Tour De France, but was shocked to see that all the riders and staff for the race are being required to wear masks and apparently the riders are being tested every day and will be kicked out of the race if they pop for COVID. JFC this idiocy will just not die even when you think it finally has.
